SOLD........1973 BMW R60/5 SWB Black, Top-end Rebuilt, 10K Service, +++! This beautiful Vintage 1973 BMW R60/5 SWB is Very Clean and Factory Correct, except for the new Brown style sidestand. We rebuilt the top end, including new valves and guides and new 1st oversize pistons and rings. We also installed a new timing chain, and front motor seals. The bike was then run 600 Miles, and the 600 Mile oil & filter change, re-torque, and re-tune was been done. It has a pair of new replica /5 mufflers, new steering neck bearings, a new alternator rotor, new battery, new H4 Headlight lens & reflector, new grips, new original Continental braided cloth covered fuel lines, new Replica seat, new tires, plus more. It has just had a Major 10K Service. On the final test ride after we finished the 10K Service, we discovered slightly sticky shifting in one gear. We opened up the transmission, inspected, and decided to replace the whole output shaft assembly and rear output bearing (everything else was Very Good). New seals were installed. While we were there, we went ahead and inspected the clutch (replaced pressure ring for updated style), and inspected and lubed the clutch splines. The paint and stripes are in Very Good condition! The chrome is bright, and the aluminum is clean. There is a replacement tool tray, but no tool kit. The bike starts easily, and runs smoothly and quietly. 1972 BMW R60/5 "Toaster Tank", Black, 31,000 miles. This is a nice running, unrestored R60/5 (with the exception of new paint on the tank). The bike has no major maintenance issues and has always been stored inside. I am the fourth owner of the bike, having purchased it about 4 years ago. It's a great candidate for a full restoration, but definitely could be used as a daily rider. I ride it on average maybe a half a dozen times per month during the season, and it's always been reliable. I do keep a battery tender on it when not in use. Please email with any questions, I'd be glad to share all I can. I also have additional photos I can send.

1973 BMW R Series RA, BMW R60 /5 Years produced: 1970-1973 Claimed power: 46hp @ 6,600rpm Top speed: 102mph Engine type: 599cc air-cooled OHV opposed twin Transmission: 4-speed Weight: 440lb (wet) MPG: 45-50 The /5 models are air-cooled, four-stroke, opposed-twin (boxer) engines with hemispherical combustion chambers. The engine is built around a one-piece tunnel crank-case. The camshaft is driven by a duplex chain and is located below the crankshaft (unlike the /2 series which had the gear-driven camshaft above the crank). This reversed arrangement improves ground clearance for the same center of gravity and assists lubrication of the camshaft. Valves are actuated by the camshaft through hardened followers, push rods, and rocker arms. This classic motorcycle is all original and is in good running condition, all electrical devices work great, and it starts without issues. The chrome and paint need some care and conditioning, as seen in the photos, and the mechanicals are in good running condition. $3,200.00

1962 BMW R60/2, A stressed look has been seen on Bob’s face several times recently now that this exquisite machine is in the showroom and officially for sale. He took several months to finally decide that it was time to part with this special BMW and that only came to be because he located another special machine, not quite as old but one he’s been searching for even longer than he’s owned this one. And truth be told his passion has always been for unrestored completely original machines.Bob acquired this flawlessly restored example of BMW’s sturdiest and most dependable mount from the 1950’s and 1960’s over 15 years ago. It came to him from a very good friend, one he tried to hire for at least a decade to join his team and help expand the high end restoration services Bob’s BMW offers. Unfortunately, he did and still does other things for a living which financially reward him far in excess of what this industry can provide so it never came to pass. But the most perfect restoration he ever completed (or that has ever been accomplished) did end up in Bob’s hands following roughly 1,000 shakedown miles and break-in adjustments that all restorations should go through but unfortunately do not.It is, in our highly experienced opinion the finest and most accurately restored R60/2 BMW that you will ever see on this or any planet; for sale or not. We say that because when this machine was restored (1995-1997) it was accomplished by utilizing as many NOS (new old stock) original BMW parts as possible. Even the paint is exactly correct and very few restored bikes really have accurate paint jobs.It took close to 5 years before the restoration started to hunt down and acquire all the NOS and original (OEM) BMW parts to make it this a perfect restoration right down to the era of which the spares supplied came from. That’s detail. A great many of those parts came from Bob’s Used Parts and Bob’s BMW as once upon a time Bob succeeded in hunting down some fairly sizeable collections of these sought after items from individuals and defunct dealerships around the world. And the restoration was all undertaken on a very nice, all original machine that had only two previous owners since new and just over 20,000 original miles based on the details included in this acquisition.
