1978 Honda Hondamatic , "Thaisa 001" 1978 Honda CB400A Hondamatic. 17,581 miles (ridden weekly). Restored Hondamatic, 2 speed traffic slayer! 55mpg with enough power to easily highway ride at speed. Restoration list: New: EBC Organic Brake pads (front and rear) Shinko Tires JT Sprockets cables (throttle, brake, choke) tail light - vintage ford "stop" saddle bags single baffle slip on exhaust stainless steel hardware fork gators All Balls Racing bearings (steering stem, front and rear axle) fluids (brake, oil, fork) fuel Filter drag Bar Renthal Grips throttle sleeve bar end mirrors "Thaisa 001" vinyl badges headlight brackets valve, exhaust, and clutch case Gaskets All Balls Racing fork seals turn signals LOUD horn NKG Spark plugs fuel lines Bikemaster trugel battery K&N Oil filter 530 O-ring gold chain ...more Im forgetting Rebuilt or sourced accessories: Carbs fully rebuilt and rejetted for Pod Filters and single baffle exhaust Valves adjusted to high spec Brake master cylinder rebuilt Chrome crash bar Polished cases, valve cover, swing arm ends, and many other bits Custom copper paint Custom fenders Rear suspension Cafe/brat style 2-up seat Gas tank CM400 Wheels ... more Im forgetting This is a fine restoration with an emphasis on safety, ride quality, and maintainability with a little flare for attention. This bike is a rider, the clutchless 2 speed is a dream in traffic and powerful enough across the band to have some fun and stay ahead of traffic. It handles great with the drag bars and a real pleasure to take out on the parkway or into the mountains. The 2 speed makes cruise nights, toy runs, and parades so much more enjoyable and less stressful on your motorcycle. There are fewer and fewer of these bikes out on the streets and fewer still ready to ride as is with good compression. Kick start or push start on first try! This is a tagged NC antique motorcycle bike, fully registered and insured ($12.00 per month) with clear NC title in MY name. I have obviously modified and customized to a cafe/brat style that I enjoy. This is not the style that everyone enjoys, I will include original bars, fenders, mirrors, sprockets, exhaust/air system (including air box, baffle, carb jets) to return bike to a more original look and ride. This is a 36 year old bike and does not require an inspection. It is ready to customize more or shape to your own style with an untouched or cut frame and as solid a foundation with new parts that you will find. I have probably kept 90% of receipts mostly from Dime City for new parts all completed in the last 3 months. These Honda 400 twins are so easily maintained and rideable you forget youre on a 36 year old motorcycle. $5,000.00

1978 HONDA HAWK HONDAMATIC CB400A Amazing condition describes this automatic vintage motorcycle. The engine is strong with an incredible 2,930 miles and almost no rust, a few paint chips, very original and well preserved. The transmission is a two speed automatic with a torque converter. A definite head turner and is distinctive, rare and collectible. Call Charlie for more information.

1978 Honda Hawk CB400A Hondamatic - Color: Orange - 17,400 miles - 2-speed automatic transmission with torque converter - No clutch (it has a lever there, but it is a parking brake) - New battery - New sprockets and chain - Comes with the Clymer repair manual - New headlamp (2015) - Lights/electrical all work (w/ the exception of the High gear indicator light. There is a bulb burned out in there and I never bothered to look into it...) Per the gentleman from whom I purchased the bike, this has been done back in 2014: - Carbs rebuilt - New fork seals - Gear selector switch - Horn - Front brakes - New petcock valve After a lot of thought, I have decided it's time to sell the Hawk. I purchased this bike three years ago and have used it as a commuter to make the 7 mile journey back and forth to work (weather permitting...). I bought the bike at a little over 9,000 miles from a gentleman in St. Paul. It needs nothing - ready to ride! So a note about the Hondamatic automatic transmission on these things... I was unfamiliar with them when I first saw one. Basically, it has three gear positions - Neutral, Low gear, and High gear. The bike has to be in neutral to start it up (furthest down position on the gear selector). Once you are ready to ride you move the gear selector to the next position up - Low gear. Once in gear it will creep forward ever so slowly like an automatic car would. Then you just ride that gear like a scooter up until 40 mph or so. Then you let off the gas, move the gear selector up another notch and you are in High gear. That will bring you at least up to 85 mph (highest I've had it anyway...). If you want you can just start out in High gear, it is just has a bit less power at the low end. Anyway, let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!

