We are selling a 1972 Yamaha CS5E 200 Street. AKA, the RD200 predecessor. The "E" stands for electric start. This bike has 895 original miles, and it has been preserved or restored where necessary to excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. It got 2nd place in the April 2014 OC Vintage bike show in Huntington Beach, CA. Everything on it works, and it runs and rides great. It is a blast to ride...light, quick, and great handling. The bike starts easily with either the electric or kick start, and shifts through the 5 gears smoothly. The brakes are excellent..the front being the same size twin-leading show as on the contemporary R5 350. The auto lube system has new lines and is properly adjusted and works as it should. Some of the highlight of the work that has been done since 2013: Engine top end, carbs, electrical system and forks rebuilt and engine tuned by Mach 1 Cycles of Costa Mesa. Machine work was by Q&E machine, Santa Ana. Paint on tins by California Cycle Design in Costa Mesa. Chrome by Orange County Plating. The paint is base/clear coat, polished to perfection. The bike has many NOS parts, and a few select repro parts. NOS parts: Tank badges, pistons, rings, pins, fork seals, fork nuts, tach cable, brake cable, speedo cable, brake and clutch levers, footpeg, shift, and kick rubbers, and the stop switch. Repro parts include air cleaner boots, seat cover, blinkers, mirrors, and the rear shocks. Most people will look at the bike and think its like brand new and perfect, but it's not. While most of the chrome has been redone, the pipes and rear fender have not, and they have some light pitting. Those familiar with these vintage bikes will understand that it is 43 years old, and there are minor idiosyncrasies with its operation. Sometimes the engine stalls when shifting from neutral to 1st when it's cold, and sometimes neutral is difficult to select when hot. There is a small oil leak on the left side from either the clutch pushrod, or the shifter seals. The generator light comes on at idle, but goes away as soon as revs reach above idle. Charging system works perfectly. Rims are original and in great shape. The bike comes with the original rider's manual, factory service manual, and parts listing. Also included is a copy of the 1972 Cycle World road test article and original magazine advertisement for the bike. Clean title. You will not be disappointed with this beauty.
