SUPERB bike! Great power, but SO smooth. Light and nimble, moderate seat height, and great ground clearance. It's comfortable and easy to ride anywhere and everywhere. Powered by KTM's RFS motor, arguably the best powerplant they've ever built, it's durable, reliable, and relatively low maintenance. I love this bike and will miss it, but it needs a new home. I bought it for $2100, it was worth $3000 easy, and I've put $1000 into it myself. Here's a factory spec list: mbike com / ktm / 400-exc-racing / 2002 and let's run down the specifics. THE GOOD -Street legal with all components and title -3117 Miles on the clock (note computer is aftermarket and I don't know when it was added. RFS motors typically good for over 20k miles) -Trail Tech Voyager computer w/GPS -Trail Tech X2 headlight (wired with high/low beam) -5-gallon fuel tank -FMF Factory 4.1 slip-on (I believe header is factory) -Electric radiator fan -Rekluse Z-Start clutch (AMAZING for trail riding) -GP Racing suspension -Shinko 244 front tire, Mefo Explorer rear (great 50/50 tires, confident and quiet on road, surprisingly capable off-road) -Tubliss 2.0 front and rear -T.M. Designworks chain guide and Enduro Engineering case saver/clutch cover -Tusk hand guards with integrated turn signals -Thumper Racing engine work (frankly, I don't know what as I have no documentation on it. I do know it runs STRONG, and maintains its smooth, easy-to-ride nature) THE BAD -Needs a $45 clutch cover gasket from Rekluse, and some elbow grease putting it back together. When the gasket started leaking, I didn't know it needed a special thicker gasket direct from Rekluse. THE UGLY -MAY need a $30 carb needle valve kit. It had a fuel leak, but I thoroughly cleaned the carb and found a rock in the fuel inlet by the gasket so problem SHOULD be solved, but I haven't ran it since. If it's still leaking, it's a $30 kit and 10 minute install. -Chain could use replacing. It has life and adjustability left, but note pictures. -Could use new air filter ($11) -Clutch lever is broken in half. $10 to replace, but I actually prefer it the way it is. I have it adjusted with a lighter throw, but it now has a longer throw to still disengage fully. -I have 1 qt of the recommended Motorex full synthetic oil, but the other quart leaked out around the improper clutch cover gasket. $17. I also have the oil filters for the oil change. And that's it! A fantastic go-anywhere, do-anything bike needing only a gasket and some elbow grease. I planned to make it into a lightweight playful adventure bike, and get a snowbike kit for it, but now I need the money more.
