Based on our original Thunderbird, the Storm keeps the pure Triumph twinned headlights but adds a low, blacked out look that's mean and minimalist for massive street presence backed up by huge torque and confident handling. We squeezed 102cc more from the muscle-bound parallel twin engine so that it packs an even bigger punch. Still laid-back but underpinned by serious power and the best handling in the class. This is a cruiser with a dark side. Features May Include: Performance We took the 1597cc parallel twin from the Thunderbird and boosted its capacity to 1699cc with 3.3mm bigger pistons in huge, 107.1mm bores. So the Thunderbird Storm does have a classic-looking engine that packs a mighty punch, but that power is delivered smoothly thanks to twin balance shafts. Configuration Despite the air-cooled appearance, the Thunderbird Storm engine is liquid-cooled. We placed its radiator unobtrusively between the frame downtubes and the fat, twin exhaust headers. And there's plenty more 21st century technology tucked away too, like our highly accurate sequential fuel injection system with its progressive throttle linkage so you get power predictably and smoothly. Blacked Out The Thunderbird Storm has a big black engine with upright cylinders and machined cooling fin edges to help define its imposing shape. Many other parts of the Thunderbird Storm are black. THIS BIKE is for anyone who loves the look of a classic Triumph model from the 1960's, with the performance of a more modern motorcycle. If you are in the Houston area, I can arrange a meet to check this bike out yourself. 3 cylinders, six speeds, 885 ccs, 82 hp, Keihin carburetors, good-looking after-market pipes. --- + --- IT IS A NAKED BIKE - when you roll the throttle, hang on, because nothing is going to be between you and the wind. I have been up to 127 mph with this baby before I felt like I was going to turn into a parachute. If you enjoy a bike with a serious sound to it, this may be the bike for you. This thing roars. I never use the horn because I have never, ever needed to use it to let cars know that I am near them. --- + --- MECHANICALLY AND ELECTRICALLY, I have taken good care of the bike, doing half the maintenance myself and half at professional shops. In anticipation of making it available, in July of 2015 I treated it to a complete professional workover at the legendary Iron Mike's shop in Bacliff, TX (worth the ride), including the following services: full carburetor overhaul, gas tank flush and de-rust, fuel filter and petcock replacement, new tires (Pirelli Diablo Rosso II Black), full inspection and fluid change, including chain inspection. --- + --- I LOVE THIS BIKE, and I can't believe I am selling it. I bought this bike in 2001, and I put about 12000 of my own miles on it for work riding and fun. From 2002 to 2005 I rode it only for fun, but since 2005 it waited in my garage while I moved on to other interests. Something always kept me from selling it, but now that I want a machine shop in my limited workspace, it's time for my baby to have a new owner. Today, the bike has 27166 miles on it (but it might get a few more while I force myself to say goodbye). The title is clear, it is fully registered and state inspected as of August 2015, and is running in great condition. --- + --- THE COSMETICS are in good/great condition, with only a couple of minor exceptions: 1) I dropped the bike once at about 10 mph, and the gas tank has a minor ding on the right side from where the turn signal dented it. 2) When I used to race this bike in 2001, I was able to lean over so far that the aluminum pegs have a nice "machined" angle at the tips. I consider this evidence that you can have a lot of fun on this bike. --- + --- REGARDLESS OF THE LIMITED RUN, I have never had a problem getting parts for this bike, so you get the best of both worlds - cafe-racer nostalgia and modern maintainability. If you are new to riding, know that this was my first bike, too, and I loved it. If you are a veteran rider, you know that this bike is one set of handlebars away from being the cafe racer of your dreams. Looking forward to anyone who is interested.
