1940 Standard Sport Rex 350 Rolling chassis -- engine, frame, wheels, handlebars -- of the super-rare Standard, made in Germany. Company president Wilhelm Gutbrod founded Standard Fahrzeugfabrik in 1926, eventually moving the company to the city of Plochingen, where he produced motorcycles & cars. This is the Sport Rex 350 model with optional rear swingarm-plunger arrangement, making the Standard the first German bike to be equipped with modern rear suspension. Front suspension is by Standard's girder design. The engine, a twin-port, inclined-cylinder ohv single with bevel-shaft valve actuation, is largely complete, missing the rocker covers, bevel/shaft & magneto. All cylinder fins are intact, the front oil sump & rounded primary cover are without damage, the only exterior flaw is a missing chunk of the 'sling shield' above the countershaft sprocket (see photo 20). Condition of engine internals is not known but assume inspection/overhaul will be required. Brake drums appear to have been drilled for lightness/cooling by the former owner, noted machinist/collector Homer Knapp. Available for inspection by appointment, clear California title, exact mileage unknown. Note to international buyers: We offer free delivery to the shippers of your choice in/near the Port of Long Beach.

1985 WARTBURG 353 ALL ORIGINAL VERY NICE CONDITION FOR SALE VIN# 2007997 SOME HISTORY ON THIS WARTBURG 353 The Wartburg 353 was produced from 1966 to 1988, becoming the model with the longest-ever production run. During its lifetime it saw several changes and improvements, the most recognizable of these coming in 1985 with a front facelift , slightly different layout around the engine block and a new carburetor. The Wartburg 353 was the creation of the former German BMW production facilities (called EMW under Soviet occupation). It was based on a 1938 design, and powered by an engine with only seven major moving parts, crankshaft included. Popular saying among owners hence that one drives a car but only maintains a motorcycle. Domestically, it was used for government transportation, sometimes as a police car. Delivery of consumer builds often could take ten to fifteen years.! Like other Eastern European cars, it was known for its low price and comparatively well-equipped design. Because of its forward center of gravity and front-wheel drive, the car had specific road handling, sometimes displaying significant under steer, especially in wet conditions.( Unfortunately I had a couple of times enjoying it in rain, but once you know it pretty easy to do the donuts with it ) The Wartburg 353 was very agile for its time, powered by a 1-litre displacement, 3-cylinder unit that took almost two decades to refine. While developing about 55-57 bhp (depending on the carburetor type) its two-stroke engine design provided more than 100 N/m of torque (106 N/m in the last version). Typical figure for quite larger four-stroke engine at that time, it accelerated the less than a ton vehicle pretty decently even by modern standards. The transmission was equipped with a freewheel, obviating the need to use the clutch between gears. This turned out so popular with owners that it has become almost symbolic for a 353, along with the gear stick on the steering column. Designed as a fuel efficiency measure and as means of protecting the engine from oil starvation, the device disabled engine braking; the car effectively coasted whenever the throttle was released. Drivers had the option of turning the freewheel off through a switch under the steering column to benefit from engine braking. Useful since the front brakes were prone to overheating and fading. However, most drivers never disabled the freewheel, because it made shifting gears significantly easier and smoother, though not quicker. I have to tell you, I loved the freewheel option, going down on a long section on a highway you let the car just roll , engine is idling and you are doing top speed , FUN ! It is notable that even today the 353s are customized for reaching speeds well about 200 km/h (125 mph), whereas the original design called for critical speed of 150–155 km/h and 12 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph), which was dealt with in second gear due to the high-rev engine. The 353 was an immediate success throughout the Eastern bloc, and with good reason; for approximately the same price, it significantly outperformed Soviet vehicles of its class in almost every aspect: safety, drag, acceleration, top speed, fuel efficiency, ergonomics, handling, ease of use, maintenance, trunk and inner space, off-road capability, and even dynamics, despite its less powerful engine. The Wartburg 353 was commonly nicknamed "Trustworthy Hans" or "Farty Hans" by owners due to its durability and copious exhaust emissions, especially when cold and/or over oiled. Noteworthy characteristics of the model are: simple design, dependability, occasional and cheap maintenance, strong chassis-based car frame, front-wheel drive, rear wheel ABS regulator, a 525-litre trunk, innovative electronic gauges fitted after 1983. Disadvantages in terms of passengers' comfort are well known too: lack of any sound dampers led to significant engine feedback in the coupe which itself was in turn very boomy and reverberating, leading to another nickname, "The Barrel". This left very few Wartburgs equipped with stereo because it was not possible to enjoy that at volumes most people do, over the engine noise. Suspension provided for sensibly different handling and comfort when the car was empty over when it was carrying passengers and luggage. Owners' accounts are that both control and smoothness went better the more the car was loaded. I remember my Mom loved my Wartburg because of the huge trunk space , Also funny to keep the engine always revving like you want to race all the time but NO ! You are just looking for some torque and it only comes if you rev it, and revving it comes with a huge old school two stroke engine smoke . The other thing was - because the big trunk and interior space it was really hard to put your hands on one of them, very popular for small business owners . It was water cooled so the heater function worked also good combine with the big interior space and it was my favorite dating car. ABOUT THIS BEIGE WARTBURG 353 We recently got this All Original Wartburg 353 in our inventory. Due to the original owner kept the car in a garage and maintained it regularly the the whole car is in great-great original shape , We had nothing to do on it. Our test drive showed that the car is in excellent driving condition. The original paint is still in very good condition Please check pictures for the true original condition on this East German time capsule . The interior is close to original perfect condition. It came already with the updated gauges on the dashboard . The interior even smells like original The car has a tow hitch if you want to pull your Jet Ski . Come check it and take it for a Test Drive ! Take your 2 stroke Big Body Beige Freerunning Wartburg and have lots of Fun with it . Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

