Designed according to your desires, to be even more Monster Features May include: Testastretta 11° The Monster 821 is powered by the Testastretta 11° 821 cc engine, with air injection system. A secondary air system similar to the one used on the 1199 Panigale has been introduced in order to optimise operation and reduce combustion cycle variability, without affecting emissions. A controlled flow of clean air is injected into the exhaust pipe, enabling total oxidation of the hot exhaust gases, efficiently cutting hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide levels. Power and Torque Thanks to the specially designed air filter and exhaust system, the Testastretta 11° engine generates power comparable to that of a 3/4 cylinder engine. Even the most demanding "Monsteristi" and sports riders will be able to appreciate the punchy torque that is readily available at a wide range of speeds, already reaching more than 85% of its maximum torque at 5500 rpm. The Testastretta 11°'s character is enhanced by the choice of the final ratio set to develop maximum acceleration in each gear and maximum engine response with each turn of the throttle. Slipper Clutch The transmission features an oil bath clutch with "slipper" function and a lever that is very light to the touch. It is equipped with a gradual self-servo system that compresses the discs when the engine speed is reduced, allowing the load on the pressure plate springs to be reduced. This reduces the stress on the clutch lever, ensuring optimum conditions in city traffic when frequent gear changes are required, or on long trips. When the transmission force is reversed (overload), the same mechanism makes it possible to reduce the pressure on the clutch plates, enabling them to work in "slipper" mode, which reduces the destabilising effect on the rear end during aggressive downshifting and gives a feeling of greater fluidity when decelerating or downshifting in normal driving conditions. Built on an improved chassis integrating a monocoque frame, together with fully adjustable suspension. Poised between road and track, between pure performance, technology and effortless handling, the 959 Panigale sports a breathtaking design. The ideal adrenaline-booster in the form of a Ducati superbike. Architecture The engine has been designed as a structural element of the frame. As such, its architecture has been completely reviewed to ensure the best design in terms of structure, weight distribution and robustness. The cylinders, at a 90° angle to each other, are mounted on the crankcase to produce a 21° angle between the front cylinder and the horizontal plane. This allows the engine to sit forward, optimizing the distribution of weight between the front and rear ends and achieving the perfect position of the fastening points of the cylinder heads into the monocoque chassis of the 959 Panigale. Essential Desmo During the Superquadro's development the need to control large valves with the extremely precise Desmodromic system prompted engineers to replace the belt drive of previous Superbikes, mounted on the first Ducati Pantah in 1979, with a configuration mixing both chain and gears. This chain drive efficiently synchronizes the crankshaft and camshaft, and thanks to an automatic tensioner, ensures constant reliability and a reduction in routine maintenance costs. Flawless Performance The Superquadro is the most potent twin-cylinder engine on the planet, and in the 959 Panigale it produces a fantastic 157 hp@10,500 rpm, and 107.4 N-m of torque @9,000 rpm. And thanks to the sweet nature of the L-twin, and Riding Mode options, the rider is able to easily modulate this tremendous power and tailor it to his riding style and road conditions.
