The unrivalled performance of the lightweight 2-stroke engine makes it a true contender against the more complex 4-strokes. For MY 2016 the 250 SX features detail improvements and new colors and graphics, but basically retains the same chassis and engine specification as MY 2015. Features May Include: ENGINE The powerful KTM 250 SX engine unites an unbeatable power-to-weight ratio with outstanding performance and extremely easy handling. CYLINDER The cylinder of the 250 SX is fitted with a sophisticated TVC (Twin Valve Control) power valve, providing adjustable power characteristics, which can be changed within a few seconds thanks to two supplied springs offering optimal settings for different tracks and rider preference. The dominance with which this machine has won one world championship title after another is certainly unrivaled... Since Tony Cairoli s first win in the 2010 MX1 World Championship, his first year as a KTM factory rider on the 350 SX-F, the Red Bull athlete from Sicily has dominated the class with five consecutive world championships at the top tier of motocross aboard this nimble, but powerful bike including many, many race wins. The bike itself comprises of almost as much power as a 450, but with the agility of a 250 so the basic idea is easily summarized, and has been a concept with success from the start. Features May Include: ENGINE The new DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) engine of the 350 SX-F features a completely new construction in order to make it even more compact and powerful than before. Fitted with the latest electronic fuel injection system and electric starter, it has a very wide usable speed range, high performance and incredibly efficient rideability. The new design made the engine 20 mm shorter than previously, while reducing the weight by 1 kg to only 27.2 kg. Features May Include: Frame The modern frame design of the SX models, built from lightweight, high strength, chrome-molybdenum steel section tubes, combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with optimum torsional stiffness. A forged and milled cross-peice connects the two frame halves with the connecting rod of the linkage on the 2015 SX frame. Omission of the weld seams leads to very precise manufacturing tolerances and it saves another 60 grams of weight. Linkage / Shock Absorber The revamped damping system for MY 2015 features a new linkage with optimized geometry. The flatter progression with a higher initial rate ensures greater stability and lowers the rear end. In addition, the new design saves another 40 grams of weight. The fully adjustable WP 5018 shock absorber has been completely retuned to suit the new linkage. Fork The fully adjustable upside-down fork from WP Suspension has been perfectly tuned to the new rear wheel damping system and the new 22 mm front axle (formerly 26 mm) for MY 2015. The new axle provides a better feel for the front wheel and also saves a further 40 grams. The new fork stubs now feature an offset of 33 mm instead of 35 mm, which together with increased trail deliver greater ride stability. Furthermore, they accommodate newly developed, 50 gram lighter fork protectors. Triple Clamps High quality, CNC-machined triple clamps have long since been standard equipment at KTM. They ensure precise handling and provide a perceptible boost to the flexing characteristics and hence the responsiveness of the telescopic fork. The new O-ring carrier for the lower steering head bearing, a revised shaft tube and the new steering head bolt save another 40 grams. Wheels The wheels fitted for MY 2015 feature black coated, high-end Excel rims with lightweight, CNC-machined hubs and spokes with lightweight aluminium nipples, allowing highest levels of stability to be achieved, while keeping weight to a minimum. 2014 KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition, 2014 KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition KTM turned the model year concept a bit upside down a couple years ago, when they first introduced their Factory Edition models. That allowed them to bring their latest updates to each race season, by building enough models to satisfy the AMA's homologation rules. This time around we focused on chassis improvements, new suspension components, and once again, trimming weight. Since they first introduced the bike in 2012, they claim a total weight savings of five pounds, with nearly a pound-and-a-half of that coming this year.
