A 1/200 limited edition 1978 r100rs "motorsport" edition with an exceptional 34,xxx miles. It is a beautifully running motorcycle but unfortunately I have no maintenance records on the bike as none could be provided by the dealership I purchased it from and I have not had it long enough to have any performed myself. The paint is original apart from a touch up by the previous owner in the white tank paint. As is only natural, it has 34,xxx miles worth of small dings, chips and tiny cracks in all the usual places on the fairing. All guages and lights work as well as the clock. Tires are nearly brand new. There is a small dent on the tail of the seat (also from the previous owner) but it is in otherwise beautiful shape. I am simply not up to the task of restoring a rare piece of BMW Airhead history that belongs in a museum. Sale includes original white krauser bags and bracket, original full tool kit, original owners manual and original red cable wheel lock hidden under tank/seat. Matching numbers 6183242. Asking a negotiable $9,300. If adding this quite sporty piece of history to your collection peaks your interest don't hesitate to make an offer. I would like to pass it on much sooner rather than later and you may very well be the highest bidder. I can be reached by call or text at six14three07nine129 or email a [email protected]. If you are met with difficulty leaving a voicemail please text or email. I can send more pictures upon serious inquiry.

COMPLETE REBUILD, Mechanical and Cosmetic. Many Custom Touches! R100RS Sport bike. 1986 BMW R100RS Sport Custom, Yellow-Black. Frame and body canary yellow with satin black highlights; VERY SHARP and SPORTY. Dual Plugs, big valve heads, 336 Sport Cam, Koni Monoshock, EBC Floating Discs, fresh 10K Service. Numerous custom touches. There are only 3000 miles on this Sporty BMW R100RS since the Custom Sport rebuild. It has a BMW Factory 336 Sport cam, Dual Plugs, big valve heads, and 40mm Carbs. The brakes have been upgraded with EBC Floating Rotors, and braided stainless brake lines for much more positive braking. The very rare Koni rear Monoshock gives a superlative ride with precise control. The exhaust system is stainless steel, for long life. Tires are excellent, the battery is new. The moderate and dependable sport motor build gives you GREAT throttle response and eliminates the need to downshift in most passing situations. The motor will pull top gear well into redline, without excessive vibration. The combination of the later Nykasil 1000cc cylinders (known for long life), matched with the late ?70 big valve heads and the big 40mm Bing carbs, give you a great top end (nearly double the speed limit). The 336 Sport Cam adds in a very torque filled midrange and progressively more horsepower as you run the RPM up. You get all this without sacrificing a reasonable mileage range of between 35 MPG when blasting it full throttle, and 47 MPG when cruising at legal speeds. This bike is seriously fun to ride! The R100RS BMW was the first motorcycle ever built with a wind tunnel designed fairing. The riding position is ?Euro Sport?; a relaxed slight forward lean without the much more cramped and radical American Sportbike riding position. The fairing fully protects the rider from wind and rain, except for the rider?s toes.! Additionally, the fairing design makes the bike much more stable at higher speeds than a naked bike or a bike with a touring fairing. Synopsis of initial bike build : A previous employee of our shop built this bike: 1986 BMW R100RS Sport Custom #WB1046306G6480505 You should know that this was not just an engine performance rebuild, but was very much an "all the way down to bare frame, refurbish everything, put it all back together, painted yellow" type of rebuild. The bike started out as a 1986 R80RT, that was converted to an RS. The original motor was sold to help pay for the rebuild, and the builder started with a used 1978 R80 motor bottom end off our shelf. The block and cylinders and heads and transmission case was all bead-blasted to clean the surface and to open the pores in the aluminum. They were then thoroughly cleaned, then heated and soaked with silicone to make a surface that would resist corrosion for decades. The whole engine bottom end was balanced; rods and pistons perfectly matched to make the motor extra smooth. Then, he completely rebuilt the motor bottom end with new main bearings and rod bearings, and it became a 1000cc motor with the installation of 1000cc nickasil cylinders. The cylinders were sent out to be re-nickasyled to a perfect fit on a pair of 9.5/1 1000cc pistons. The pistons were sent out to have the crowns ceramic coated for heat resistance. A pair of late 1977-79 R100RS big valve heads were completely rebuilt, and were converted to dual plugs with both plugs the same size for even heat response. The head gasket surface was decked to make it absolutely true (and slightly raise the compression ratio a bit more) and installed, with 40mm carburetors (stock were 32mm). A BMW Factory Sport 336 degree camshaft was installed in the