This is not a recent cafe build. I don't know for sure if this bike was raced or not, but I suspect it was in the 70's. There are alot of receipts dating back to 1986, mostly electrical parts, fork parts etc. One early invoice states the engine has an S2 cam and cut pistons. There's also a Dunstall 1974 850 electrical schematic.

1974 Norton 850 Commando – Barn Find - 7104 Original Miles One Owner – Original Texas Title and Chilton’s Manual Bought new in 1974 - in storage unit since 1977. Poor fellow fell in love and the little lady made him park it. Two good parts to this story; he still has his lovely wife and someone can now put this great bike back on the road. When he parked it he did it right – all fluids properly drained. The Norton still looks great, as you can see from the pictures. The surface rust on the chrome seems to polish up nicely, before I ran out of motivation to keep polishing. All original as it came out in ’74. Includes storage rack, backseat rest and the factory alarm system. It has not been fired up since we got it, but has good compression. Looking forward to hearing if the new owner plans to keep it as original or build a café racer. I’d love to make it mine, except already have three other projects going.

Very original 1974 roadster in candy red with original tool kit and both Union keys (ignition & fork lock). I planned on keeping this forever so I put Hagon shocks and 750 style header pipes with 750 exhaust nuts etc. to make it a reliable and comfortable bike.  This is 90% untouched, no wrench marks on engine bolts etc. no broken fins, original frame paint and chrome.  This has been freshly tuned, fluids, carbs, tires etc. and is ready to ride.  Starts well, runs strong very original. The Good: -          Very low original miles -          Original frame tag in great condition -          Original Candy Red Paint on side covers, tank was professionally repainted recently (Steel tank and side covers) -          Original Smith Speedo Drive -          Both original Union keys (fork lock & Ignition) -          Manuals and original tool role / pouch -          Original lucas glass (blinkers, taillight, headlight) -          Original hearingbone oil lines -          Gauges are functioning and nice -          New Dunlop k81’s -          New seat cover -          Fenders are original and in great shape -          Fork seals are new -          Clutch is new -          Battery is new -          Brake hose new - Front -          New K&N filter in original airbox -          New hagon rear shocks -          Both Center stand / side stands all there etc. The Not As Good: - I shortened the front signal stems as my personal preference.  The right front stock has chrome pitting. - Side covers have a few nicks and scratches / fading

Norton Commando 850. Excellent condition rider quality bike. Ridden occasionally - 15k miles. Not a showpiece, but could be parked at any bike meet and it will draw people in. This is a rider that could be left as-is, or easily done a slight rolling restoration. The 850 Commandos are wonderful and long-respected bikes for a real reason. This one has been converted to single carb for easier running/tuning, and appears to be a late 74 with right side shift. Matching numbers engine and frame. Better condition than many I've seen restored. More photos - :// /user/greggearhead/library/BP/1975%20Norton%20Commando

This 850 Commando was actually found in a barn and purchased after some initial restoration from a collector in Buchanan, VA by me. I have been working at making it street simple and have completed many improvements over the years. Electronic ignition and a single Mikuni carburetor were added as well as turn signal lights. The tank was repainted and the inner layer creamed. A lot of the original parts are in my possession as well as the hardcover shop manual and service records.

This 1973 Norton Commando Interstate 850 has been fully restored to show quality while sporting some upgrades for improved reliability and performance. This Commando is known as the “Interstate” edition because of its increased fuel capacity from 2.6 to 6.3 gallons. It features an 828 cc air cooled parallel twin engine good for 58 bhp and a 4 speed transmission. In its time, the Commando was known as one of the best motorcycles you could buy. In fact, Motor Cycle News named the Commando “Machine of the Year” for 5 years in a row. Today, it becoming increasingly hard to find Norton’s with their original engine and transmission. Not only is this Norton Commando beautiful to look at, but it’s reliable and ready to ride. It was bought from a motorcycle shop in Seattle and brought to Pittsburgh by its current owner. The owner has spent thousands restoring and upgrading this motorcycle so you don’t have to! Below is a link to our website with a guide to what improvements were made to the Commando by the current owner. The restoration was completed in April 2016. http://fortpittclassiccars.com/listings/1973-norton-commando-interstate-850/

1974 Dunstall Norton Commando 850. Freshly painted and matched to the original blue. The oil tank was rebuilt by CNW, (and they did their gear box cover polishing and seal modifications) A new, anti-sumping timing cover (MKIII) was sourced from Norvil. A new NOS master cylinder, and rebuilt wheel cylinder were installed, along with a Pazon electronic ignition and rebuilt Speedometer and tachometer. A new Dunstall 2-1-2 header system is installed. New chain and sprockets. New cables. New tires on what I believe to be the original Borriani Record Alloy rims. The center stand is correct as are the fork stops, rear sets. Almost all of the old parts were saved and come with the bike The engine and gearbox have matching numbers. The Norton Club of England has no record of this bike, although the bike seems to have been titled a “Dunstall” Clear Florida title. Side covers are not original. This Norton rides fine, and starts easily.

1975 Norton Commando , 1975 Norton Commando Mark III Roadster VIN# 850F330055 Mileage: 16,071 Engine 850 cc My family has owned this classic motorcycle for 31 years, since purchasing it in 1981 from a young professor in Durham, NH. You would be the third owner. Always garaged and pampered, this cherry red classic English bike has 16,055 original miles. It is in superb condition and looks as beautiful up-close as it does in the pictures. The fastest production motorcycle of the mid-1970s, the Norton 850 cc twin engine kicks out beastly torque and speed. This motorcycle is not for the faint of heart. Its a firm ride, and gallops best at high rpms. If you want the best in a classic, eye-catching, all-original, powerful English twin, this motorcycle is for you.
