It responds to small bumps better, but still resists bottoming over really big hits. Fine-tuning the rear travel helps with steering during hard braking and on long, fast downhill sections. New suspension settings front and rear keep the balance right and increase steering precision. In addition, the CRF250R gets a new cylinder head and new camshaft, and new throttle body, airbox and intake boot, all designed to give you more user-friendly power. And finally we’ve even given the 2012 CRF250R wider, longer footpegs for better grip and comfort and fitted it with premium Dunlop MX51 tires for superior traction in corners and under acceleration.
When mixing the ingredients for the YZ250 two-stroke, Yamaha got the recipe right by combining stable handling and great power. The bike is in no way finicky or slow; in fact, it can almost run with a stock 450cc four-stroke with the right pilot on board. But the engine is a snappy combination of steady roll-on, strong mid-range and good top-end pull.
