2014 KTM 350 SX-F, 2014 KTM 350 SX-F BENCHMARK In the three years since the revolutionary 350 SX-F has been introduced, this bike has proven that it is possible to win the MX1 World Championship even with reduced displacement. Since then, Tony Cairoli has clearly dominated the class with the 350 SX-F, and in 2013, the Italian once again bets on the ingenious combination of low-weight, playful agility and a high-revving engine. A unique recipe for success that benefits amateurs and pros alike. Features May Include: TRIPLE CLAMPS Top-quality, CNC-machined triple clamps have been something of a KTM trademark. Ensuring a precise handling, they perceptibly support the flex characteristics, and with it, the fork's action. SWINGARM Designed using the latest in calculation and simulation software, the design and wall thickness of the cast aluminum swingarm have been optimized for minimum weight at optimum stiffness and precisely defined flexibility provides perfect stability at minimum weight. For 2014, the engineers have revised the chain guide to increase reliability while lowering the weight. SUSPENSION/DAMPING The rear monoshock as well as the 48mm upside-down front fork by WP Suspension guarantee the best response and damping characteristics. In 2014, the fork has more reserves against bottoming out thanks to their optimized setting. Of course, compression and rebound damping can be adjusted to the track conditions and the rider's preferences with a twist of the wrist - the rear monoshock even has separate high and low speed adjustments. TRANSMISSION The 5-speed gear box has been adapted to the 350 SX-F's engine characterisitics and is distinguished by easy and precise shifting. CLUTCH The highly compact CSS (Coil Spring Steel) cltuch uses a wear-free steel basket and eight clutch plates which are extremely heat resistant due to their steel carrier discs. The Brembo hydraulic system with its new master cylinder provides easy and precise modulation. ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS) In combination with the revolutionary injector position as developed by KTM, the Keihin Engine Management System, with electronic fuel injection and 44mm throttle body provides the engine with a spontaneous response and maximum performance. For 2014, the wiring harness of the 350 SX-F has been further simplified and even higher quality wires and connectors are used. In order to protect them against pressure washers, many connectors are now enclosed in new rubber boots. With an optional map-select switch from the KTM PowerParts program, EMS continues to allow selecting different engine characteristics. In addition, the optional User-Setting Tool allows to readout engine data with a laptop and change the ignition and injection mappings with a few mouse clicks. CRANKSHAFT The 3
2016 KTM 350 SX-F, 2016 KTM 350 SX-F The Ultimate Combination With the arrival of the new generation 350 SX-F the success story can continue. The dominance with which this machine has won one world championship title after another is certainly unrivaled... Since Tony Cairoli s first win in the 2010 MX1 World Championship, his first year as a KTM factory rider on the 350 SX-F, the Red Bull athlete from Sicily has dominated the class with five consecutive world championships at the top tier of motocross aboard this nimble, but powerful bike including many, many race wins. The bike itself comprises of almost as much power as a 450, but with the agility of a 250 so the basic idea is easily summarized, and has been a concept with success from the start. Features May Include: ENGINE The new DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) engine of the 350 SX-F features a completely new construction in order to make it even more compact and powerful than before. Fitted with the latest electronic fuel injection system and electric starter, it has a very wide usable speed range, high performance and incredibly efficient rideability. The new design made the engine 20 mm shorter than previously, while reducing the weight by 1 kg to only 27.2 kg. CYLINDER AND PISTON In the redesigned and shorter cylinder, with a bore of 88 mm, works a weight reduced forged bridged box-type piston made by CP. Its new piston crown geometry is adapted to the new high-compression combustion chamber and stands out with its extra rigid structure, combined with a low weight. The compression ratio is at 14:1. Thanks to the low oscillating masses, the engine offers extremely lively characteristics. TRANSMISSION The new engine is fitted with an all-new and weight reduced, five-speed gearbox. It features the same gear ratio as the previous model, but has wider gear sprockets, featuring a special surface treatment on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears for improved reliability. One of the new and special features on the bike is an advanced NO-DIRT gear lever design, which prevents dirt from blocking the joint of the lever and guarantees a safe activation of the transmission. MONOSHOCK The new generation of monoshock made by WP Suspension has been developed for the new SX models in conjunction with the new frame and swingarm architecture, including the reworked linkage system and the new WP forks. The linkage system has also been reworked with a revised geometry and longer pull rods, which was tested last season in most of the KTM factory bikes. FORKS The KTM SX models are fitted with a revolutionary new and super-lightweight WP fork, a 48 mm USD air-sprung fork developed by WP Suspension in close collaboration with KTM. It is a split fork with separate functions for each fork leg. The damping functions are on the right side, whereas the air spr
2016 KTM 350 EXC-F, 2016 KTM 350 EXC-F BEST IN CLASS The 350 EXC-F is the ultimate machine when you want to ride your bike to the off-road trails. Thanks to its compact, powerful DOHC engine, low weight and perfectly tuned suspension, this machine masters each and every tough spot in off-road riding with ease. And thanks to its license plate, you can ride the bike right from your house and enjoy the street or the dirt. For 2016 the 350 EXC-F gets the same updates as the dirt-only XCF-W models for even more capability when the asphalt ends. 250 AGILITY WITH 450 POWER ENGINE: The 350cc 4-stroke engine with a state-of-the-art electronic fuel injection offers a very wide power band and is distinguished by a dynamic but easy to control power delivery. CYLINDER HEAD: The DOHC cylinder head contains four ultra-lightweight titanium valves (intake 36.3mm, exhaust 29.1mm), which allow extremely high engine speed levels of up to 12,000 rpm in combination with very small, DLC-coated followers that weigh only 8g. The camshaft timing is perfectly tuned for performance in an enduro-specific low-rev range. VALVE TRAIN: The crankshaft drives an intermediate shaft on the side which in turn drives the coolant pump and the two camshafts via the cam chain while at the same time acting as a counter balancer. A hydraulic chain tensioner ensures reliable chain tension to achieve highly precise valve timing. CRANKSHAFT: The 350 EXC-F has a heavier crankshaft in order to achieve a more even power delivery and better traction through greater rotating mass. The crankshaft employs a plain big end bearing, while two force-fitted bearing shells run directly on the crank pin. The necessary oil feed for this bearing is delivered by the engine's pressure lubrication. This design increases the engine's long-term durability, lengthening crankshaft service intervals - a customer benefit in terms of time, effort and cost. DDS CLUTCH: The one-piece basket of the DDS clutch (damped diaphragm steel) is machined from solid high-tensile steel in one solid part together with the primary drive gear. This process guarantees unbeatable reliability and, together with the thin steel linings, contributes to the narrow engine width due to a compact rivet-less design. The diaphragm spring makes it possible to implement an additional rubber damping system inside the clutch hub, ensuring reliability for the transmission and excellent traction. Finally, the hydraulic clutch mechanism by Brembo in conjunction with the diaphragm spring provides a very light clutch operation and controllable modulation. STARTER: The engine is equipped with a kickstarter as well as an electric starter as standard. Well protected behind the cylinder, the electric starter is connected to the freewheel on the ignition rotor via the starter drive in the ignition cover. GENERATOR: The 350 EXC-F engine is equipped with a 196 W AC generator with integrated starter freew
