Motorcycle was taken apart rims and frame were repainted.Engines was gone through anything that needed to be replaced was gaskets etc.Has 28400 miles on the original odometer has maybe 100 miles since it was put back together.New electric push start,new cables,new battery, and slightly used tires.Cafe seat with hinges, has original tool bag with tools.registration was just updated until September 2015The bike needs a carb clean due to sitting for a little bit that is all it needs. It does start and run however.Bike also has one dent on top of the tank.The tank is bare so it is ready to be painted or just clear coated.The kickstart does not work. This is a 1978 Yamaha XS 750 Special. It starts and runs goo, shifts smoothlyb through all gears and clutch and brakes work fine. The engine is not original. I believe it is from a 76 but not sure.The original air box has been removed and aftermarket air filter system installed. In line petcocks have been installed as over several months the petcocks leak a bit. Out on the road this machine is a pure joy to ride! It is smooth, powerful and handles excellently. What stuff does it need??? 1) rear tire is dry cracked. It would be a good idea to replace both tires. 2) the OEM air box has been ditched in favor of an aftermarket system 3) The head light does not turn on. It was working fin and then stopped. I have not taken the time to figure out why. May be a blown bulb, fuse??? I do not know. I am sure it is something very simple I encourage anyone interested to come take a look at it in person, poke & prod and take it for a short ride. 1978 Yamaha XS750D, 1978 Yamaha XS750E Absolutely amazing condition and runs like a dream. 18,981 original miles. Inside of tank is completely clean. Bike was always stored indoors in a heated garage and the paintwork and chrome work show this definitively! Hardly any pitting at all. Exhaust has no rust and only one small dent. Bike was never crashed or knocked over. Shaft drive with a 5 speed transmission. Good clutch and brakes work well. Tires in good shape. All lights and electronics work as they should. Comes with easily detachable windshield. Small tear in seat cover. The sound of the 750 triple exhaust is absolutely incredible. I am the third owner of the bike. 1978 Yamaha Xs750 , 1978 yamaha xs750 stripped down and built from the ground up. Has like 200 miles on the rebuild New seals, all painted left the tank bare because i like it that way. New cables, new battery all about a year ago.if you see it you can tell. Havent had time to ride it so need to get rid of it. Been sittin for a month run great but should have a carb clean/adjustment. Very small oil leak out of a wire cant remember the name of the part can call mechanic and ask him. Cheap and easy fix havent had time to fix it nor is it a big deal leaks a drop or two every now and then. 1978 Yamaha XS750 Special motorcycle, in a triple configuration, with a shaft drive, and a first for that year, electronic ignition. This is as fine of an example of this bike as you will see anywhere, outside of a museum. This is not a barn find; I got the bike from a retired motorcycle mechanic who had several bikes, but this one was his 'baby', and it shows. Always kept inside and lovingly maintained. I have gone through this bike and it needs nothing, except a new rider. It has had: --New tires, zero miles on them --New tank and side cover badges --New black lacquer paint, correct for the period --New grips and controls --Valves adjusted --Carburetors cleaned and rebuilt with new diaphragms on the slides --New spark plugs --New NGK plug caps and correct 7mm solid core spark plug wires --New clutch cable --All bearings good, brakes good and battery good --Both fuel petcocks rebuilt --New OEM carburetor boots --Gas cap rebuilt --Gas tank lined --Oil and filter changed, air filter serviced All electronics work, bike starts right up and runs awesome. Bike is 100% original and complete, even down to the tool pouch under the seat. If you live in the Tucson area, I would make myself available for inspection, and a test ride, provided you have a license with a valid motorcycle endorsement. I will not ship the motorcycle, however if you desire to have it shipped, you will need to make all of the arrangements, payment, etc. In this case I will do what I can to facilitate the shipping, meet the people who pick it up, etc. I am also including Japan as a country I will sell to. I do not normally do this, but it would be kind of neat to 'expatriate' the bike back to where it was born.
