For sale is a classic BSA Thunderbolt that has been in the family since it was purchased from the factory in the late 1960's. Everything about this BSA is original and it only has 1148 miles with numbers matching from the frame to the engine. Last time this bike was on the road was in 1975, it has been safely stored ever since, and bike has started and ran within the past five years. Mechanically speaking this bike is in good shape, only repairs needed are minor touch up to the chrome trim due to slight pitting, and small rip to side cover of bike. This is a 1971 BSA A65 Thunderbolt 650. It has been sitting in a garage for many years out of use. I bough the bike from the 2nd owner and it comes with a clear title. The speedo shows 8,760 miles. On april 20, 2015 I made sure there was oil in it and I put gas in the tank. It fired up after 3 kicks. for about a minute it smoked badly, then cleared up. Since then I have run it a few times and driven it around the yard with no smoke. It will still need carb work, it leaks gas out of the bowl and is dirty from sitting. The twist throttle mechanism or cable will also need some attention. The slightest turn of the throttle will bring the RPMs way up. The bike shifts through all the gears. This is a great project bike. I am not too familiar with the English bikes, so please ask any questions before bidding and I will do my best to answer them. This bike is being sold as is. I did notice a broken turn signal lens in the front, the right side of the tank is dented around the emblem. the rear loop/fender bracket has a broken off tube of some sort. It looked to maybe be a sissy bar mount? It should be visible in one of the pictures. The right side peg looks to be bent. Remember, it is a 40+ year old motorcycle, it has its fair share of scratches, scrapes and scuffs. Frame # CE02780A65 Motor # CE 05308 A65T I will not make any shipping arrangements. No garage queen, my 1971 BSA Thunderbolt is sorted and ready to ride. I recently took it in a ride along the entirety of Route 66, and had no mechanical or electrical issues. Who says British bikes can’t be reliable! I began with a stock, low mileage bike previously owned and serviced by Burt Barrett, president of the BSA Club of Southern California. I updated it with a PKK carburetor and a Sparx voltage regulator. I also installed new Dunlop K70 tires, tapered roller steering head bearings, chain, brake shoes, brake and clutch cables, ignition and fork lock tumblers, air filters, petcocks, ignition coils & wires, condensers, etc. The gas tank has been resprayed in the original green and white colors. Inside the tank is in very good condition. My BSA includes the coolest luggage setup you’ll likely ever see. It has a one of a kind, custom Craven-style rack made by Iron John of Canada (which set me back over $500). Check out the red “BSA” reflectors. Mounted to the rack is a set of authentic Craven Comet saddlebags, with key! I had these imported from England (also at a cost of over $500) and made brackets to attach the bags to the rack. This bike is great fun to ride, with classic quick British twin handling in the corners and decent brakes.

Single family owned original 1971 BSA Firebird Scrambler with under 5,000 miles (approximate). The bike sat indoors and protected in our family house for over 30 years. The bike was just fully serviced by one of the most reputable shops in NYC for vintage european bikes. Any part that was worn from sitting was replaced with brand new parts, new tires and new inner tubes. Bike runs great!BSA '71 650 cc Firebird Scrambler, twin carb, oil in frame model. Original high pipes replaced with street pipes.  Front sprocket changed for lower rpm at highway speed. Missing speedometer and cable to rear wheel. Gas tank coated to prevent rust.  Also added an oil pressure gauge but is currently not hooked up. All paint is original. Been sitting in garage for 35 years.
