The bike is ridden often and runs very well. As you can see from the pictures it has a electronic ignition (mech advance) which was installed by me. This has to be one of the original aftermarket ignitions offered and still runs perfect. The neck bearings are still the original ball type and were cleaned inspected and reinstalled

This bike was a gift to me. I had originally planned to just hold onto it for years, as I know the value will only increase. However, some things have come up, and I could use the extra cash to pay off some bills. That said, I am very "on the fence" of to whether even to sell it due to it's rarity. I've had several dealerships ask me about it to put on their show floor. The odometer reads less than 100 miles. The odometer works, but although the bike is in excellent condition, the tires would suggest that the mile count isn't accurate. The bike has been garage kept for years. Excellent shape. Very rare color. The bike runs perfectly. I have videos proving that.

I am the second owner of this motorcycle and have owned it for 30 years. It was refreshed 20 years ago and then made an appearance in Cycle World magazine in August of 1998. It was awarded 3rd place in the Classic Japanese Concours. (Bested only by a sand-cast KO, and a CB400f which was riding a wave of popularity at the time.) However, this is not a show bike and never was. It is the motorcycle I wanted in college but couldn't afford. 15 years after its debut, I bought this one at a yard sale and have treated it like a motorcycle - not a prop in a man-cave. Like all my motorcycles, it has been ridden fast and far. And, like all my motorcycles, it receives excellent care and maintenance. As pictured here, it is currently wearing a set of Lester cast wheels with Metzler Lazers for performance. The original factory wheels are included and are wearing IRCs with an OEM tread pattern. Also included, is a more recently acquired set of correct OEM Dunlop tires: K87 Gold Seal rear tire (new) and the extremely rare F6 front (very light wear). All the original parts that have been replaced, have been kept and are included in the sale. Due to photo limitations, not all has been shown. Included are 3 seats, full Vetter and Shoei touring package, Tracy 1/4 fairing with smoke windshield and a Japanese market 4-into-1 exhaust that has never been mounted. The bike is wearing replacement body work, purchased from Kawasaki in the late 1980's. The original body work (small badge tank) is included and is in factory finish, fair condition. Also, a Lockhart oil cooler with all fittings, case guards, luggage rack, chain, additional rear wheel with brake and axle assembly. The original switch-gear and wiring harness have been replaced with an aftermarket product for reliability. The original switches are in good cosmetic condition, but the wiring has become brittle and prone to cracks and shorts. Good for display, not so good for use. The only other mods are unseen: needle bearings in the swing arm and tapered rollers in the steering head. I am not interested in splitting this package, it all goes as one. Factory shop manual and owner's manual are included. Clear Missouri title plus the original title issued in Iowa in 1973. If you know these bikes, you know what to look for and I'm to glad to answer questions by phone or email and send additional requested pics. Terms of sale are simple: cash/cashier's check, in person, no shipping and no demo rides. May consider partial trade for Japanese adventure bike or sport-tourer. This is a 1974 Kawasaki Z1 restored to the highest level. A correct original numbers matching Z1. Frame # Z1F-23689 / Engine # Z1E-2371.Gas tank tail cowling and side covers are original 1974 painted to absolute correct detail using two stage paint ordered from Ralph @ PAINTWORKZ specializing in correct factory paint. The exhaust is original factory and in excellent shape but no perfect in terms of chrome. This is a better choice than perfectly chromed repro's, however. The seat is factory original pan and powdercoated to protect it from battery acid corrosion as is common on these bikes. Gauges are original to the bike and reconditioned/restored. Chain oiler is present and installed without tube added. Wheels are correct issue Tagasako 303 stamped. They have been rechromed and NOS factory spokes with factory brass nipples have been laced up. The engine is completely rebuilt using NOS pistons and rings with no overbore. The engine work is extensive and included a complete disassembly and rebuild including all the head work with new valves and valve guides, etc. As you can see from the pictures there are many brand new items such as sprockets, chain, air filter, spark plugs, etc. Things one would want done for a read rider's show bike. Correct factory stickers are present. If there is a finer restored 1974 Z1 we are not aware of it. Restoration at this level requires meticulous time consuming attention to detail that is not commonly found and tends to be too expensive for most folks to embrace. Clean title.
