1967 Matchless 500 , 1967 Matchless G85CS Scrambler One of less than 100. Beautiful and correctly restored in 1998 by Robert Allen. The bike was last started in June 2001, ridden around my yard and parked in my family room or office since. I have kicked it over enough to circulate oil a few times a year. Includes a folder containing history, restoration documentation and an original G85CS - G80CS - P11 Maintenance and Instruction MANUAL in near perfect condition. This is a great piece for the Triumph or BSA Collector. Serious offers by serious buyers will be considered. I am selling only because the office spot has been taken by another bike. The Matchless G85CS was a fine, handcrafted off road only scrambles racer built to a higher standard than any previously sold to the general public through dealerships. It had less standard Matchless components on it than anything this side of a G50 road racer! As trim as they were (around 300 lb) these bikes were not overwhelmed with brute horsepower and did weigh a good deal more than the rapidly improving two strokes they ran against. The G85 is the direct predecessor to the P-11 Norton which has basically the same frame. It is commonly reported that the P-11 was born as a result of the west coast distributor installing a 750 Norton twin in a G-85 frame and sending it back to the factory with the instruction "Build This". The frame was bronze brazed Reynold 531 (Brit for Chrome Moly) in a design clearly derived from the Rickman brothers Matisse. The front forks appear standard, the front hub has the cooling fins removed giving it a unique appearance and saving a few ounces of weight. The rear hub and brake plate are "Elektron" magnesium alloy items of G-50 road racer derivation. Foot peg hangers, rear brake lever and other parts are fabricated from tubing rather than cast. The bike came with a fiberglass fuel tank and side covers. The aluminum oil tank was a very complex shape welded up from sheet. This was reportedly done with oxy-acetylene as TIG was not yet common practice. Perhaps the least practical feature was the 1-3/8 AMAL GP carburetor, which has tight inner clearances that do not do well with grit and dust. The ignition is by Lucas Magneto and these generally gave adequate service. Yes they did come with that ridiculous stubby front fender. How many survive today?? 303-499-5186 $21,000.00 3034995186

1952 Matchless G9 Super Clubman 500 Twin Motorcycle - I bought this cycle some years ago in a semi-disassembled condition. The previous owner did a great job of professionally powdercoating most of the parts. The cycle is complete save only a couple of small items (left grip, right tank badge). The tank has been painted and tires are new. Seat is original. Smith's speedometer is original. I do not know the exact number of miles. I have ridden the bike and it runs strong. Pretty easy to start. It does leak some oil when parked. It has always been garage kept. I have a clear title and a notebook of photos of the cycle in disassembled stage. I have enjoyed the process but no longer have room in my garage. While I believe the cycle to be in relatively good condition I do not warranty its condition. Please contact me if you have any questions. I offer free local pickup and will also help prepare for any shipping. It is up to you to make any/all shipping arrangements. I am willing to hold the cycle for 2 weeks after the sale ~ Please make arrangement with me if you cannot pickup the cycle within the 2 weeks. Sale is Final British AJS Matchless

1965 Matchless 500 cc G80CS R Police special. One of Twenty built to special order for the Rhodesian High Commission for their Police Force. This bike was one of the last bikes produced by AJS/ Matchless in England. It is a complete ground up restoration by International Classic Motorcycles, experts in this type of restoration work. It has matching numbers and is 99% original parts. The order called for an easy starting bike, versatile for road and outback riding. Based on the G80CS frame and Matchless 500cc engine it provided a easily handling motorcycle. After years of service it was sold in South Africa, then purchased by a person who moved to Canada bringing the bike with him. The bike has run in miles on it only and is ready for both riding and show. Bike can be crated for transport CAD$16500

Here is a great start for anyone wanting to build a replica of the bike featured on the cover of this month's The Classic Motorcycle Magazine. According to them only a handful still exist in the original format of the 25 or so made. The blue parts in the photos are genuine original items removed when one of these bikes was brand new and turned into an all out racer which was I suppose the whole point of the exercise. That said a few lucky individuals have the real deal but I doubt $100,000 would pry any of them loose so here is the best way to go about it and at the same time end up with a better engine and more reliable electrics. Of course if you should be lucky enough to have an original G50 or AJS 7r engine you can go that route! Minnovation racing in the UK is a source for an engine with many modern internal improvements but retaining the great external patina. . The choice is yours. Petrol/ gas tanks are available from time to time right here on Ebay as are G80 CS mudguards / fenders etc.   If you are curious I purchased the rolling chassis here in Canada a few years ago. It was imported from Venezuela  by a Quebec chap and I am told quite rare on it's own. It had an AJS 500 pushrod motor  when I got it now long gone. Shoot your questions to me I am [email protected]  or 613-273-5036    I can ship this anywhere in the world. Payment by bank transfer.    CANADIANS SUBJECT TO SALES TAX.  Thanks for looking

Hello, this is a very clean 90% + restored Ariel 500 single. (restored to its road racing days). The bike was originally raced back in the 1950's / 60's, and then again in the vintage class in the 1980's. The bike has many of the modifications common to a bike like this. It also has a completely rebuilt engine and trans with zero miles on them. The bike was completely disassembled in 2012 and everything was inspected / cleaned / refinished in addition to any machine work needed. The engine has a new sleeve, piston, rings, cam, crank brgs. The head is a big valve alloy unit with new valves and guides. It has a rebuilt lucas racing magneto with a super hot spark. Frame and girder fork are original Ariel units, frame number BP1878. Girder has a gas shock mod in place of the original spring. Wheels are newly built with alloy rims and stainless spokes. New Avon tires. Bike has alloy fenders. Gas tank is nice, oil pressure gauge and tach on gauge are present but not hooked up (tach needs 90 degree drive from cable to clock). The bike is wired with a working headlight and tail / brake light, and runs off battery. Bike has a clean Colorado title, bill of sale will be included. This bike has oil in it and I regularly kick it over by hand to circulate the oil. I am selling for health reasons. This bike has not been started since all the work was done as I'm not able to kick it over due to knee problems. There has been no gas in the tank since being cleaned and lined. This is an easy finish for someone, I'd just like it to go to someone who will finish it and appreciate it. This bike took first place in the British bike show here in Denver last year. Other than taking it to that show no one has ever seen it. Shipping costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I will help any way I can from this end. Deposit is due immediately after clicking the purchase button, full payment is due within 7 days of purchase and should be in the form of a certified check. Bike is sold as-is. Please ask questions, thank you for looking.

BIGGER IS BETTER (back Ground) The MOV was doing so well that a larger version was needed & by lengthening the stroke, they created the 350cc Velocette MAC in 1934. It became the real bread winner for Velocette Motorcycles, their best-selling model. The much-needed capital was invested in an entirely new design, a big 500cc OHV single sport version to be called the MSS in 1935. This utilized an all-new frame, developed from the MkV KTT race machines & shared this frame with the KSS MkII, 1936-48. The MSS was another runaway hit for Velocette Motorcycles. World War II halted production which did not resume until much later. The 1935 MSS was a much more modern machine with the same frame as the Velocette MAC and was fitted with sidecar lugs and had optional panniers to appeal to the touring market. Buyers started tuning the MSS for speed, however, and the factory responded by producing the sports Velocette Venom model. Burt Monro from New Zealand, featured in the film "The World’s Fastest Indian" chose a 1936 MSS 500cc raced a heavily modified Velocette MSS. Racing preparations including making special pistons, changing the frame and increasing bored out engine capacity to 650cc. His top speed record on this motorcycle was 138 mph. with a 1/4 mile time of 12.31 seconds. This fine example is reported to be an excellent runner and fun to ride.
