The standard version of the Multistrada 1200 combines the outstanding performance of the new Testastretta 11° DS engine with sophisticated Ducati Safety Pack technology and unmistakeable Ducati instinct. Standard Features May Include: Testastretta 11° DS The Testastretta 11° engine was introduced on the Multistrada 1200 in 2010. Derived from the Superbike 1198 engine, it achieved brilliant results when valve overlap was reduced from 41° (typical of sport engines) to 11°, losing some peak power in favour of improved overall smoothness, especially in the mid-range. The new Multistrada family introduces the second generation of Testastretta 11° DS engines with several new features that make it even smoother and more tractable. Dual Spark ignition (DS) uses two plugs per cylinder to ensure complete combustion in very short time. The fuel injectors have been relocated to aim the jet of fuel directly at the hotter rear end of the suction valve, so that all fuel is atomised. A secondary air system similar to that of the 1199 Panigale has been introduced to optimise operation and reduce cyclic combustion variability without affecting emissions. A controlled flow of fresh air is supplied to the exhaust duct to enable complete oxidisation of hot unburnt gases, to effectively reduce hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide levels. With 150 hp power, 12.7 Kgm (124.5 Nm) torque and 10% less consumption (at 90 kph), the Testastretta 11° DS engine sets a new benchmark for Ducati twin-cylinder engines. Slipper clutch requires less effort at the lever The wet clutch of the Multistrada 1200 provides a lighter feel at the lever, ensuring great comfort even when the rider needs to shift gears frequently. The system features an anti-hop function for guaranteed stability under hard braking. Magnesium front subframe The magnesium front subframe helps shed off some more weight and provides firm, stable support to front light unit, instrument panel and fairing. Its special construction has been designed to reduce weight up front and high up on the bike, so as to further improve riding control. Although this component is hidden from sight under the fairing, its design has been perfected down to the finest detail. Single-sided swinging arm The single-sided swinging arm is maybe the most elegant, yet complex mechanical component of the new Multistrada 1200. It is chill-cast in a single piece with four bonded cores for a sleeker inboard contour, machined and paint finished. The 1200 cc Testatstretta 11° DS engine is available in two different power variants: the Monster 1200 delivers 99,3 kW (135 CV) of power @ 8.750 rpm and 118 Nm (12,0 kgm) of torque @ 7.250 rpm, while the Monster 1200 S features a dedicated RbW mapping allowing 106,6 kW (145 hp) of power @ 8,750 rpm and 124,5 Nm (91.8 lb-ft) of torque @ 7,250 rpm. 2014 Ducati Superbike 899 Panigale Arctic White Silk, 2014 Ducati Superbike 899 Panigale Arctic White Silk Your road to the track The revolutionary technology found in the Monoscocca frame and Superquadro engine, 148 HP delivered with incredible lightness and unprecedented agility, the unmistakable design, Ducati Quick Shift and ABS fitted as standard. This all ensures that the 899 Panigale is just the bike to give a Ducati Superbike adrenalin rush, both on the track and on the road. Architecture The engine has been designed as the structural element of the frame. As such, its architecture has been completely reviewed to ensure the best design in terms of structure, weight distribution and robustness. The cylinders, at a 90Â° angle to each other, have been rolled back an additional 6Â° on the crankcase to produce a 21Â° angle between the front cylinder and the horizontal plane. This has allowed the engine to go forward, accordingly improving the distribution of weights between the front and rear end and achieving the perfect position of the fastening points of the cylinder heads into the monocoque chassis of the 899 Panigale. Monocoque Technology The 899 Panigale's chassis continues the innovative Monoscocca concept: different components have been integrated to give shape to a single compact and lightweight element that also enhances the rider's posture to perfect the riding position. The monocoque structure in cast aluminium for increased strength uses the Superquadro engine as a structural element and allows Ducati Superbikes to be lightest-in-class. The monocoque frame is fixed directly to the cylinder head, and at its front are two aluminium bushings inserted with the steering tube bearings. In addition to performing the traditional function of a frame, the monocoque also acts as an airbox. Housed inside it, in addition to the air filter, are the throttle bodies and fuel circuit complete with injectors; and the bottom of the steel tank (lighter by 1.9% compared to previous generation Superbikes) becomes its cover when mounted in place. ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) 9ME The 9ME ABS standard on the 899 Panigale is a latest-generation system with two channels that performs combined braking with control of rear wheel lifting to guarantee not only shorter braking distances, but also the greatest stability during braking. Specifically intended for sport use, the 9ME ABS offers three levels of operation, each associated with a Riding Mode; in the Race mode, the system works only on front discs to allow advanced track braking techniques for expert riders.
