Nice Original 1978 Yamaha XS 400 B - 17K - has the deluxe package of mag wheels and electric start- bike has a clean Idaho title- and Had a full tune-up w/ carb clean 2 years ago.. its always started and run smooth and shift smooth w. no smoke or engine noise. All electrical worked. Its been stored w/out gas. its currently a little dusty from storage and not running... needs a new batterry - the brakes bled and some fresh gas/// see pix of inside of gas tank! the only thing its missing is the tach- and the mufflers are starting to rust. The bikes perfect for street tracker (which i was going to turn it into "or cafe racer.) its a minor project thats clean original and will run and drive w a few hours work. 1978 Yamaha YZ400E in excellent condition. I got this bike ready for vintage MX with a complete teardown and rebuild. Bike starts right up & runs great. Mechanically this bike is ready to go, just needs some cosmetics. I have a new OEM copy front fender for it that goes with the bike. I have the following new parts and have done the following service: - New clutch plates, clutch springs, & actuation ball - New clutch arm bearing - New clutch pressure plate bolts - New intake manifold - New throttle, clutch, & brake cables - New fork seals & fluid - New swingarm bearings - New clutch & brake levers - New front & rear wheel bearings - New JT 14T steel countershaft & JT 48T alloy rear sprockets - New chain - New chain sliders - New chain roller - New clutch & ignition cover gaskets - New countershaft, shifter, clutch arm, & kickstart seals - New shifter rubber - New Uni Air Filter cage - New No Toil air filter - New rim strips - New front & rear inner tubes - New Dunlop Geomax MX51 front tire - Near new Dunlop Geomax MX51 rear tire - New fork boots - New front brake cable guides - New fuel lines & filter - New breather tubes I have rebuilt both front & rear brake assemblies, greased & lubed all pivots and assemblies that require it. Installed a new EBC clutch kit & springs and replaced all seals so this motor doesn't leak at all. I put on a new intake manifold ($110 alone), and installed boyesen reeds too. Replaced the throttle tube with a near new good one, & everything works as it should. All it needs is cosmetics which are a new tank & side panel stickers, a new rear fender, and a new seat cover. I was going to use this bike as my personal vintage racer, but have decided to go Euro and restore my old Maico & Montesa. I've probably forgot some of the other things I've done but it's all gone through. I can help with delivery within 50 miles for a fee. If you need it shipped futher than this, you will need to make the arrangements. Call me at 562-650-8081 to come see it or for questions. I have a clean title for it, but registration isn't current. Price is very fair for what's been done, and it is OBO because it needs to go as I really don't want to store it outdoors during the winter. Yamaha xs400, 1978--This is a beautiful bike. I rode her two ro 3 times a week last year from March until November, winterized her and stored her in the garage with a battery tender. I can't get her to kickstart. (I am going to get a new bike that I can ride across country so I need to make room in my garage.) She needs a little TLC from someone who likes to tinker. I don' think it would be alot of work just a little elbow grease. She has a little over 77, 000 miles and a clean title.

1978 XS 400 in great shape! Kickstart only. Can be challenging to start, once she starts she runs like a gem and will easily start again. Harriet is a beautiful bike. She has an old school kick start and can be fickle if she hasn't been ridden regularly. She has a little more than 76,000 miles on her but she has been an indoor bike all of her life so her body is in great shape. I have ridden her back and forth to work on a weekly basis for nearly a year. In the early summer of 2016 I had her carburetor cleaned and refurbished, and replaced her spark plugs, float valves, bowl gaskets, and T/S damper. She also has a new battery and her wheels are in great shape. She also has her original Yamaha tool kit. She has 6 gears and weighs roughly 350 lbs. She is an awesome commuter bike and would be happy to find a home with someone who loves to tinker. She is vintage and in lovely shape. Trust me, kick starting her will make anyone feel like a bad-***!
