Newer parts are Michelin Comander front and rear tires, battery, Trucklite LED headlight with angel eye ring from Kuryakyn, charging system indicator, starter rebuild, both OE throttle cables, Roadburner dual exhaust, air filter POD kit, oil filter relocation kit from Jordine, Tombstone rear LED light kit from kuryakyn, front LED turn signals from Bikecraft, OE starter clutch, rear brake pads, Mustang drivers and passenger seat, LED flasher, windscreen, fork wind deflectors, oil change with full synthetic oil just done 100 mls ago. The services that are done are front fork fluid, brake fluid, rear differential fluid, fuel filter and the oil change of course. And current inspection too, moving up to a bigger bike and this one has been a rock solid bike for me threw the years and miles. Bike really never sits, I ride year round. Front fender needs some work and exhaust has some dings on the underside. WHAT IS NOT GOING WITH THE BIKE IS AS FOLLOWS; breakaway cruise control, highway foot pegs on the floor boards ( paid way to much for these) and rear most tool bag and the ram mounts. Im selling my 1982 Yamaha Seca Turbo XJ650LJ The bike has presently18563 miles on it, that may change til the bike sells. Its in what I would consider better than average condition for a bike of this age. Its a running, riding bike, the turbo makes boost pressure as it should. Its over 30 years old, but I did the preventative maintenance on it since owning it, so its in good mechanical condition. Everything on the bike works as it should, except occassionaly the left signal does not blink, and once in a while the fuel gauge does not register, its says the bike is empty when its full. Neither of these are big issues at all, I just want all to be known about the bike. It has a plug in for a battery tender or heated clothing installed also. It has a new battery installed in the last year, and I keep it on a battery tender when not in use. There is one notable scratch in the finish I pointed out in one of the photos. I have owned in the past few years several bikes from the 80's and early 90's, I just no longer have time to ride and have sold all of my bikes, this Yamaha is the last bike I own. Because I owned many bikes at one time, often my bikes would sit for about a month or so without being ridden. This Yamaha when it sits for a long period of time, it can be difficult to start, but it always starts. If you ride it regularly it always fires right up. Just when it sits for a period of a few weeks is it difficult, I just chalked it up as the way it is, and again like I said above its over 30 years old. I am selling this bike AS IS, and recommend coming to see it in person so you know exactly what condition its in, I tried to describe it as best I could, but everyones condition of good or average differs. For sale is my 1982 Yamaha Turbo Seca. It has 18,500 miles on it. I ride the bike so it will increase til it sells. It looks very good for its age, its a very nostalgic bike, not many exist any longer. It was cutting edge back in its time, being an actual turbo charged motorcycle, very futuristic styling and having an electronic instrument cluster. A Yamaha Seca Turbo was featured in the James Bond movie "Never Say Never Again". Its 33 years old, so dont expect it to be perfect, but its in great condition for the age it is. Everything on the bike works except occassionally the left blinker comes on solid, and the fuel gauge sometimes reads incorrectly. It also has a modern aftermarket fuel shutoff installed. Since owning it I have replaced the plugs, fork seals, cleaned and sinked the carbs, changed the oil when needed, replaced the shaft drive fluid, installed new front brake pads etc. In the photos the bike has a valid VT plate on it, but its located in Mechanicsburg PA. I have my 1982 Yamaha Turbo Seca XJ650LJ for sale. Its in good running and looking condition as the pictures show. If you are not familiar with turbo bikes, back in the early 80's these bikes were the latest craze, an attempt to get large amounts of horsepower from smaller power plants, like this 650cc. They didnt go over well as to the high price tag when new, and the word "Turbo" made your insurance rates go up. I bought this bike because I love rare vehicles in general, its a blast to ride and watch the turbo boost gauge rise and feel the kick in seat when it does. I dont know if I would call this a "beginners bike" as it is a little scary because it is fast, but more so the handling is of 1982 technology, as well as the brakes. It has a rear drum brake, and the factory single piston front calipers so it does not stop on a dime as today's modern bikes do, especially when the turbo boost hits and you have to slow the bike in a hurry, it can be scary! But dont get me wrong, the bike is a lot of fun, just be aware that this machine may not be for everyone. Its comfort level in riding possition is like that of a sport touring bike though. I recently have changed the oil, replaced the fork seals, cleaned the carburetors, etc. The bike is 30 plus years old, but operates as it should, however occassionally the left turn signal will not blink (stays on solid), the fuel gauge reads empty sometimes when its full of gas and once in a while the tachometer seems slow to react to change in engine speeds. The bike also has a modern aftermarket fuel shutoff installed. These bikes can be quirky and not many people know much about them at bike shops anymore, and they are fairly complex, there is however a whole online community dedicated to these nostalgic turbo motorcycles though that has helped me with an issue or two since owning it.
