This is a time capsule one-owner RS originally sold by Freeman's Cycles in Beverly, MA and serviced there until they closed. We started servicing this bike in October 2002 right after we opened and the bike visited us over the years for regular maintenance. After taking it in we completed a safety inspection to assess the condition and needs of the bike. Please see the service report section for the disclosure of what this bike will need to get it ready for the road. This is one of those bikes worth investing in as it is in extremely nice condition with no signs of abuse or neglect. The previous owner did all the right things; serviced it, kept it away from harsh conditions when not in use and replaced the stock suspension with Ohlins when the factory suspenders wore out. Stacks of records came to us with the bike which also shows the nature of the previous owner. Due to the age there are items that will need to be addressed and we are selling this bike as-is and disclosing our findings in the service report section. This bike will need to be loaded on a truck, trailer or delivered since it will not pass a NH state inspection. This is the 1995 BMW R1100RS raced by the late Grand National Campion Gary Nixon (Triumph 1967, 68) the in BMW Battle of the Legends Series in 1996 & 1997, signed by the late Campion, Gary Nixon. The Legend's race ran from 1992-1997, racing legends commissioned by BMW raced on identically prepared BMW motorcycles at AHRMA races in Daytona, Loudon, Sears Point and Lexington. Four bikes were used in the series: 1992 R100R, 1993 R100R, 1994 R1100RS and this 1995 R1100RS. Of the four bikes raced by Gary Nixon: the 1993 bike is on display at Herney's BMW/Triumph in Port Clinton, PA; the 1994 bike is in private ownership, and the 1992 bike is not accounted for. This is the 1995 bike, the actual bike raced by Gary Nixon in 1996 and 1997. Gary Nixon tied the series with Jay Springsteen in 96, with Springsteen being declared the winner but Nixon won the series outright in 1997 on this bike. The series was cancelled after 1997 after racer Roger Reiman died in practice. This bike, which had been sold to a BMW dealership, had non-original yellow wheels and aftermarket Remus exhaust but was recently returned to it's former racing form by Hermy's BMW, an authorized BMW dealer. The bike is now as it was raced by Gary Nixon except for any safety wire, different tires and a smoke windscreen. The bike itself is in perfect running condition and recently serviced. BMW promotional race video (VHS and DVD) of this bike in action (1996) and documentary book included, (which confirms the VIN and ridership). The bike is featured on page 47, the appendix and throughout the book and video.

1994 BMW R 1100 RS ABS, The R259 1,085 cc flat-twin engine had a maximum output of 90 horsepower (67 kW). The engine was named "Oilhead" as it had air-cooled cylinders but oil-cooled heads. The BMW R1100RS had a frameless design, using the engine as a stressed member, an approach used by BMW for all subsequent oilheads (except the R1100S). Instead of having conventional telescopic forks, the R1100RS used BMW's own Telelever suspension which bolted directly to the engine. The Telelever design has a superficially similar appearance to telescopic forks, but braking forces are taken back horizontally, minimising "fork dive". A rear subframe supported the rider, passenger and luggage. Both fully faired and half-faired variants were available.
