Features May Include: FrameThe modern frame design of the SX models, built from lightweight, high strength, chrome-molybdenum steel section tubes, combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with optimum torsional stiffness. A forged and milled cross-peice connects the two frame halves with the connecting rod of the linkage on the 2015 SX frame. Omission of the weld seams leads to very precise manufacturing tolerances and it saves another 60 grams of weight.Linkage / Shock AbsorberThe revamped damping system for MY 2015 features a new linkage with optimized geometry. The flatter progression with a higher initial rate ensures greater stability and lowers the rear end. In addition, the new design saves another 40 grams of weight. The fully adjustable WP 5018 shock absorber has been completely retuned to suit the new linkage.ForkThe fully adjustable upside-down fork from WP Suspension has been perfectly tuned to the new rear wheel damping system and the new 22 mm front axle (formerly 26 mm) for MY 2015. Since Tony Cairoli s first win in the 2010 MX1 World Championship, his first year as a KTM factory rider on the 350 SX-F, the Red Bull athlete from Sicily has dominated the class with five consecutive world championships at the top tier of motocross aboard this nimble, but powerful bike including many, many race wins. The bike itself comprises of almost as much power as a 450, but with the agility of a 250 so the basic idea is easily summarized, and has been a concept with success from the start. Features May Include: ENGINE The new DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) engine of the 350 SX-F features a completely new construction in order to make it even more compact and powerful than before. Fitted with the latest electronic fuel injection system and electric starter, it has a very wide usable speed range, high performance and incredibly efficient rideability. The new design made the engine 20 mm shorter than previously, while reducing the weight by 1 kg to only 27.2 kg. CYLINDER AND PISTON In the redesigned and shorter cylinder, with a bore of 88 mm, works a weight reduced forged bridged box-type piston made by CP. Its new piston crown geometry is adapted to the new high-compression combustion chamber and stands out with its extra rigid structure, combined with a low weight. The compression ratio is at 14:1. Thanks to the low oscillating masses, the engine offers extremely lively characteristics. TRANSMISSION The new engine is fitted with an all-new and weight reduced, five-speed gearbox. It features the same gear ratio as the previous model, but has wider gear sprockets, featuring a special surface treatment on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears for improved reliability. One of the new and special features on the bike is an advanced NO-DIRT gear lever design, which prevents dirt from blocking the joint of the lever and guarantees a safe activation of the transmission. MONOSHOCK The new generation of monoshock made by WP Suspension has been developed for the new SX models in conjunction with the new frame and swingarm architecture, including the reworked linkage system and the new WP forks. Its DOHC (double overheard camshaft) design with lightweight titanium valves and DLC coated finger followers allows for lively but strong engine characteristics. Fitted with the latest electronic fuel injection system and electric starter, it has an extremely wide usable speed range, high performance and incredibly efficient rideability. The 350 SX-F engine shares the same layout as the one in the 250 SX-F, its playful handling similar to a 250 machine resulting mainly from reducing the moving masses to a minimum. CYLINDER HEAD The cylinder head features two overhead camshafts with friction-optimized finger followers boasting a DLC coating and high-flow ports. Four lightweight titanium valves maximize the flow rate for an optimal power band and outstanding performance across the seemingly endless rev range of 13,400rpm, power peaking at 58hp. New lateral brackets now made of aluminum instead of steel allow an efficient fixation of the engine to the frame and cut any excess weight. CRANKSHAFT The 350 SX-F s crankshaft utilizes a short connecting rod, which makes for an overall compact and lightweight engine with a snappy power delivery. A plain big-end bearing with two force-fitted bearing shells runs directly on the crank pin.
