1982 Yamaha XZ550 Vision, The XZ550 was the first Yamaha model to feature automotive-style downdraft carburetors with the air cleaner box mounted atop the carburetors, as opposed to most motorcycles' sidedraft carburetors with their side-mounted air cleaners.The XZ550 has a water-cooled engine.Here are some notes that I found about it,--The Yamaha Vision was originally conceived in the late 1970s when motorcycling was at its peak, and spent three years in development, being overseen by a small group of designers and enthusiasts rather than "committee think". Several high profile external design houses contributed to the design of the XZ550 including GK Design Associates for design, and reputedly Cosworth for the engine and Porsche for the final drive. The initial models were designed to be a performance bike and GK's goal was "to make it into the most advanced super sport bike in terms of both styling and riding performance" The XZ550 succeeded on both fronts, its comfort on long rides and veritable torque-monster engine matched by its distinctive deep V-Twin exhaust beat and neck-snapping performance. For Sale, 1982 Yamaha XZ550 Vision. Yamaha's first production sport bike. A collaboration of Yamaha, Cosworth, Porsche, and GK Design Studios. 64 horsepower, 462lbs. Light, nimble and powerful. A great canyon carver or comfortable commuter. Just completed mechanical restoration. I decided not to do a full blow apart, rebuild and restore on this one to keep the price down and make it available to the budget minded or entry level motorcycle enthusiast. The new owner can polish it, detail it, cafe it, customize it, or just ride it as is. Super low miles, new rear tire, rebuilt carburetors, all electricals (starting, charging, lights, signals, horn) work as they should, fully serviced and ready to ride. It is out of the DMV system so registration should be around $100. I have an appointment at the DMV on June 12 and you can buy it fully licensed and registered after then for $1,150 , but if you want to register it yourself, you can Buy It Now for $900 .
