Born on the racetrack and raised on the street, the 2016 GSX-S1000 ABS is derived from the legendary, championship-winning 2005-2008 gen GSX-R1000. The new GSX-S lineup carries the spirit of the Suzuki GSX-R to the street, with shared technology and components packaged into a chassis designed specifically for street riding comfort. It’s more than just an attitude, a spirit, or a lineage though; it’s about performance-packed hard parts evolving from one generation to the next. The GSX-S1000 ABS is powered by a 999cc inline four-cylinder powerplant that’s based on the long-stroke GSX-R1000 engine, which makes for ideal street-riding power and torque curve. Focused on making big power through the low and mid-range, this engine also uses cams optimized to deliver street-dominating power.Equipped with a powerful engine, Suzuki’s Advanced Traction Control System*, and Brembo brakes with Antilock Brake System*, the 2016 GSX-S1000 ABS is a street bike packed with some serious performance. It cannot prevent loss of traction due to excessive speed when the rider enters a turn and/or applies the brakes. Neither can it prevent the front wheel from losing grip.*Depending on road surface conditions, such as wet, loose, or uneven roads, braking distance for an ABS-equipped vehicle may be longer than for a vehicle not equipped with ABS. ABS cannot prevent wheel skidding caused by braking while cornering. Please drive carefully and do not overly rely on ABS.Get a grip on a whole new standard. Striking looks. Comfort. Power. When introduced 30 years ago, the GSX-R750 rocked the world with performance and a design that redefined sport motorcycles. Suzuki celebrates this sea of change by unveiling a pair of Limited Edition GSX-R1000 models that pay tribute to the original GSX-Rs. The 1985 GSX-R750 wore classic blue-on-white stripes that came to signify Suzuki racing worldwide for the last three decades. The new 2016 Blue-White Limited Edition GSX-R1000 continues this classic Suzuki racing heritage motif. Notably, the Suzuki Ecstar MotoGP team recently added this historical livery to a special version GSX-RR. In 1986, a red-and-black GSX-R750 arrived to pay homage to the race bikes piloted by the Yoshimura Suzuki riders who competed at the Suzuka 8 Hour endurance races in the 1980s. Suzuki’s new 2016 Red-Black Limited Edition GSX-R1000 commemorates that landmark GSX-R, as well as the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R raced in 1986 by former Grand Prix World Champion Kevin Schwantz. This red-and-black livery made its AMA Superbike debut on the GSX-R1000 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway under Yoshimura Suzuki rider Roger Hayden. Each Limited Edition GSX-R1000 carries an exclusive “30 Years of Performance” badge atop its gas tank, plus special wheel striping to signify its limited production status.
