COOLING SYSTEM Like the big bikes, the 50 SX has a liquid cooling system which even cools the crankcase. ENGINE The modern, extremely compact, 2-stroke engine sets the standard in its class with great, manageable power. Thanks to the 3-shaft design, the crankshaft is close to the bike's center of gravity. BRAKES Front and rear disc brakes by Formula ensure the best deceleration. In order to optimize performance, the rear brake disc was enlarged for 2014. WHEELS Like the big KTM factory racers, the 50 SX has super lightweight, black anodized aluminum rims. A newly-designed rear wheel hub guarantees that even the longest jumps are easily absorbed. The OEM knobby Pirelli Scorpion tires grip superbly on any surface. WATER COOLING The KTM 50 SX's liquid-cooling system, with two large radiators and additional cooling for the crankcase, prevents engine overheating under the most extreme loads. WP/CHASSIS A top-quality upside down front fork by WP Suspension with 35mm tube diameter and 205mm of travel ensures outstanding directional stability. On the rear wheel, a WP monoshock linked directly to the swingarm also provides 185mm of suspension travel. ADJUSTABLE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION Developed by KTM, the centrifugal multi-disc automatic clutch provides manageable acceleration and makes riding the motorcycle easy. It can be adjusted to the special requirements of the track and the rider without special tools. SUSPENSION Both the rear shock absorber and the 35mm upside down fork from WP Suspension guarantee ultimate damping and responsiveness. The result is a long distance V-twin rocket that proudly roars past the top of the food chain, hungry for more. For miles. The faster, the better. A motorcycle that is equally happy hunting horizons, as it is chasing superbikes. And crushing them not only at cruising speeds. Welcome to the world of the 1290 Super Duke GT, where refinement, comfort, speed and ultimate performance rule. Features may include: WP SEMI-ACTIVE SUSPENSION The innovative WP semi-active suspension system introduces a new level of comfort and safety in motorcycle riding. The rider can select three spectrums of use: Comfort , Street and Sport , while the SCU (Suspension Control Unit) adapts the damping rates in real-time to the riding surface and rider, based on the information provided by a set of stroke sensors and accelerometers. It also reads the vehicle load, making the suspension suited to different weights. The rear wheel is fitted to an axle that is 50 mm in diameter and bolted in place with a 60 mm central wheel nut. A high-precision, eccentric adjuster is used for tensioning the chain. BRAKES More than adequate deceleration is ensured at the front wheel by the two radially mounted Brembo M50 four-piston Monoblock calipers, actuated by a radial brake pump, each gripping onto floating 320 mm discs. Features may include: ENGINE Based on the 1,301cc V-twin of the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R, aka The Beast , the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE T is clearly the Alpha in its segment.
