This is the most desirable of the Seca II's. There are 3 evolutions and the latest version has a variable choke control lever on the handlebars. The earlier versions have a 2 step choke lever down under the fuel tank and you basically have to warm up the bike before you ride off. This is a real pain. My 97 version also has the black painted engine and the developed fairing for better wind protection and appearance. I am the 2nd owner and the original owner took off the factory decals right away. The bike is gorgeous and, in its red color, the current generations of Ducat's seem to have copied it. I ride and maintain it regularly, so it does not have the hardened seals and carburetor gunking issues that stored bikes have. It has always been garaged and I am a fanatic about always finding some shade for it when I park it. It really looks as good as the pictures. The seat is like new. Yamaha has amazing quality. What really sets this bike apart is that it has been sorted and tuned. As Yamaha moved up from the 550 Seca to the 600 Seca II it re-tuned the engine from having a strong top end with little low and middle range torque, to one that emphasized low and middle range torque at the expense of high end power. As a result, the Seca II doesn't have that top end power surge. I fixed that on mine by porting the cylinder head. Even though it's a Yamaha with great cylinder head breathing, it really responds to a good porting job. This bike has a stronger low and mid range and has a great surge in power at the top end. It runs like a sport bike should. The rest of the sorting involved enriching the idle/low speed circuit, setting consistent float levels, careful carburetor balancing, K&N air filter, polishing the air intake snorkel, advancing the ignition timing and adding the Fitch fuel catalyst. Not only does it run good, but it gives excellent fuel mileage. I typically get mid to high 50's with my best mileage in the low 60's. My profession has been as a maintenance manager, so I have kept the bike in first class condition. It has always been run on Mobile One synthetic oil. Its 20,000 mile service included new sprockets and chain, front fork seals, carburetor removal and cleaning, replacement carburetor to cyl head rubber spigots, rebuilt fuel valve diaphragm, replacement fuel pump (now electric), flushed hydraulic fluids, upgraded brake pads, Michelin Pilot Activ tires, new Yuasa Glass Mat battery, and new ignition coils and spark plug wires. (I always use Shell V power with its exceptional cleaning additive and even supplement it with Techron concentrate...to be sure the intake ports are kept clean. As a result when I took the float bowls off the carbs for cleaning they were completely clean..$1,950.00 5754343443