Here is a very rare rex mokick made by REX in Munich Germany in 1964. This is a must have for the excentric collector. 50cc 2 stroke fancooled motor coupled to a 3 speed footshift transmission, dual high pipes with heatshields and an Italian seat are some of the features that turn many heads. The earles frontend and the hooded headlight keep the wow factor going. 2 bing carburetors supply plenty of fuel for the 50cc engine. Seems like overkill but looks cool, as do the twin high pipes . I have cleaned out the gas tank and petcocks. The bike runs well and has a clean title. This bike is hard to find even in Germany. The new owner is probably going to be the only person to have one on the block or tri state area. For questions other than what the reserve is please call 214-707-9525.

About Me | See my other items | Email A Friend Description of [1958 BMW R69 for sale] We are offering for sale this lovely, low miles, 1958 BMW R69 w Meier Large Sport Tank. It's a beauty!!! This is one of the cleanest R69 offered for sale anywhere in the world at this time!!! Motorcycle runs and rides excellent! We have ridden the bike and shifted all 4 gears, it was a pleasure!! "The BMW R 69 VIN 653309 was manufactured on January 31st, 1958 and delivered on the same day to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. The bike was equipped with a bench seat." This 1958 BMW R69 is a successor of the rare and collectable BMW R68 and a predecessor of the famous Performance machine of the times, BMW R69S. This is a 2 kick motorcycle, it has factory spark advance mechanism, correct and super rare "ISGUS" speedo, Acron high lip aluminum rims with stainless spokes, matching carbs 1/26/09 and 1/26/10 respectively. Bike starts easily and drives like a 58 year old champ. Bike comes with a set of tools, lock key and 2 ignition keys. Very rare motorcycle less than 3000 ever produced. Restore or ride as is. This is an older restoration completed in at "BOB'S BMW World" in Chicago IL in 1998. The scope of work included following: * Engine disassembled, new pistons, cleaned slingers, * Transmission and rear differential gone over w new bearings and seals, * New Progressive Shocks, * 12V Conversion kit from Ed Korn installed, * Schorsch Meier Sport Tank Installed, * New paint and stripes, Recent tuneup was just performed by the same BMW mechanic that did the initial work in 1998. The R69 is high up on the list of desirable vintage BMW's. Of the post war bikes the R68 may be at the top, with the R69 being second. The first because it is the sportiest bike from a short post war period, the second because of limited numbers. This 1958 R69 was a new beginning for BMW, but just the first step in the evolution of the bike called the R69. As much as I love this bike, I just don't get to ride much these days, so it's time for it to go to a new home. A great vintage BMW R100/7 Motorcycle. I've owned it for 6 years. Recently re-lubed, cleaned the rear brakes, and a brand new battery. Fires right up. Could use some slight adjustments but overall very good for a 40 year old bike.  Everything functions as it should. Fairly clean, not showroom quality but a nice presenter. Always stored in my garage.  If you have more questions let me know! Shipping is possible via one of the many freight companies, but much rather you see it in person. Bike is for sale locally and will end the auction if it sells.  More pictures and video of the bike can be seen here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskCLAFYL The bike is listed as is, no warranties or other implications applied. It's a vintage bike.

