2016 Husqvarna FC 250, 2016 Husqvarna® FC 250 RAZOR-SHARP AGILITY A completely new 250cc DOHC engine has been designed to perfectly match the new generation chassis. All internal components have been revised and repackaged in order to reposition the engine within the new chromoly steel frame, shifting the mass closer to the centre of gravity of the motorcycle. In combination with the shorter and lighter carbon fibre rear subframe, revised 4CS fork, new shock, new rear link and shorter exhaust, the new FC 250 has enormously improved handling, manoeuvrability and performance compared to the previous generation. Features May Include: NEW FRAME The engineers in Research and Development have designed a completely new chromium molibdenum steel frame that redefines every structural aspect in order to improve handling, ergonomics and packaging. The torsional rigidity and longitudinal stiffness have been completely rethought. The 6mm wider and 2mm lower steel tubes offer 20% more torsional rigidity and 30% less longitudinal stiffness compared to the previous generation frame design. These characteristics, matched to the new engine stays, improve handling precision while at the same time increasing bump-absorption and feeling. NEW SUSPENSION WP s 4CS fork has a revised setup to match the new chassis characteristics of the MY16 generation motocross. As with all 4CS forks by WP, the clicker settings can be easily and quickly adjusted via the dials on the top of the fork tubes. The red dial on the right alters rebound damping, while the white dial on the left is for compression damping. A new, shorter and lighter shock by WP features a larger gas chamber designed to maintain consistent performance during use. New internal components, such as the piston and shock shaft increase setup options. A new clevis design contributes to shortening the overall length by 12 mm, while the stroke is reduced by 3 mm. The shock is completely adjustable for high and low speed compression damping as well as rebound. The rear link has been completely redesigned to match the new rear shock. 148.2 mm pull rods replace the previous link s 145 mm items and, combined with the redesigned bell crank, maintains a similar progressive rate as MY15. Rear wheel travel is now 300 mm and, thanks to the uprated rear suspension behaviour, softer springs can be used. NEW CRANKCASES The new FC 250 features a completely redesigned engine with mass-centralisation and weight reduction as the main goals. All the major components have been repositioned; the crankshaft has been raised by 6 mm while the clutch shaft is 11.1 mm further back and 26.9 mm higher up. These modifications required a complete redesign of the crankcases which are now significantly more compact and lighter. Every aspect is designed to offer exceptional performance in conjunction with rider comfort and ergonomics making the FC 450 equally appealing to amateur and professional riders alike. Traction control, map select and WP AER 48 forks are just a few of the standard features which ensure the highest levels of performance and premium quality. Features may include: New map switch The FC 450 features a new handlebar map switch. Optimised for easy operation, the new map switch now selects between two engine maps, operates launch control and activates a new traction control feature. Traction control works by analysing throttle input from the rider and the rate at which the RPM increases. If the RPM increases too quickly, the EMS will register a loss of grip and reduce the amount of power to the rear wheel ensuring maximum traction. Engine management system The Keihin EMS is specifically designed to be smaller, lighter and faster at processing data. It integrates launch control for perfect starts, selectable engine maps as well as traction control. Additionally, via a gear sensor, the EMS selects a power delivery tailored for each gear. 44 mm throttle body The FC 450 features a 44 mm Keihin throttle body. The injector is positioned to ensure the most efficient flow of fuel into the combustion chamber while, in an effort to ensure optimal throttle response, the throttle cable is mounted directly without a throttle linkage providing more immediate throttle response and feeling Electric start and Li-Ion battery Along with the benefit of easy starting, the standard electric starting system is combined with a compact Li-Ion battery which is 1 kg lighter than a conventional battery. Crankshaft The inertia produced by the crankshaft has been carefully calculated to deliver optimal traction and ride-ability from the powerful 450cc plant. The FC 450 has astonishing force from the SOHC engine, incredible handling from the lightweight, cutting-edge chassis, and embodies the core values of Husqvarna. The standard electric start and handlebar-mounted map switch make the FC 450 one of the most advanced Motocross bikes on the market. Features May Include: ENGINE The compact SOHC design delivers exceptional power and torque over an extremely wide rev range. The accessible, class-leading performance of the FC 450 engine allows riders to confidently rocket of the corners, power down the straights and clear any jump. The single overhead cam in the cylinder head actuates four lightweight titanium valves, only 32 grams each, via lightweight and rigid rocker arms (DLC coated on the intake). The diameter of the intake valves is 38mm, while on the exhaust side it is 33mm. The broad power band of the FC 450 stretches to 11,500 rpm, peaking at 60 hp while maintaining exceptional torque low in the rev range. ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The electronic fuel injection and 44mm throttle body of the Keihin Engine Management System on the 4-stroke models, combine to offer amazing power delivery and efficiency at all engine speeds. The injector was positioned on the bottom of the inlet tract for optimal air-fuel mixture, resulting in crisp throttle response and class-leading power. CRANKSHAFT, CONROD AND PISTON The FC 450 features an industry-leading Pankl produced crankshaft and conrod in order to ensure that the high power output and torque of the 450cc engine are combined with durability and long service intervals (100 hours before changing con rod, con rod bearing and crank pin). To achieve this goal, the lightweight crankshaft has a pressure lubricated plain big end bearing, and two force-fitted shells that run directly on the crank pin. The König bridge-box-type piston weighs 330g and has a bore of 95mm, it was developed to reduce engine vibration and optimise strength. The compression ratio is 12.6:1 for an amazing peak output of 60 hp. SWINGARM The single component construction of the aluminium swingarm eliminates welding, providing more reliability, stability and safety, as well as superior quality and consistent behaviour over time compared to other construction processes. All the packaging benefits of the new DOHC engine are matched to the most advanced electronics. Standard launch control, switchable engine maps and a faster, more powerful engine management system, guarantee that all the 58 horsepower is put to the ground in total control. Features May Include: NEW CRANKSHAFT A new stiffer crankshaft is at the heart of the high power output, high-revving FC 350 engine. The plain big end bearing and two force-fitted bearing shells ensure maximum reliability and durability, guaranteeing long service intervals of 100 hours. NEW ENGINE The repositioning of the crankshaft and clutch shaft, together with the complete redesign of all the internal components as well as the crankcases, results in a 20 mm shorter engine.
