We have a 6 year history with this bike. We would be happy to answer any questions you have about this BMW motorcycle; please call us at 614.837.1160. We also cleaned and serviced the instrument cluster. All in all this bike is in much better cosmetic and mechanical condition than would normally be expected of a bike of this age and mileage. If you would like to take this bike out on a test ride please plan it for a dry day and call 24 hours ahead to schedule. Over the years the new owner installed a master cylinder kit and installed new front brake pads in the winter of 2007-08 a new sealed battery in April 2008 and he installed new fork seals and resealed the motor top end in April of 2009. the seat is missing the original lower edge trim but looks good with stainless fasteners along the edge. 1977 BMW R100/7 SOLD...... At the time of the trade in the previous owner reported oil consumption on his last trip of only 1 pint in 2 000 miles. We bought it and fixed it up and gave it a 10K service in late 2006 with 67 219 miles on it. We installed a new battery a new crankcase breather valve new steering neck bearings and had the final drive splines welded up and re-cut and re-hardened then the drive was reassembled with new seals. This blows it up to maximum size (about 6 times window size) and you can use the scroll bars to move around your view point like your eye is 2 feet from the bike. There is 1 key for the ignition and the seat lock and a second one that only works the seat lock. the bike now has just under 93 000 miles; it starts easily and runs smooth and strong. At that time we resealed the fuel tank de-carboned the heads and lapped the valves cleaned the carbs disassembled and inspected the forks and installed a ground upgrade kit on it. the MAC mufflers are in good physical condition but the chrome shows the years and they have some staining on the top of the right one. Sometime during his ownership he also painted the tank battery covers and front fender. It has obviously been well cared for. It has many years of good service left in it ready to go! the black paint is solid and shinny without any nicks or dings. This is at the minimum of normal oil usage for an air cooled BMW! In September of 2011 we got the bike back on a trade in and now we have given it another 10K Service and disassembled and cleaned and inspected the front forks and replaced the internal bumpers. This was BMW? s ? back up? bike for the Battle of the Legends race held in Daytona in 1993 and was ridden in the later race by Walter Zeller. the paint is beautiful with only a few minor flaws some light scratches on the top of the tank. It is obvious that this bike has been maturely ridden and very well taken care of throughout its life. the owner has had this bike since 1977 when it had only 7 000 miles on it. We rebuilt the del? We also cleaned and Detailed the bike to the 1st level (looks GREAT from 6 feet). We repaired the broken Speedometer needle serviced the speedo & Tach. It has ? S? handlebars and bar-end mirrors. We resealed the top end both cylinders. We installed a good tested Used diode board and Used rotor to get the bike charging properly. the inside of the fuel tank has been relined with silver POR15 fuel tank liner; the job was performed perfectly. We also installed a Rebuilt bench seat with 1 piece grab-rail 1972-73 style. We also repaired the centerstand & sidestand pivots. Since we resealed the top-end a year ago we have seen no oil leaks. We happily accepted this beautiful bike into our inventory. 1975 BMW R90/6 SOLD... Bored cylinders and honed to fit new Kolbenschmidt pistons and new rings. Transmission: Tore down and inspected all gears and shafts. Reassembled with all new bearings springs and seals. New drive shaft boot installed. Installed new lower rod bearings inspected pin bushings and found them at low end of tolerance. This blows it up to maximum size (about 6 times window size) and you can use the scroll bars to move around your view point like your eye is 2 feet from the bike. We picked out a very nice set of used original rear shocks disassembled inspected and cleaned them then polished the shock covers. Resealed entire motor. This bike is now the closest thing you could come to a brand new 1975 R90/6! So far we have test drove the bike 300 miles to break in the motor (seat the new rings) and give the whole bike a general shake-down cruse; we will continue as weather permits until we reach 500 miles. A ground upgrade kit was installed on the motor and new alternator brushes and new spark plug wires and original metal caps. Full Restoration. We took this 1975 BMW R90/6 completely apart and did a front to back mechanical and cosmetic restoration; everything was made like new! For those of you who want the details read on! Stripped the frame subframe swingarm centerstand and battery box; painted all and installed new steering neck bearings. Final drive was disassembled and inspected and found in very good condition; then we reassembled and resealed it. Installed and balanced new Metzeller tires with new tubes. Rebuilt front fork; disassemble clean & inspect reassemble with ALL new bumpers wiper rings seals crush washers and accordion for boots. New mirrors new footpeg rubbers new cables new rear and side red reflectors new battery new starter relay and much much more. Driveshaft was inspected as very good. Tank. Polished the rims and laced and trued with chrome spokes. Selected like new clutch pressure plate and pressure ring installed with new clutch friction disc. Installed new crankcase breather. New rubber kneepads and tank emblems were installed. New MAC replica headers were installed and a like new pair of reproduction mufflers. Inspected oil pump rotor clearance and resealed cover. Rebuilt front and rear wheels; bead blasted the hubs installed and shimmed new bearings and seals. Then we will perform a ? New Bike? 500 Mile Service consisting of oil and filter change retorque the heads and readjust the valves check the timing and re-sync the carbs and an ent-to-end check and adjust. the swingarm bearings were already like new so we left them and installed new seals. Motor: tore down to crank measured the main bearings and found them at low end of tolerance. After that is done the bike will be ready to give decades of trouble free riding to its lucky new owner! Starts easily runs well. Now that we have fixed the things that required special tools or special skills and knowledge somebody mechanically handy should easily be able to get this bike to dependable travel-worthy condition. We have made a very temporary patch on the mufflers with several layers of aluminum tape so we could test ride the bike. the clutch works well and the transmission shifts well. Because both tires were very old and cracked we mounted and balanced a newer set of used Metzeller