Equipped with an electric starter for the current model year, the 200 XC-W now receives a significantly stronger starter motor for improved starting reliability. Combined with its optimum rideability thanks to a new cylinder head and carb jetting, the 200 XC-W has become more userfriendly than ever. This makes it the first choice for all who are looking for perfect handling, first-rate comfort and plenty of power outside the competitive class society and who rate riding fun and reasonable costs above all else. Features May Include: ELECTRIC STARTER New significantly stronger electric starter (480 W instead of 370 W) provides even more reliable starting. OPTIMIZED ENGINE The engine has a redesigned reed valve housing featuring Boyesen high-performance reeds. This has improved performance and responsiveness. The ignition curve and cylinder head have been optimized and the carburetor setting adjusted to make the 200 XC-W a great ride. CYLINDER HEAD New cylinder head with optimized combustion chamber offers more efficient combustion, better response especially under partial load, better power delivery and optimized rideability. FRAME The modern and lightweight frame design made of high-strength chromoly steel sections combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with optimum torsional ridgy. It guarantees easy handling and precise cornering, but also outstanding stability. SWINGARM Designed using the latest in calculation and simulation software, the design and wall thickness of the cast aluminum swingarm have been optimized for minimum weight at optimum stiffness and precisely defined flexibility. For 2014, the engineers have revised the chain guide to increase reliability while lowering the weight. SUPERIOR SUSPENSION SETTINGS The first rate WP Suspension elements have been further improved for 2014. The unrivalled performance of the lightweight 2-stroke engine makes it a true contender against the more complex 4-strokes. For MY 2016 the 250 XC features detail improvements and new colors and graphics, but basically retains the same chassis and engine specification as MY 2015. Features May Include: ENGINE The powerful KTM 250 XC engine unites an unbeatable power-to-weight ratio with outstanding performance and extremely easy handling. CLUTCH The KTM DDS (Damped Diaphragm Steel) clutch is fitted with a diaphragm spring, which allows implementation of an internal rubber damping system. Together with a lightweight steel basket and the Brembo hydraulic system the DDS clutch offers maximum reliability, excellent modulation and light lever pull. CYLINDER The cylinder of the 250 XC is fitted with a sophisticated TVC (Twin Valve Control) power valve, providing adjustable power characteristics. The power character can be changed within a few seconds thanks to two supplied springs for different tracks and rider preference. LINKAGE/SHOCKABSORBER The linkage system of the 250 XC features a progressive curve with a high initial rate ensuring good stability. The high-end WP 5018 shock absorber guarantees outstanding response and damping characteristics. Compression and rebound damping can be adjusted to the track conditions and the rider's preferences. FRAME The modern frame design of the 250 XC, comprised of lightweight, high strength, chrome-molybdenum steel section tubes, combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with optimum torsional stiffness. HANDLEBAR The 250 XC is equipped with a tapered handlebar made of high-strength aluminum by NEKEN, which is fixed in a new rubber damped handlebar clamp allowing the handlebar to be mounted in two different positions. A new, larger handlebar pad protects the rider in case of a crash.