block, and new lifters and pushrods installed. The stock EGR system was removed and blocked off. An original BMW oil cooler assembly was fitted. The stock Valeo starter was removed, and a much more robust Bosch starter was rebuilt and installed. The fork was rebuilt, and a CC/San Jose BMW billet top clamp was installed. New steering bearings were installed. A new Koni rear monoshock was installed. A custom stainless steel exhaust was installed to eliminate the heavy middle muffler and achieve a much smoother exhaust gas flow. The exhaust mods required a custom rear brake pedal to work around the header, and an earlier centerstand was installed to also work with the exhaust. ALL the frame and body was painted YELLOW!. The swingarm, centerstand, sidestand, and wheels were painted silver. The final drive was rebuilt. The instrument set was reconditioned. I looked through all his old employee shop bill invoices. By the way, the shop bill invoices for this end-to-end, top-to-bottom, inside-out rebuild total over $9000.00!! (That's at employee prices, well below retail). Most of the time he chose to buy NEW BMW parts when good used parts could have saved him a lot of money. All the labor was done by him over the period of 3 years, with our mechanics and service manager guiding and helping him. NEW Parts-Motor: crankshaft main bearings, rear main seal, flywheel O-ring, oil pump O-ring, oil pickup gasket, 2 stainless 44mm intake valves, 2 stainless 40mm exhaust valves, 4 guides, 2 1000cc ring sets, 2 sets con-rod lower end bearings, 336 BMW Factory Sport cam, 4 lifters, pair Luftmeister light wrist pins, 4 pushrods, 4 valve springs, 4 cylinder to head studs, 4 pushrod tubes, 4 pushrod tube seals, valve cover & head gaskets, cylinder base O-rings (4 small & 2 big). NEW parts-Clutch: BMW clutch friction disc, BMW HD spring , pressure plate. NEW parts-Transmission: all 6 bearings, 2 bushings, several springs, metal shifter roller (instead of nylon), and all gaskets and seals. New shift lever rubber. NEW parts-Front fork: 2 fork tubes, Billet top triple clamp, damper rings and other parts, Luftmeister anti-dive kit, fork slider seals, Luftmeister progressive fork springs, 2 EBC floating front brake rotors, 2 front caliper rebuild kits, NEW parts-Carbs: 2 complete carb rebuild kit (32 to 40mm carb conversion) with new main and idle jets, floats, Bing Vacuum take-off kits (to aid in balancing and synchronizing carbs). New air tube rubbers. New head to airbox tubes, K&N reusable air filter, 4 air box cover clips, NEW parts- Frame & Swingarm: sidestand pivot bushing, swingarm bearings & Seals, 2 sets steering neck bearings. New rubber mounting grommets on instrument mount bracket. NEW parts-Fuel Tank: Front and rear tank mounts. 2 Karcoma petcocks, braided cloth covered fuel line, 2 fuel filters, 2 porcelain BMW Motosport tank emblems NEW parts-brakes: front EBC floating calipers, 2 caliper rebuild kits, 2 brake pad sets, new front metal brake line, new braided stainless front flexible brake lines, new rear SBS brake shoes. New front brake lever bushing installed. NEW parts Electrics: M NEW parts-Hand controls: All throttle, choke, and brake cables. NEW Parts-Body: Luftmeister Tall smoke windshield, BMW windshield mount hardware, RS dash, pair front RS turn signal assemblies, rear fairing mount with clamp, BMW mudflap, tool tray NEW Parts-Final drive: all gaskets & seals & bearings. I have left out MANY of the NEW small parts and hardware that were on the invoice, plus the numerous quality USED parts that were also used; there is just too much to easily list it all. I have described all the major work done, but left out MANY details. The builder rode the bike for several years, putting nearly 3,700 miles on it. Then it was parked for about 6 years in a heated garage. When the bike came back to us, the fuel was very stale, and some rust had formed in the bottom of the fuel tank. We cleaned out and relined the fuel tank with POR15 (the best fuel tank liner we have found), and the carbs were dirty, so we rebuilt the carbs too. Due to the time since the initial build, we performed a full 10,000 mile BMW Factory Recommend Service. We found noticeable wear on the steering neck bearings (too easy to lift the wheel under power), so we installed new ones again. Anything we found to be less that perfect, we went ahead and made it perfect before we put the bike up for sale. After doing all the deep service work, we gave it a through test ride. Clutch perfect. Shifting perfect, brakes perfect. All lights and gauges work properly. Tires near new. All electrics work perfectly. This is a seriously fun bike to ride! Great throttle response, great brakes, superb handling, smooth ride. This beautiful bike is very striking, and will draw interest wherever you park it. The bright yellow paint can be seen by other drivers much further than most BMW paint jobs. The bold graphics accentuate the lines and let people know that this is not your father?s BMW! We would be happy to answer any questions you have about this BMW motorcycle; please call us at 614.837.1160.