tires while we had the wheels off the bike. Both original BMW Cigar shaped /5 mufflers are rotting out on the bottom. the rear of seat has tape patch; needs re-covered. Bike has a tool tray no tool kit. Some oil leaks from pushrod tube seals on left should be fixed before extended miles. We wanted to go ride this bike for days when it was finished. None of this was really NECESSARY as only an expert would know the difference but we felt that the historic significance of this bike warranted making it perfect. We are totally confident that the new owner will fall in love with this beautiful machine and give it a well appreciated and well cared for second life. We built a new LWB seat using all new parts on an original 1974 metal pan and is now the correct length. Tires are like new. the Dyna III ignition is a good upgrade; we? ll leave it but move the main unit out of site to the frame backbone. the bike comes with the original tool kit hand pump and Owner? s Manual. We did notice a few things that we wanted to address in an effort to make it PERFECT and as ORIGINAL as it came from the factory;. the bike had Incorrect hand grips and the centerstand tine was missing. the front disc was a 1975 on drilled disc; we planned to put an original 1974 disc back on it. New original round front footpeg rubbers and NEW NLA (No Longer Available from BMW) original round rear footpeg assemblies were sourced and installed. Only 627 Miles! 1974 R75/6. Braided Stainless front brake line (we decided to leave this instead of restoring it to rubber). the drilled front disc has been exchanged for the correct 1974 only non-drilled disc. the horn was functional but was not the correct one with black body and chrome disc in front. the FIRST off the line. It didn? t really NEED service but we wanted to know that we had addressed everything and that nothing was missed. We have now finished all the changes necessary to make this beautiful BMW just a bit more perfect and much closer to ? Original? as it came from the factory. the engine and frame numbers match. It is very close to what a new 1974 R75/6 would have been like when picked up from a Dealer; a truly wonderful machine to ride! While we were there we also cleaned and inspected the clutch parts and found those to be excellent also. To insure both cylinders running evenly we installed new rings on the pistons and gave both heads a full valve job with new valve guides so they would both be like new and run as a matched pair. Under 16 000 Miles. A new throttle tube and gear were installed. We opened it up and found the head had been damaged internally beyond easy repair so we found another low mileage cylinder and piston and another head. While the engine was apart we also inspected the crankshaft and bearings to insure there was no damage there. Then new Metzeller tires were installed and balanced on both wheels. They also installed a slightly shorter rear shock. We installed new seals and gaskets on the front cam chain cover and rear main seal and oil pump o? ring and reassembled the motor. Finally a complete BMW Factory recommend 10K Service was performed. New plug wires and caps were also installed. When we bought it it had an internally damaged cylinder and head from something being dropped into the cylinder. There is a Tool Tray under the seat but there is no BMW tool kit. We hand polished both rims and installed and serviced new front wheel bearings and seals (the rear wheel bolts directly to the final drive without any bearings). We also took off the 2 into 1 header and installed nice used OEM headers and new OEM replica /5 ? cigar tip? style mufflers. the Tank and front fender have been repainted and hand pinstripped as original. the previous owner had installed a 5 speed transmission instead of fixing the rumbling bearings on the stock 4 speed. There are shallow imperfections on both items not immediately noticeable until the light hits it just right. We chose to also leave those items like that. This blows it up to maximum size (about 6 times window size) and you can use the scroll bars to move around your view point like your eye is 2 feet from the bike. We resealed the left cylinder as the pushrod tube seals were leaking; the right is in good condition. While we were there we removed the clutch and cleaned up the friction disc and replaced the outer pressure plate with a resurfaced one. the clutch splines were also lubed at that point. the flaws: Before Powdercoating the previous owner failed to have the metal perfect on 2 items the headlight bucket and the right headlight mount. the previous owner recovered the seat with a new stock style cover with passenger grab strap and he painted the seat pan. We installed a new ignition switch and replaced the cracked circuit board with a good used one and straightened out the rewiring errors made by the previous owner. the Title is clear. It has had the frame subframe swingarm centerstand headlight mount ears headlight bucket and front turn signal mounts powdercoated in gloss black. We picked out a nice low mileage used 4 speed transmission opened it up and inspected and resealed it and reinstalled it in the bike. Deep Major Service (10K) + Cosmetic restoration. the Cosmetic restoration was started by one owner continued by the next owner and finally finished by us. We finished with an end-to-end 10K Service and a 1000 mile test ride to be sure everything was PERFECT (alright it was just so nice that we just wanted to ride it for a while!). the engine frame and neck badge numbers all match. New Tires were installed New Battery New original Continental braided cloth covered fuel lines 2 new BMW Mirrors New Grips New Footpeg Rubbers and other new small rubber pieces. There is a nice OE Tool Tray with a new rubber seal and an Original BMW Factory Tool Kit. We cleaned and re-jetted the carburetors back to stock. He also somehow got 1972-73 style headlight mounts with the large 80mm reflector and the later style license plate bracket (also with the large reflectors) when he had the Powdercoating done. Also there is a small ding on the chrome headlight ring. VERY clean very nice This beautiful 1975 R75/5 has very low miles! It has just had a cosmetic restoration and deep service. He chose to not re-use the stock aluminum trim or the stock 2 piece grab-rails; but we have corrected both issues. Additional cosmetic detail work was done to bring the bike up to an attractive whole. We also installed a new gasket to reseal the oil pan. We took over the project when the previous owner was stumped with properly replacing the electrical connections necessary after having the headlight bucket powdercoated and by the jetting / carburetor problems caused by dirty carburetors and the attempt to install a 2 into 1 header instead of replacing the exhaust system with a new original style system.
