Up for sale is a custom made Indian Board Track Racer Replica. This bike has been custom built to achieve the vintage look that Board Track Racers of the early 1900's had. The bike includes a custom frame, a very nice springer fork for a better ride, a custom made gas tank, oil tank, custom exhaust, chain tensioner tab and a seat post with a hand made leather formed seat. It also has 2.125 x 26 white tires that really look great and give it that old fashioned look! It has an 80cc two stroke engine that starts easily and runs very well. The bike can go between 30 to 40 mph after the break-in period which is usually about 2 gallons of gas. This is a very fun bike to ride or just display. This is my indian board track replica that has been finished to replicate the race bikes of days gone by. Most can not obtain or afford original board track racers , these replicas can fill that niche. The bike was built by studio designs to replicate a barnfind 1918 racer. This bike was intended as a working pit bike,but i never used it as of yet - however due to moving plans in sept. Up for auction is a barnfind replica adult owned, with a new 80cc two stroke motor, the bike is comprised with old a newer parts,all steel construction. The drive train, wheels and tires are new to ensure reliability, parts are abundant if needed.The bike has a 47 inch wheel base with coaster brakes. The rear stand is included and attached to rear axle to display and start bike if so intended. The barnfind patina has been replicated from the many 100 year old example displays of autos and motorcycles at the Hery Ford museum in Dearborn, michigan. Since this is a ridged frame motorized bike regular tinkering may be required as do all antique ridged bikes do.The bike has been started but nort ridden, due to display indoors. The first mass produced motorcycle, the Indian, appeared in 1901; it was followed in 1903 by Harley Davidson. Between 1910 and 1920, teams of riders competed against each other in large tracks built especially for board track racing. The tracks, called motordromes, were made of rough-cut lumber and banked steeply - sometimes more than 60 degrees. The early racing motorcycles were essentially bicycles with powerful engines but no brakes. They had to be towed by other motorcycles to start them. Speeds of 100+ miles per hour were common and collisions and crashes occurred regularly; often, riders would be upended when their bikes hit 2X4s that had become worn or warped. By the early 20s, local governments began to crack down, closing tracks, and the motorcycle companies that sponsored teams began instituting rules to limit speeds. This bike is brand new and was just field tested by Hi-Tech Cycle in Holiday, FL. It has an 80cc 2 cycle engine and is capable of speeds of 35-40 MPH. 2 cycle engines have higher torque than 4 cycle engines and are preferred for racers of this type. Replica of an early 1900's Indian Boardtracker. Every effort has been taken to closely replicate the original Indian Board Track Racer from the pre-war era. Must have for a vintage pre war motorcycle enthusiast or pre war Americana collector. 26" wheels, rear is extremely heavy duty (worksman wheel, hub and spokes). CNC machined custom made sprocket adaptor. Vintage front drum brake hub. Modified custom worksman frame (stretched 4.5") with period correct drop loop, custom saddle mounting. Antique leather saddle. Custom in-frame steel gas tank with a glass bowl filter. Copper fuel line and a custom air filter. Antique short stem (like the originals) supporting custom cut and clamped boardtracker handlebars. a "63" number plate facing the front along with a functional horn. Custom designed kill switch (just like some of the originals). All powered by a 49cc rope-pull Honda clone engine with a centrifugal clutch. 1920 INDIAN DAYTONA board track racer replica. The forks have been lengthened to allow for the look of the leaf spring suspension. The frame was then cut apart to be lengthened; new tubing was bent, and then put back together. The fuel tank will hold well over one gallon of pre-mixed fuel. The tank is made out of 14 gage sheet steel with a tank liner put in after it was done so there will be no corrosion in the years to come. The seat has been reformed to fit the bike and the handlebars were custom bent and zinc plated with vintage looking coke bottle grips to give you the look and ride from that time period. The motor is a two stroke 80cc with a custom air intake and a billet high compression head which is a nice upgrade. This board track racer is still in its break in period and after that it will run about 35 – 38 mph. I have ridden this bike for about 5 miles and every time I ride these bikes I draw a lot of attention – these bikes are a blast to ride or be on display. This bike is a true piece of art! It has countless hours on the paint to give it a patina look. I have been doing this kind of work for 28 years and no two bikes that I build are the same.
