1981 Honda GL500, This bike is SOLD AS IS...Has had a full cosmetic restoration. Tins off and motor out of the frame, for frame to be painted also. Carbs have been rebuilt, new fork seals installed, all fluids are fresh, and brake system has been rebuilt. All work was done by a mechanic with 40 yrs experience. Runs incredibly well. 4k miles.

This vintage classic cruiser is in very good condition with only 21,570 miles. It is an Interstate (GL500I) model, and rides smooth and handles great. Everything works as it should. I have a clear and clean title.Features: Shaft drive, removable luggage with locks on all, locking trunk with back rest, three configurations for rear seat (i.e., trunk with back rest for driver, passenger seat with back rest, passenger seat with no back rest), throttle lock for cruise control. Mechanical: Well maintained, excellent condition, new battery and road ready. No leaks, drips, etc. Rear tire about 4K miles, front about 1200 miles. Mufflers and chrome are good. In addition to normal maintenance the following have been replaced: head bearing (steering), water pump seal, rear brake shoes and front brake pads, front fork seals, final drive (replace with used unit due to leaking seal). Body: There are some minor marks from storage and normal use. The side luggage bags were repainted by previous owner and are not a perfect color match but they are close. Inside gas tank is clean. No rips in any of the seats. One cowl has one tab that was rebuilt, all remaining tabs are original and in good shape. Windshield is in good shape. Includes: Original owner’s manual and tool kit, Honda shop manual, Clymer manual, maintenance record, an extra passenger seat, some extra parts, cover, and a rain gear suit. As far as I know I am the third owner. The bike has been in a garage since I bought in September, 2000. Reason for selling: my kids bought me a GoldWing!While I have described the bike to the best of my abilities, I am not a professional mechanic. The bike is being sold “as is”. This bike is a 1982 GL500i Interstate SilverWing model with 21,700 miles. It has always been stored inside year around. Water cooled, shaft driven and comes with bags, trunk, back seat and backrest for the passenger. It runs great, and is in great shape considering the age. It has the normal dings, and only damage is a couple of scuffs on the right hand side of the fairing and a crack inside at the bottom. Crack has been there for years and never gotten worse. The tach stopped working a couple of years ago and I never got around to fixing it. The cable doesn’t turn, so I believe it is the cable drive gear. I have owned this bike for almost 15 years and had no major problems. I never rode it very much each year, and even lees the last couple, so it is time to sell. It was repainted before I purchased the bike. Paint job is not professional and stuck well for all these years. Battery is a couple of years old. Tires are in the 50% range. Great older bike ready to ride, or would be easy to restore.

1982 HONDA GL 500 For sale is a brilliant condition 82 HONDA GL 500. The motorcycle runs like a charm, everything about it works. It has about ~ 9000 miles, I bought it at 2500 miles, I had a full tune up on done . All fluids were replaced, MOTOR OIL, COOLANT, FINAL DRIVE OIL, and the FORK OIL. It has a new REG REC, BATTERY, the CARBS were SYNCED and REBUILT, HOSES have been replaced. The rear and front TIRES are fairly new, and wheels are in excellent condition. The rear break shoes were replaced in Sept. The body of the bike is in good shape, minor dings, and scraps. The tank does have a minor dent on the right side, that can be pulled back, an others that may need more attention. The bike did slip from under me, but only at about 10-15 mph. The bike's motor and trany is still solid. (REASON FOR PRICE REDUCTION) The original color is grey, I PLASTI-DIP a red, you can easily peel the red off. The under belly of thank is protected in black PLASTI DIP. I have all original decals and handle bars to go with the bike. Nice old GL500 Interstate. Runs great! New windscreen, foam grips, Kenda tires 3 months ago. Both seats professionally recovered at a upholstery shop a couple of months ago.NOTE: Speedometer broke at 36k miles (as can be seen on my you tube channel ) Speedometer & tachometer replaced with a Trail Tech digital inst. cluster. Having issues getting the tachometer to read RPM accurately. Has been a project bike, but life changes negate selling the bike. I have $1700 already in this bike. No longer have the time to complete the restoration. Mechanically solid as a rock! Onlymechanical need at this point is right front fork seal leaks a little bit. Maybe replace exhaustor paint the exhaust with VHT paint. The MAIN thing this 'ol gal need is a decent proper paint job. Was next on my list to do but as mentioned a major life change has left me with ZERO time to finish the restoration. Top box & rack have been removed but I can reinstall them if you purchase the bike and want them installed. I liked the looks of it much better with it off of the bike. Clean clear title in hand! Does NOT have a radio installed. GPS unit shown in pictures notincluded in sales price! Can purchase GPS unit with the bike for $50 (firm!) extra. NADA book value is $1745. Selling for $1400 FIRM! This IS a great price! You will be very hard pressed to find a nicer bike and/or more bike for the money!
