The generator works by using fixed coils charged by six rotating powered coils (not magnets as is usual on motorcycles) which are geared off the clutch. This allows more power to be produced at lower revs and to suit the consumption of the Tiger Explorer and its accessories. It also avoids the need to overproduce power and to dissipate excess heat. The result is less energy wastage, better economy and less ‘performance drag’ on the engine. The Tiger Explorer is also fitted with a power socket conveniently located close to the ignition for powering your GPS unit or your items of heated clothing. This arrangement has given rise to a unique combination of tourer, racer and city bike.
