I am selling my Restored 1981 Honda XR500R dual purpose street legal. Has been restored completely. Every part on this bike has been replaced or restored. Engine was rebuilt with stock Honda parts. Powder coated frame. New DOT tires. Has fender tool bag. Has a extra fuel cell mounted to bars. Hand guards and bark busters. New chain and sprockets. Rebuilt suspension. Is a very smooth running bike. Great for on and off road. Has two rides on rebuild.

great condition for it's age - runs and shifts smoothly - all original except bolt on passenger pegs - not sure about tail light, could be era aftermarket everything works, brakes work fine, no dent in gas tank, original Honda plastic parts, original tool bag. needs fork seals. front brake lever slightly bend. can be tagged in Georgia with bill of sale.

You will need to pick this up in person or send someone to pick it up for you. I am in Kingsburg California, 20 miles south of Fresno right off of the 99 freeway. You might try putting it up for bid to the mom & pop independent shippers on uship. 1984 HONDA XR500 MOTORCYCLE. Nice vintage dirt bike. Has California title. Tag are expired in 2009. From a moving sale this weekend. Owner started it. I'm just a seller & I have a torn hip muscle, on Doctors orders & medication so no lifting, bending or stretching, so I won't be kicking on it lol. Seat has some rips but he gave me a new black cover for it. Looking at it I see one of the motor mounts is cracked so you will want to weld it ( see picture ). I did push on the kick start with my left / good leg & compression feels strong. If the item is listed as used or vintage please don't expect a new or like new item. Awesome survivor low original mileage Honda 500R. Rebuilt top end including new piston and rings with rebuilt cylinder head! Fresh, not even broken in yet. I have built several of these bikes in my younger days and still ride a built to the hilt 82 xl so I am very familiar with these motors. I am only selling this one because I have no interest in collecting, only riding these old jewels and since I can't ride 'em both at the same time one has to go. New o ring chain, new factory original grips and new clutch and brake levers. Still wearing her original speedometer!! Plastics are orig. as well although the rear fender has a crack. Very fast bike ready to ride. The 81-82 xr's are becoming increasingly harder to find in any condition. They were the first pro-link suspension thumpers. This bike is just under 300 lbs. Honda completely redesigned the bike and motor for the 1983 model year. (never quite hitting the mark imho) Sold with a bill of sale only. Will work with buyer to ship anywhere, and no. It is not cheaper to send it in pieces, this aint no ct70. This from MCS... When the rider clicks the XR into gear, he feels the 500 accelerate smoothly right from idle. In light of Honda's fondness for high-rewing engines, it « not surprising that the XR quickly builds power into the high rpm range One does not ordinarily want to keep a btg four-stroke single spinning hard because of the vibration, but the XR is controllable and offers its best power up high. But this doesn't mean the Honda is lacking in tow-end power; check these figures out. The XR develops 11.82 horsepower and 24.82 pounds/feet of torque at 2500 rpm—barely above idle. At 3500 rpm it's producing 17 horsepower and 26 lbs/ft of torque, compared to 13 horsepower and 19 lbs/ft of torque developed by last years Yamaha TT500. While the XR makes its best power at 6500 rpm (33.44 horsepower), it doesn't penalize overrewing, continuing to produce nearly 27 horsepower up until 8500 rpm. This powerband is superb: it lets the rider power out of tight situations, chug up hills effortlessly and relax while he trail rides There is also a predictable but abundant surge of power m the mid-range, at which point it's incredibly easy to wheelie the machine in the first three gears. Thanks to its smooth powerband. riding the Honda is above all tun. 1979 Honda Xr 500R, A 1979 Honda xr500 as shown in first picture is how I received it. I then stripped it down to the frame, removed all rust and paint then spray primed it. had to get rid of the: seat, front fender, tool bag, battery, hand grips and some small parts. have the engine, carb, frame, tank, ect. fuel tank has dents but is useable. one of the 2 tires is flat, engine compressed but doesn't completely turn over, although it has for me before. took the side panels of the engine off and all hat I could see was that one of the teeth on the gear was broken off. not much to go by but it is in parts right now. good project bike with 500cc power. Don't have the time or money to completely fix it up. Make me an offer must be local pickup, don't have a large enough vehicle to haul anywhere $0.00

This Honda XR500, 1981, has been fully restored better than new. Updated head and tail light, all new plastic. Has new tires 50/50 off road on road. Engine has been gone through, bored 1st over, all new gaskets and bearings. Powder coated red frame. Hand guards. Tool bag. New seat cover. Every part on this bike has been replaced on redone. Has new front and rear wheel bearings and seals. Bike been rode about 50 miles. Is a first kick starting machine. Forks and shock have been rebuilt. Great bike is ready to ride.
