With the most powerful engine in the field and an ultra-light, sturdy chassis, it has nothing to fear from any full-size bike. Features May Include: Frame The frame made of high quality, chrome-molybdenum steel with a lightweight aluminium rear end guarantees maximum stability at a minimum weight. Its hardwearing powdercoating is still in a classy anthracite metallic. Graphics The revamped, cool graphic design provides the bike with a striking new appearance. Bodywork The bodywork is designed ergonomically and functionally in such a way that the motorcycle is in perfect harmony with the rider. Handlebar The 85 SX is equipped with an extremely sturdy, tapered Renthal handlebar made from high-grade aluminium alloy, which features an offset specially designed to meet the demands of motocross. Chasis The proven 43 mm upside-down fork with 270 mm of suspension travel and the PDS shock absorber ensure optimum traction and suspension comfort on the KTM 85 SX. Rebound and compression damping can be adapted individually to track and rider in no time at all. Swingarm As before, the newly developed swingarm is manufactured from lightweight aluminium in the form of a single casting. The very latest calculation methods have allowed weight to be reduced by 500 grams. Furthermore, newly designed chain links and brake-hose brackets plus the proven chainguide from the full-size SX models have been employed. Engine State-of-the-art 2-stroke technology in conjunction with a precise 6-speed transmission and a hydraulic clutch provide the basis for the superiority of the 85 SX in all junior race series. Cylinders The compact cylinder with 47 mm bore ensures that the 85 SX achieves peerless performance thanks to the ports dimensioned for optimum gas flow and the centrifugally-controlled exhaust valve. A reworked rear transfer port guarantees even better durability. Clutch The 85 SX engine is equipped with a modern, hydraulic clutch actuation system from FORMULA, which guarantees smooth and very precise clutch control. Wheels The wheels are fitted with lightweight, CNC-machined hubs and high-end Excel rims, plus black-coated spokes with lightweight aluminium nipples, guaranteeing highest levels of stability while keeping weight to a minimum. The 85 SX is now equipped with the very latest generation tire from MAXXIS, featuring a profile that gives optimum grip on every surface.

Features May Include: ENGINE The new 250 XC-F engine is based on the similar overall design of its predecessor, with some major refinements to make this power plant more compact and lighter, with the production of improved torque and power across the entire rpm range. Perhaps one of the most impressive benefits of the new design is a weight reduction of 2 lbs, while still including the incredibly beneficial electric starter. The reworked engine guarantees an improved power curve over the entire rev range up to 14,000 rpm, which makes the new 250 XC-F a winner for both amateur and professional riders. ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The completely reworked Keihin Engine Management System with electronic fuel injection features an all-new 44 mm throttle body, which provides instantaneous response and maximum performance thanks to a revolutionary injector position. The new ECU (Engine Control Unit) includes a launch control for more efficient starts with the provision of different maps according to the gear sensor selection. In addition, the rider can activate an optional map for a different power delivery via the map select switch on the handlebar. CYLINDER HEAD The centerpiece of the compact DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) engine is the new cutting-edge cylinder head. It features improved combustion chamber geometry, two 150 g lighter overhead camshafts with new timing, plus a friction-optimized super-fine surface, new finger followers with a 30 % harder DLC coating and a reworked timing drive (friction reduced and shorter DID timing chain, new sprockets and chain guides). New valve springs and retainers for the four lightweight titanium valves (intake 32.5 mm, exhaust 26.5 mm) and high-flow ports create a maximized flow rate for an optimal power band and maximum performance, all the way up to a redline of 14,000 rpm. BRAKES High-tech Brembo brakes have always been standard equipment on KTM off-road bikes, and now are combined with newly designed and weight-reduced Wave discs made by GALFER featuring improved heat resistance. Weight reduction is 63g on the front disc, and 32 g for the rear. This is the ultimate solution in braking technology. FUEL TANK All XC-F models have new lightweight polyethylene tanks fitted with an integrated fuel pump system and capacity of 2.25 gallons. Features May Include: ENGINE The compact 60hp power pack with a single overhead camshaft and the latest electronic fuel injection is distinguished by unrivaled performance and a highly efficient power delivery . Thanks to a revised crankcase, the weight is reduced for 2014. DDS CLUTCH The 450 employs the KTM-developed DDS clutch (damped diaphragm steel) with a wear-free steel basket and extremely heat resistant clutch plates. This design is distinguished by employing a diaphragm spring instead of the usual coil springs, which makes for a considerably easier clutch action. Strengthened for 2014, the diaphragm spring also leaves sufficient space for a damping system integrated into the clutch hub, which benefits both traction and durability. A stronger inner hub further increases stability. The hydraulic Brembo clutch mechanism with a new master cylinder guarantees a light operation and highly controllable modulation of the clutch. BALANCER SHAFT In order to balance the mass-forces, the 450 engine uses a multifunctional counter balance shaft which also drives the water pump and timing chain. The engine receives a new water pump cover with a new gasket in order to optimize the seal. CYLINDER HEAD Inside the 450 XC-F engine s cylinder head, an overhead camshaft controls four ultra-lightweight titanium valves via extremely rigid rocker arms which are DLC-coated on the intake side. This configuration allows engine speeds up to 11,500rpm, a major contribution to the unique performance of the large displacement KTM engine. In 2014, a new three-layer head gasket is used that guarantees more durability under the most extreme conditions. In addition, the camshaft has received a strengthened auto-decompression mechanism. AIR BOX The airbox design offers maximum protection of the air filter against dirt while ensuring maximum airflow for top performance. The Twin Air filter can be changed without tools in seconds, a standard for KTM. SWINGARM The cast aluminium swingarm has been developed with state-of-the-art calculation and simulation software and constructed, in terms of design and wall thickness, for minimum weight with optimum stiffness and precisely defined flexibility.
