This is a 1979 Yamaha xs 650 Special with plans of building a Chopper or Cafe Racer out of it, but I realized I just got too many irons in the fire already. I bought it off of a guy I have purchoused several bikes from in the past, he purchoused it out of an estate. The bike is pretty complete except for missing throttle cables, and plastic tube grip slips on which you can see in pics. He had it running in the spring , but needs a battery now motor kicks over with good compressionno signs of ever being laid down or in an accident, one dent in top of tank looks like something fell on it, a small one on side, seat has been taped and a one side cover missing badge, In the 70s Yamaha designed this motor compete with british bikes like Triumph and BSA with style size and apperience making it a 650 twin with and exhaust angled outward but with the dependability of a Yamaha. This bike left as it would make a great rider, 60s 70s style chopper Bobber, or Cafe Racer. As I said bike came out of an estate so there is no title the bike is sold with notorized bill of sale wich is all needed in many states for a bike of this age, or can be used to obtain a title. $550 or reasonable offer open to trades for other bikes firearms etc..Thank YouTom Weatherby330-553-1946

Stock# 7092061977 Yamaha XS650The Yamaha XS650 is a mid-size motorcycle made by Yamaha Motor Company. The standard model was introduced in 1968 and produced through 1979. The "Special" cruiser model was introduced in 1978 and produced through 1985. The XS650 began with the 1955 Hosk SOHC 500 twin. After about 10 years of producing 500 twin, Hosk engineers designed a 650 cc twin. Later the Hosk company was acquired by Showa Corporation, and in 1960 Yamaha had bought Showa with Hosk's early design of 650 cc twin.When the Yamaha XS 650 was launched in 1968 it had one of the most advanced engines in its class of large parallel twin motorcycles. The engine and gearbox are unit construction with the crankcase split horizontally for ease of assembly whereas almost all contemporaries in its class in 1968 are either unit construction with a vertically split crankcase or pre-unit construction with separate engine and gearbox. The XS650's engine was used in AMA Professional Dirt Track Racing by national champion Kenny Roberts. 1979 Yamaha 650 twin engine, hard tail frame, New coffin tank, original Yamaha tank, two sets of triple trees, three sets of forks, battery box, All electronics including a pamplico electronic ignition. Seat, tall ape hanger bars, two set of seat springs(cloths pin & 4" coil), Two front rims, both with good tires, rear wheel with wide good rubber, two taillights, headlight, bullet signals, handlebar controls w/ extended brake line, front disc brake assy, front fender speedo, tach, All kinds of other parts including welding bungs, brake light switches, shifter levers etc. about the only thing missing is exhaust, & a rear fender! A little imagination, some work, and you will have a nice ride!
