1985 Honda Sabre VF700S, 1985 Honda Sabre VF700S with 47,950 miles. Bike is in overall good condition runs and drives great. The Honda VF700S Sabre Years produced (U.S.): 1984-1985 Total production: N/A Claimed power: 76hp @ 10,500rpm Top speed: 121mphEngine type: 699cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke V-four Weight (dry): 224kg (494lb)MPG: 28-48 Price then: $3,398 (1985) Price now: $750-$2,000 Available for just two short years from 1984 to 1985, the Honda VF700S Sabre was a touring bike that followed the V45 Sabre. It represents an interesting chapter in motorcycle history as one of a group of Japanese motorcycles referred to as the Tariff Busters. In the early 1980s, Japanese motorcycles were a thorn in ailing Harley-Davidson's side, and in 1983 H-D successfully lobbied for an International Trade Commission tariff to quell the overseas invasion of 750cc and larger motorcycles. Known as Section 202, the tariff was aimed squarely at Japan and levied a heavy penalty on bikes of 700cc capacity and over. It was expected to slow the Japanese onslaught and give H-D a leg up in the market. When protestations against the tariff failed, Japanese manufacturers responded by introducing new bikes with engines that fell just under 700cc. Honda responded by sleeving down its moderately successful 750cc V45 Sabre to 698.9cc. It was, by any measure a taunting, in-your-face rebuff to the new tariff. A technological tour de force when introduced in 1982, Honda launched the V45 Sabre with great fanfare. With its compact, 750cc liquid-cooled V4 engine bubbling over with features such as double overhead cams, four valves per cylinder and shaft drive, the V45 Sabre was supposed to be the spiritual heir to Honda's CB750 of 1969: it was not. While there was no questioning the V45's technical prowess, it failed to illicit the same excitement as the original CB750, and in fact was greeted only warmly by the buying public. With styling carried over from the V45 Sabre, the VF700S Sabre presented a sport bike image, something for hustling through corners and burning up the road. The menacing, blacked out finish suggested speed and grace, and the stretched out front fork gave the bike a long, hungry look.

1994 HONDA VF750, The Honda Magna was a cruiser motorcycle made from 1982 to 1988 and 1994 to 2003 and powered by Honda's V4 engine taken from the VF/VFR. The engine technology and layout was a descendant of Honda's racing V4 machines, such as the NS750 and NR750. The introduction of this engine on the Magna and the Sabre in 1982, was a milestone in the evolution of motorcycles that would culminate in 1983 with the introduction of the Interceptor V4.[1] The V45's performance is comparable to that of Valkyries and Honda's 1800 cc V-twin cruisers. However, its mix of performance, reliability, and refinement was overshadowed by the more powerful 1,098 cc "V65" Magna in 1983. 748 cc, bore x stroke 70 x 48.6 mm, 10.5 to 1 compressionTransmission 6-speed, straight-cut Gears, Multi-plate wet clutch, shaft drive.Suspension Front: Telescopic anti-dive Travel: 5.5in, Rear: Swing Arm, Travel: 3.9inBrakes Front: Dual 10.8in disc, Rear: 6.25in DrumTires Front: 110/90-18 Rear: 130/90-16Rake, trail 30° / 4.1 inWheelbase 60.6 inDimensions W: 29 inSeat height 30 inFuel capacity 3.7 US gallons, including 1 gallon reserve.Oil capacity 3.1 U.S. quarts; 2.9 litres

