Unlike traditional body-on-frame construction, which forced passengers to climb up to enter their vehicles, Hudson designers placed the entire passenger compartment down inside the chassis, surrounded by a sturdy perimeter frame. This positioned the car at a lower center of gravity, enabling it to handle exceptionally well. Hudson recognized the marketing value of racing, and engineers including Vince Piggins developed a line of “severe usage parts” which transformed the robust Hornet into the definitive stock car of the early 1950s. A lineup of drivers including Dick Rathmann, Tim Flock, Jack McGrath, Frank Mundy and Lou Figaro accumulated 13 racing wins in 1951, 49 in 1952 and 46 in 1953 in “The Fabulous Hudson Hornet”. No other car of the time could match the Hudson’s bulletproof construction, good handling and factory support. One of only 500 produced in 1951, the two-door convertible has beautiful concave lines that lead to a round rear end that looks complete from behind. The well-known car is powered by none other than the respected Power Dome Hudson inline six-cylinder engine, backed by a Hydramatic transmission. This particular Hudson Hornet Convertible Brougham has been restored from the ground-up and has been described in terms such as “a piece of jewelry.” The exterior is finished in show-quality Cornish Cream with beautiful chrome and stainless steel trim. The interior is finished in maroon leather upholstery, with the correct waffle-pattern door inserts, and it is complemented by a tan stay-fast power convertible top. Several desirable options adorn this magnificent example, including radio, heater, power windows, driver- and passenger-side pillar-mounted spotlights, fender skirts, bias-ply wide whitewalls with factory full wheel covers. The expensive restoration this car received was certainly worthy for such an exceptional automobile. The 1951 Hudson Hornet is an unforgettable racing legend, and a must have for any serious collector of American automobiles. ONE OF A KIND 1939 KING COBRA CONVERTIBLEDESIGNED & BUILT BY PAUL NORMAND Titled as a 1939 Ford Cobra (you read that right, 1939)! I am very pleased to offer an absolute one of a kind custom steel bodied automotive masterpiece and titled as a 1939 Ford Cobra Convertible designed and built by the inimitable Paul Normand and completed just recently and has never been offered for sale to the public, so I guess you could say that this is the IPO (Intial Public Offering) for this spectacular 1939 King Cobra Convertible. The body is entirely constructed of steel and is aesthetically unlike any other Cobra inspired creation the world has ever seen as the fenders are massive and flare beautifully and boldly from its hard tapered midsection. This very powerful professionally built sports car has a custom built cobra copied tube frame and is powered by a road ripping 1948 Ford flat head V8 with a 1948 Ford manual transmission. The elegant and European inspired interior is brand new and flawless as can be observed in the photographs as is the elegant and rare design feature of the brand new convertible top that resourcefully and cleverly folds down completely hidden behind the cockpit seats when retracted. The exterior paint is newly applied and flawless as the car has absolutely no dings and no dents and looks as a new vehicle would. This vehicle is so unique and customized that I would please encourage all inquiries and have Paul Normand himself answer completely and fully any thing you wish to know about this very amazing automotive acquisition opportunity. Why buy a rare collectible car when you can buy a unique one. Nothing upstages a Paul Normand designed and built automobile !! ABOUT PAUL NORMAND Mr. Normand is known globally in the world of hand fabrication of custom Speedsters and Roadsters and one of a kind Hot Rods and reputedly builds only one or two cars in the winter of each year. I have offered him a lucrative commission to construct a massive speedster body on my hulkish 1921 La France chain driven fire truck and he kindly responded "I don't take commissions". Mr. Normand embodies the creative spirit of every truly great artist and is not motivated by money alone to envision, design and create cars, as he only builds cars that he wants to see created. Trust me, one day books will be written about this legendary New England gentleman as his cars are voraciously collected and curated by private museums and institutions worldwide and pursued by deep pocketed collectors and fine car enthusiasts/speculators globally. His cars are sold by world class auction venues like Mecum and Barrett Jackson with astonishing "reserve shattering" results. Opportunities to acquire Mr. Normand's automotive artworks are dwindling as it is my understanding that Mr. Normand is over 70 years of age. In the very peculiar consumer age where mundane, cookie cutter mass produced kit cars can now cost upwards $100,000 (AC Cobra replicas) it is becoming increasingly difficult or nearly impossible to find old world artisans who can manually (ingeniously) hammer, bend, manipulate and stick weld steel skin over buck molds to create unique, authentic looking beautiful and provoking cars as was executed in the golden age of custom bodied automobiles of the 1920's and 1930's. I have the unique distinction of having owned four Paul Normand automotive masterpieces and when I offered two of my Normand Speedsters for sale last week, they were immediately and aggressively pursued by multiple buyers nationally and internationally, but eventually both cars ended up in the most illustrious and private, mid western automobile museum/collection in the United States (of over 500 convertibles!) and all of this frenzied bidding, negotiation and ultimate sale was consummated in just under 72 hours. As always, I am very open and receptive to other automotive or other asset class trades, up, down or sideways. It never hurts to ask. Thanks. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER RARE VEHICLES I AM OFFERING THIS WEEK ON EBAY. JUST CLICK SELLER'S OTHER ITEMS. THEY WON'T LAST LONG!!