This antique German Motorcycle is a collectors dream, Triumph BD 250, Year 1942, one owner, original German papers, original brochure from 1941, German Motorrad Magazin Article from 1941 (copy) describing the modern technical features of this motorcycle. Was taken off the road in 1958. Only owner was my late father-in-law. He renovated this motorcycle a few years back with new cylinder head, pistons, rims, tires, breaks and disassembled it to have it painted in the original civilian bordeaux red color. This Triumph BD 250 was a German army messenger bike in world war II with the possibility to mount a side car and a shift lever next to the sidecar mounting, so the soldier in the sidecar could shift, even if the driver was disabled. It was legally acquired from the Wehrmacht (German Army) by my late father-in-law in 1948. All original owner papers available. The Triumph is in my garage since a few years and I remember that my late father-in-law had it running. Since then it was stored inside my man cave (all liquids drained - no battery). Motor is moving free. There is a removable original second seat for the rear passenger, a spare seat and a spare, new cylinder head. All spare parts can still be acquired in Germany. The motorcycle has a new, clean US title. Motorcycle can be delivered for $0.30 per mile ex Naples, Fl. Because there are always questions about a "German Triumph" check out Wikipedia/Triumph (TWN) Triumph Werke Nürnberg

1956 year M-72 w/ SIDECAR ( MILITARY USSR STYLE)PROFESIONALY RESTORED POWERFUL MILITARY BIKE! GERMAN STYLE HISTORY Everywhere you look, this bike screams 1939! Frame, sheet metal, wheels, handlebars, tractor seats, exhaust, 750cc engine, 4-speed transmission, the list goes on and on. The story of Ural&Dnepr begins late in 1939. A secret meeting was held in the Defense Ministry of the USSR. The matter under discussion, what model of motorcycles was going to be the most suitable for Soviet Armed Forces. Now despite the fact that planed was peacefully split between two dictators right after the Molotov/von Ribbentrop pact, the Soviet Union, to be more specific Joseph Stalin, know it would soon be going to war with Adolph Hitler, the ruthless dictator of the German Third Reich. Most recent historic research proves that Joseph Stalin being as much a ruthless dictator as Adolph Hitler himself, if not more, was planning on striking the Nazis first, Joseph Stalin ordered the military to prepare all areas of operation, including ground forces. During the same time period there was also, unknown to the majority of the world, tremendous growth in the Soviet Air Force that would enable the Soviet Army to strike the Nazis first with a devastating surprise attack. Having seen the effects of Blitzkrieg (lighting war) against Poland, upgrading of military vehicles was of dominant importance to Joseph Stalin. Official version reads, after long discussion the BMW R71 motorcycle was found the closest match to the specific requirements and five of these motorcycles were secretly acquired in Sweden. Everything about the bike was reverse engineering and in early 1941 the first trial samples of M-72 motorcycles were shown to Marshall Stalin and the decision was made to produce them. Unofficially, and a more likely story is that the BMW factory supplied the construction drawings and casting molds. Transfers in technology had taken place, as a result of the Molotov/Ribbentrop Pact, in support of their soviet friends in different areas. Soviet engineers toured the German aircraft factories and had brought back complete cannons as samples. The OPEL Kadett was given to the Soviets just prior to the war however, it commenced series production only toward the end of the war as the Moskvitch 400. In 1941, BMW began series production the R75, and did not resume production of the R71. After the WWII the Factory was further developed and in 1950 the 30,000th motorcycle was produced. Since then over 3.2 million motorcycles, mainly sidecar outfits have been produced. The history of the URAL had begun with the glory of helping to defeat the terror of Hitler's armies on the Russian and European battlefields. The URAL was built for the military only, up until the late 1950's when another plant in the Ukraine (Kiev Motorcycle Zavod - KMZ) took over that job with same model, but different name - DNEPR and the Irbit Motorcycle Zavod (IMZ) began to concentrate on making bikes for domestic consumption. Today both plants manufacture bikes for domestic as well as for military needs. You are looking excellent Motorcycle M-72 of 1956y with sidecar. This R50/2 is surely one of the finest restored and documented of the landmark BMW motorcycles.Perfectly suited for the well-heeled collector or first time classic motorcycle buyer. This is a quality built numbers matching, one kick start motorcycle RARELY SEEN. This bike comes with original registration, documented from the Munich Germany police department, who purchased the motorcycle from the BMW factory. It remained in service for 10 years, then sold and brought to the USA. The bike was totally dis-assembled, the motor and trans was sent to Bench Mark Works, the upper and lower end, slingers and trans rebuilt. Bing did the carbs, Buchanan Spoke and Wheel did the rims with Metzler tires, Palo Alto rebuilt the speedometer which is in kilometers. The bike has the traditional after market Albert mirrors, Earl forks, the Hella Bar-End turn signals, with this beautiful Earnest Hoske racing tank, Pagusa seat with a German vintage rear pillion seat. All covered in green Glasurit paint and hand striped.