Selling a 1978 750A Hondamatic with clean title – it’s a perfect restore bike – it only has 7849 original miles. I picked up the bike last winter but have been unable to spend the time to get it back on the road. Everything is here! The only thing needed would be a new front tire and some TLC. At this time bike does not run - however compression is good as is the spark. Since I got it the front master cylinder and brakes have been rebuilt and work great. Carbs were sent out to a Hondamatic Forum recommended carb expert and just came back about 3 weeks ago – they are still in the box. Purchased and still needing to be installed are a brand new battery and brand new dual exhaust. This bike also comes with a Vetter fairing, trunk and sidebags – all in great condition! I had intended to go back to a headlight setup so the fairing is off – trunk is still on and the conversion for the headlight is 90% complete. You can choose whichever setup you’d prefer with the parts you’ll get with this bike. The fairing set sells on EBay for between $400 – $700. The seat is in in great condition – no rips or tears. Even has the kickstart lever which is becoming very hard to obtain- if found sells for $100+. Do not contact me to part anything out as this is the auction to sell a complete bike for someone wanting to bring one back to life – all parts need to stay together. For the person who loves these old “matics” – this is your chance. If you’re not local you must make all shipping arrangements and I will do what’s needed at this end to work with you shipping company. Thanks for looking!

Bike is in great condition for its age with very low miles. I bought this from an older man who had it in storage for about 20 yrs. He had recently brought it out and got it ready for riding with a new battery and some minor adjustment, but realized his riding days were behind him. There are no dents in the tank and the chrome looks great. It is a Vintage bike so you know it may need some fine tuning, but it starts right up, idles well after a warm up, and runs smoothly. Electric start just makes a click sound, but it will kick start with 2 kicks. I have ridden it around my neighborhood several times with no issues. The tires may not really be road worthy and should be replaced. They hold air and may be the original, so they show signs of cracking. Comes with a clean green Oklahoma title and current tags. I also have the right side mirror, a full manual still in the plastic wrap, and an additional brake fluid reservoir that is like the original one.Deposit required immediately after purchase and shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Feel free to ask any questions and I will try my best to answer.Specs from a website:ENGINEEngine: Air cooled, parallel twin cylinder, SOHC, 3 valve per cylinderDisplacement: 395ccBore and Stroke: 70.5 x 50.6mmCompression Ratio: 9.3:1Fuel Delivery: Two 32mm Keihin CV carburetorsIgnition: CDIStarter: ElectricMax Power: 26.8 HP @ 8000 rpmMax Torque: 21.39 lb-ft @ 5000 rpmDRIVETRAINTransmission: 2-speed automatic with torque convertorFinal Drive: ChainCHASSIS / SUSPENSION / BRAKESFront Suspension: Telescopic forksRear Suspension: Dual EVO dampers with 5-way spring preload adjustment.Front Brakes: Single 282mm discRear Brakes: 153mm DrumFront Tire: 3.60-S19Rear Tire: 4.10-S18DIMENSIONWet-Weight: 177 kg (389 lb)Fuel Capacity: 13 Litres (3.4 Gal)

1978 Hondamatic CB400 Cafe Racer. Bike is in good condition with one of a kind paint job. Great motorcycle for someone just learning to ride. Hondamatic has 2 gears and no clutch, just get on and go. Everything on the bike is original except for the paint job. Runs great!