This 1982 Honda VF750S V45 Sabre was in running condition when stored 10 years ago.  It is an excellent candidate for restoration or a source of parts for your own V45 Sabre.HISTORYI'm the original owner.  Machine has lived in Los Angeles, CA area except for 2 years in VA during mid-90s.  It has always been garaged.  Driven in rain twice.  USEDaily driver for 5 years, weekend use til '95.  Then stored 10 years, recreational use a few years, stored til present day.  Odometer has 39K miles. Cosmetically good; spot rust thru chrome.MODIFICATIONSAdded "case saver" bar.  Installed 4-into-1 exhaust by RC Engineering (Russ Collins) and carbs re-jetted.  RC quality was disappointing; chrome too thin, muffler rusted through.  My cheesy fix w/ hose clamp & aluminum sheet is still in place. The OEM exhaust system is included.Humidity in my area makes DOT3/DOT4 fluid a problem.  I switched all my vehicles to DOT5 (silicone) fluid and love it lots.REPAIRS1982 was Honda's 1st year for the V4, and they had a design shortcoming in lubrication.  Honda replaced all 4 cams and 16 rockers under the warranty. The flow restrictor was removed to increase oil to the top end. I switched to synthetic oil (Amsoil).  No issues @ 39K miles; consider a ZDDP additive in future.  The stitching on the original seat failed; it was recovered with a similar aftermarket product. The fork tubes were replaced due to rust pitting on the leading surface.KNOWN PROBLEMSRubber turn signal mounts have rotted. You could hard-mount the lamps.Battery long dead. Hydraulics need to be overhauled. Front brakes still work but one caliper does not fully release. Clutch no longer functions; loss of fluid. Both M/C reservoirs have leaked DOT5 fluid that's loosened the grips. OEM rebuild kits for both M/Cs are included. The fiber optic feature in the integrated cable lock (alarm if cut) does not work. The cable is included. From extended storage, I would expect gum & corrosion in the fuel system, stuck vacuum-operated fuel valve, etc.INCLUDED ORIGINAL ACCESSORIESThe too-quiet OEM exhaust system, the FOIL (Fiber Optic Integrated Lock) cable, factory tool kit, ignition lock key.INCLUDED PARTSClutch Hub (almost new), Cam Chains (new), Cam Chain Tensioner Tower, Front Brake Master Cyl Rebuild Kit (new), Clutch Master Cyl Rebuild Kit (new), Fork Piston & Dust Seals, Front Brake Pads, Warning Unit Microcontroller (plastic case broken), Tail Light Lens (damaged; hole R side), 2 Oil Filters (1 Honda, 1 generic), Radiator Grill (re-installed after photos taken). Shop-made front paddock stand that works w/ case saver to lift front wheel (with rear on center stand) if you want it.INCLUDED DOCUMENTATIONOEM user manual, Factory Service Manual (loose leaf), Dealer Microfiche film (exploded parts).

1988 Honda Magna V45 SUPER, FOR THE SERIOUS HONDA COLLECTOR OR A MUSEUM ONLY.... I Will NOT Sell this bike to a novice rider or someone who has never owned or rode a Magna before. What you see here could be the newest ORIGINAL V45 SuperMagna in the USA, and possibly in the world. In the past 20 years I have never seen one of these bikes (and especially not an 88 750 model) with lower ORIGINAL miles in such a state of preservation as the bike I have here. I am (to the best of my knowledge) the 2nd owner of the bike, having bought it in 1993 from the original owner. At the time I bought the bike it had just under 1,400 miles on it, and as of today, it has 1,589. The bike has been fanatically preserved for most of the time I've owned it, and has spent most of its life in my heated garage or basement, and it has NEVER EVER seen snow or salt or rainy roads. There is not a single dent or scratch on the tank, and most of the chrome is near to showroom condition, the only wear showing is on the very bottom front of the exhaust pipes where there is some minor stains from being used during the first years of its life. Other than this, there are NO dents, and no corrosion on the exhaust. The seats and controls are also in near showroom new condition. The price I have listed is negotiable and open to offers (reasonable offers) and I do have the original Hondaline backrest, luggage rack, and windshield that can go with the bike, as well as a brand new NOS still sealed in the box replacement tank (an almost $1000 value right there) My ONLY reason for making this bike available for sale is because of lack of time for enjoying it and a Honda V-4 bike collection that is too large for me to properly maintain (more than 10 showroom condition Magna, Sabre, and Interceptors) Please contact me by email message or SMS to ask any questions or make an offer. Thanks. $9,999.00 9087979758

1982 Honda Sabre , This is a sweet VF750s, the V45 that started a new wave in low rpm / high torque engines. Hard to believe it was made in the eighties because it still looks like a more modern bike. We have recently put on new rubber, brakes and a battery. Even had the tank repainted this spring. The bike looks and runs very nice. Will be a great started bike for someone. Ask for Nick $1,600.00
