1977 Yamaha Rd 400 Motorcycles for sale
1-15 of 20
It has the daytona package, pretty good shape mechanical and body, needs gear shift return spring rehooked, the shifter is limp and the spring is under the gear case, 20 minute job to fix, i am not mechanically inclined and i had enough of paying way too much in shop rates, engine runs real good, starts first kick, wiring harness was replaced 2 seasons ago, all lights and switches work, only oil leak is if you put too much 2 stroke oil in the reservoir, very solid engine for its age, gas floods engine if left on for more than half hour without running, rims are 7 star powder blue, factory stock rims are spoked, i have had it doing 100 miles an hour, no speed wobble at all, will go faster if you can handle the extreme rush, small dent in left side of tank from handle bars, bike being parked in dirt yard and the rain softened the ground that made the bike fall, a couple small chips in paint otherwise paint is close to perfect, rims are custom painted powder coated, no blemishes at all in them, not factory colours or badging, missing right side body panel that covers fuse panel, sad to part with it but due to health reasons i cannot ride for a long time and i do not want to see it rott away

Nice classic 1977 bike, runs well, pure, light bike + FAST! 13000 miles Clean title NEW: top end,clutch,tires,reeds,tune-up, battery 2-stroke air cooled 400cc SpecII chambers exhaust pipes- little loud K&N 2 into1 pod Comfortable "Rear Sets" Drilled rotors Bike needs some love that I haven't found the time to give it so willing to send it to the right home. Nice bike to ride- not a concours restoration show bike. Paint looks to be non original, with '78 gauge cluster that shows 9950 miles with 13000 on title. Rear brakes don't work and needs fork seals. Bike is 38 years old so of course it shows some age! Currently doesn't have the chrome front fender and original turn signals installed but I have them (pictures show it both ways). Please e-mail any questions and pay within 48 hours of winning the auction. Contact me before bidding or buying if you have 5 feedbacks or less! Shipping is buyers responsibility, uShip has worked well for me on vehicles or local pick up available. I can deliver in a truck within 300 miles for a reasonable fee on my terms. Thx!

Up for sale is this beautifully restored and customized 1977 Yamaha RD400. This puppy was rebuilt from the ground up by Rusty Bolt Garage in Santa Fe, NM. A quick run through of the building process was upgrading the suspension, front and rear, an engine rebuild to stock specs, reworking the carbs and intake system, relocating the oil tank and wiring underneath the one of a kind fiberglass seat and tail section, powder coating the frame, swingarm, and other bits, new expansion chambers, all new controls and gauges, cross drilled rotors, new brake calipers and master cylinders fed by stainless steel lines. For a more detailed list of the build and additional photos please visit our blog here. Since this bike was built to ride, it is street legal thanks to the LED turn signals, brake light, taillight, and headlight. The bike has been test ridden about 30 miles since completion. She starts on the first or second kick every time and is a joy to ride. You wont see another one quite like this. That being said, this baby would be just as happy sitting in your collection as it would be screaming down the streets. Please find the video of start up and the bike running here. You also get two options as shown in the photos: the modern fairing/headlight combo and low rise bars or a round headlight and adjustable clubman bars if you would like a more traditional 'cafe racer' style . Let us know after the auction closes which you prefer and we will make the necessary changes prior to shipping. She has been featured on many websites since completion including the very popular Pipeburn.com, and the Yamaha Motors USA page. This is your chance to own a one of a kind vintage motorcycle. **Some extras for the buyer include an extra set of keys, an extra set of spark plugs, some different jet sizes, an extra set of exhaust gaskets, a replacement bulb for the front turn signals (if you go with the headlight/fairing combo), the manual for the Koso gauge, decals, a set of brake pads with anti chatter shims, and a set of anti vibration bar end weights.** ***Shipping and Payment-It is the responsibility of the buyer to arrange shipping. I am happy to help by giving you some names of the companies I like to use and would suggest that you use only enclosed transport. Payment in full will be due within 14 days of 'buy it now' or accepting your offer. Payment can be made by check, money order, cashiers check, or credit card. A credit card processing fee of %2 will apply if you want to go that way. After payment is received and cleared we will ship out the signed title, bill of sale, and the box of extras. Now, Imagine the difference of a RD425!

1977 Yamaha RD400. Freshly rebuilt engine. New HVC Street Fighter Seat. Chrome DG Expansion chambers. New HVC Radial Heads. New HVC Y-Boot Uni Air Filter. New Battery. Carburetors overhauled. Ready to ride!
This was a stripped to the frame custom rebuild. The frame and wheels were powder coated and the tank and side covers a 175 dollar paint job. Every bearing including the steering head are now new caged roller bearings. The chain and sprockets are new 520 units. The forks are a 850 dollar rebuild by HVC cycle. New tubes, springs and ceramic coated lowers. New performance rear shocks. New DG expansion chambers. Rebuilt carbs with new fiber reeds and a K&N intake system. It is jetted a little on the rich side for better cooling. Bored .030 over with new Weisco pistons, rings, and wrist pins. The piston crowns were ceramic coated to reduce heat in the pistons. Both fenders, taillight bracket, grab bar re chromed. Engine cases powder coated. All cables and most rubber parts are new. The seat was rebuilt by Sargent's. All lighting is new and everything works including the instrument lights. Speedometer and Tach both work. It has a custom boxed aluminum swing arm as found on a racing bike. The clutch pack is new EBC with new springs. It is a little stiffer than stock. I have receipts to give buyer that total $6559. I paid 1200 for the bike. I have lost the receipt for the swing arm and the powder coating The swing arm was 600 dollars and the powder coating was at least 400 dollars. The brake lines are stainless, the master cyl on the front is new, rebuilt with a kit on the rear and new EBC pads. Do not bother to get in touch if you think that you will get me off of that price very much. I am a licensed FAA aircraft mechanic so this wasn't a shade tree job. In the early 70's I pitted for a guy racing AMA flat track and we ran a two stroke and 4 stroke bikes. This the bike that always wanted to build for me and retirement made it happen. I have put way less than 500 miles on it because I am now 72 and getting on and off is really unstable for me and I don't want to drop it on me or the ground. I have had a bike from 1965 to now and selling this one was never the plan. You can take a test ride if I have 7500 dollars in my hand and consider it sold if you damage it in any way. Call me at 478 247 3705 between 9AM and 9PM only. If you get voice mail I will return your call as long as it came in between 9-9. No salesmen or re sellers please.
