Own a classic! New/rebuilt engine with new wheels, aluminum calipers, electronic ignition and much MUCH, over $12,000 invested. Odometer shows 31 miles, but like everything else on the bike it's been renewed/replaced/upgraded, actual mileage unknown. Triumph's T140 Bonneville is the obvious choice for a first British classic bike. Here's why... First off, they don't cost a fortune, so you can try an old Brit bike to see if you enjoy the experience without mortgaging the cat. Second, there are heaps of 750 Triumphs on the market at any time, so you have plenty to pick and choose between. Production of the 750s started in 1973 with the twin-carb T140V Bonneville and the single-carb TR7V Tiger, direct descendants from the Speed Twin all those decades earlier. The first few 750s were actually 724cc but the vast majority are 744cc (76mm by 82mm) from 1974-onwards. The 750 Triumphs do everything fairly well although they tend not to excel at one thing in particular - apart, perhaps, from steering rather more sharply than some lumbering four-cylinder contemporaries from overseas. Financing (see our online credit application), credit cards, trade ins and consignments welcome. Or have a bike to sell? We pay top $$$$. Stock # X065971978 Triumph T140E classic. The 650 cc capacity production T120 Bonneville was replaced in the early 1970s by the T140 Bonneville, the same basic machine but with a 750 cc engine. Refined from the later 'oil in frame' version of the T120, the first few T140s, designated T140V, featured a larger-capacity engine of 724 cc, a five-speed gearbox and indicators, but still retaining drum brakes and kick-start. Shortly after, the engine was further bored out to 744 cc and front disc brakes were fitted (using single discs until 1982). While originally intended for 'export only' the 750 Bonneville twin, caused so much interest among visitors to the 1973 motorcycle shows, that Triumph decided to put the bike on the home market at the price of 679 uk pounds. In 1975, along with engine modifications, the gearchange lever was moved from right to left to comply with new regulations mandated for the American market and a rear disc brake fitted. Several T140 models followed featuring various modifications and refinements including electric starting from 1980 until production ceased with the closure of the Meriden works in 1983.Although this should have been the end of the Bonneville, as it turned out it was not. Triumph Motorcycles was acquired by businessman John Bloor, who licensed a company called Racing Spares in Devon, run by Les Harris to manufacture the T140 Bonneville. These continuation bikes are known as the 'Devon Bonnevilles', which did not reach the market until 1985, and were not sold in the U.S. Production ended in 1988For more info please call Steele's Cycle at 303-781-5339 or visit our showroom for a test ride! For Sale: 1973 T-140V (5-speed) 750 Triumph Bonneville with only 13276 original miles! Many new items including electronic ignition; two oil filters; coil; solid state voltage regulator/rectifier; battery; bearings; shocks; exhaust system; sprokets; seals; etc. etc. etc. Installed an oil cooler with a new synthetic oil change and new trans oil change. Gone thru and adjusted everything, cleaned and refitted the carbs (new floats and needles). This bike runs great, idles smooth with plenty of power and no spit back. Comes with most of the original OEM parts and with the front wheel/disc/matching tire to rear wheel. I fabricated the dual braking system: Pull knob up - front brake. Push knob down - front and rear brake. They work great! The brakes can be converted back to a single front cable only if you like (I will change it) Serious inquires only!!! Price is $4995 cash only. Thanks for looking. Test ride is $4995 in my hand and a helmet on your head. Please Call: 507-429-8890
