BMW 1958 R26 Motorcycle Matching Numbers Rare Restored Rebuilt Running Up for sale is a BMW 1958 R26 Motorcycle with matching numbers: Motor Rebuilt from crankshaft up at Irv Seaver Motorcycles, Orange California Head rebuilt by Randy Long Gearbox has been gone through and appropriate bearings and other parts replaced Rear drive has been inspected and reassembled Carburetor is a 1/26/123 #53 as recommended by Bing Agency for smooth and predicable running Original carbonator is included with the extra parts also part of this sale Voltage regulator is electronic type The original voltage regulator is also included with the extra parts also part of this sale New Westco battery, also included is the battery tender charger All wiring ends have been re-soldered and have a new junction block All switches are functional, turn signal switch is new issue Hella which go into an electronic blinker control to the bar end signals Battery cover is new reproduction Benchmark Works side stand Wheels have been re-spoked at time of restoration with stainless steel spokes and original rims and hubs with new bearings Hardy disc has been replaced New brake shoes riveted on (front brakes squeak a little, would recommend bonded shoes as a replacement in the future) Steering head bearings are of taper type Muffler replaced, original header pipe re-chromed Reproduction coffee can tail light Hand controls have been powdered coated and all new lined cables Hand controls are fitted to handle bars with appropriate wedges Koni shocks all around New reproduction seat, seat spring and luggage rack Body work painted around 2001, all other black parts such as frame are done in powder coat Headlight lens appears to be original Neutral indicator light will not always stay on, do not see it worthwhile to open up the transmission to bend the tab Over the years during the restoration, all parts that are original and serviceable have been retained, otherwise new replacements were found through either Benchmark Works or Blue Moon Cycles. Tires: Metzler tires are of a type best suited for driving on California highways, but you may choose to replace with more accurate tire types based on region and road conditions New cylinder base gasket installed along with new rings and a lapping in of the valves This is the only regularly operational R26 in this part of California.
