The bike is triple matching vin (Frame, Title, and Engine) 1964 /2. The R50 is well known as one of the smoothest and most reliable vintage motorcycles. Purchased from a long time East Coast collector who has owned the bike since new in 1964. This bike has only had two owners, the original owner and myself. I purchased it several years ago out of a probate sale in Connecticut. The bike arrived completely restored but had not been ridden in about 15yrs. Following delivery to San Francisco was sent in for maintenance from a shop that specializes in /2. Starts easily usually with one kick even with cold starts. Once started will quickly idle smoothly. Runs wonderfully silent. Its an incredible elegant machine. The brake shoes (front and back) serviced. Re-torqued all nuts and bolts on the bike. The wiring and lights are all functional. The valves have been gapped to spec. Ignition and timing have been service. New spark plugs. Cleaned/Re-built both carburetors with new gaskets. Serviced horn. New fuel lines Oil was changed. (Engine, transmission, driveshaft, and final drive). All the cables are new. There is zero oxidation or rust on the bike. The rims are the much sought after aluminum. They are stunningly shinny. There are beautifully bits or chrome around the bike including the triple-tree for the forks. The black power-coated paint on the fenders and gas tank is in fantastic condition and pin-striping will make any collector smile. All the locks and original keys work perfectly. The tires are Avon and have about 500 miles on them. The tires are much smoother to ride around turns verses the period 'Flat-walled' tires that come on Vintage bikes. The Avon’s seem to make the bike float around turns. This is the Euro model and comes with the Earles Forks front end instead of the US standard telescoping forks. Looks so much cooler and more collectable. Of course comes with the original Euro bars with headlight mirrors.. Thank You and God Bless America

This motorcycle was always maintained, never left to sit for long periods. Received gentle use by a loving owner. Last week, we gave this motorcycle a complete service and safety inspection, all systems are functioning properly with the exception of the kickstart lever which sometimes sticks, as you can see in the video of it running. This sweet R50/5 wears its age well and has been thoroughly tuned from top to bottom by an expert Airhead mechanic. It has a variety of great original features, new components, and recent service upgrades including: new fluids and filters; rebuilt Bing carbs with ticklers; rebored cylinders with larger 600cc pistons; new valves, springs, and guides; rebuilt front forks with new fork boots; new seals including rear main, transmission output, and more; new swingarm bearings and seals; extensive bead-blasting and cosmetic cleanup; electrical and starter system cleanup; new Bridgestone Spitfire 11 tires; new period-correct EMGO mufflers; new Odyssey battery; large fuel tank; original side panels; original bench seat with chrome grab rail; rear rack and side-case racks; chrome engine crash guards; chrome mirrors; low Euro handlebar; sidestand and center stand; tire pump and toolbox. This matching numbers 1960 BMW R50 is likely a final year model based on its identification number. BMW reportedly produced 13,510 R50's between 1955 - 1960 before beginning production of the R50/2. This bike looks very nice with tank, fenders, headlamp bucket and shock covers repainted at some point in it's history. The rear fender shows some areas that have been touched up and it looks like it used to have a fender rack or pillion seat at one point. There are no dents. The frame appears to be wearing original paint in mostly good condition for its age. Some cracking and chipping is evident, but does not detract from the bike's character. We have completed a health check report and cleaned it.
