2005 BMW R 1200 GS, I'm the second owner, bought it at 29k miles. Now at 68k. 95% miles on road (about 3/4 highway smooth touring), 5% dirt roads and some double-track trails. I've ridden this bike for 7 years, have taken meticulous care (above and ahead of the BMW recommended services) of all the important stuff. It's been kept in a carport at night and a garage at work during the day (when I ride it there). BMW recommended services (and for all those services that the bmw gs rider community knows to do but BMW sometimes "officially" ignores), as well as basic maintenance like oil changes, final drive oil change, brake fluid change, etc. have been done at least, if not more, regularly than is recommended. When I first bought it I had the drive shaft replaced under warranty because of worn splines...no issues in the past 39k miles of riding. And no other major mechanicals, lay downs, crashes etc. Only a couple no-speed tip overs. I'm selling because I have a 2 year old daughter, am out of the game for long touring, and am going to downsize to a dirt bike/small dualsport for local front range riding. And though I've enjoyed the brilliance of this bike as the do-all tourer, I don't hammer on my gear, so it's never been red-lined or abused in other ways...thought I'd have this bike forever, so I treated it that way. BMW OPTIONS ABS, HEATED GRIPS, ALL THREE VARIO CASES WITH MOUNTING HARDWARE (top case has some cosmetic damage on the top). THE AFTERMARKETS... 1. SUSPENSION: This past winter I bought a Hyperpro 360 Emulsion Front shock, a Hyperpro 460 Emulsion rear shock with hydraulic pre-load adjustment, and a hyperpro RSC progressive steering damper with mounting kit...all about $2000 worth of an amazing change in suspension, and the adjustable (from off to 23 clicks-super stiff, done with a finger) steering damper can stiffen the chassis on-road in a way that makes the GS handle tightly more like a street bike, and off road reduces tank slap in sand or on bigger rocks. And another great part is that the suspension guru, Klaus at EPM Performance ( :// /) included a redeemable coupon (transferable) with the shocks for a free rebuild anytime...they recommend at 25k miles. 2. Leo Vince slip on exhaust 3. Hepco-Becker crash bars 4. PIAA 510 halogen lights pair 5. Blinking wired-in LED extra brake lights 6. Throttlemeister "poor man's" cruise control 7.
