The development of the Testastretta Evoluzione has now found its crowning glory in the new engine for the latest addition to the Ducati family: the 1098 R. Created after close collaboration between engineers from Ducati's production and racing departments, this new engine is fitted with the same components powering the 1098 F08 that will take on the Japanese opposition in the 2008 World Superbike Championship. The R version of the 1098 has been boosted to an engine displacement of 1,198 cubic centimeters. A bore increase from 104 millimeters to 106 millimeters and a stroke value of 67.9 millimeters, producing a remarkable 1.56 ratio, complete the 'over-square' layout of the engine. Rare and immaculate Ducati 1098R. Original MSRP $39,995.00. Clean title, never dropped, number 135 of 450 made. 7,500 mile service completed with records... 10,200 Miles never dropped or raced. FullTermignoni, upgraded Ohlin fork cartridge kit and carbon fiber BST wheels....... much much more! Built in limited numbers so the Italian firm can race it WSB, the 1098R forms the basis of their F08 factory racer. In fact, never has the road bike and the racer been so close, thanks to ever tightening rules in the World Championship. Aside from different pistons and a smattering of detail changes the 1098R is exactly the same as the bike Troy Bayliss will ride this year. The 1098R is incredibly rapid, thanks to its new 1198.4cc engine, and its party piece is its full traction control system, the first time such a system has ever been fitted to a road bike. The DTC (Ducati Traction Control) is just like one used on Ducati's factory Superbike and MotoGP machine. With its new fully adjustable TTX twin-tube Ohlins rear shock and 43mm forks the Ducati's ride quality is superb. The suspension action is plush while still offering up lots of control when the tyres are loaded up during cornering, acceleration and braking. The riding position is unapologetically racy with high-set pegs and low clip-ons, the slim-line fuel tank helps you move around the bike with ease on track, but doesn't give you anything to grip onto when the ferocious Monobloc Brembo radial caliper brakes are applied. You just have to hang on for dear life. What a masterpiece! Compared to the 1098, the engine is lighter, stronger and has a bigger bore and stroke, taking the capacity up to 1198.4cc, bang on the WSB limit for twin-cylinder machines. Peak power is 180bhp, which rises to 186bhp with the carbon fibre racing Termis and race ECU fitted (supplied). This makes the 1098R the most powerful production V-twin ever produced. Torque is a staggering 99.1ftlb, which gives the Ducati the best torque to weight ratio of any road bike. Compared to the standard 1098 or 1098S the 'R' is an animal. It's almost impossible to keep the front wheel on the floor in the first three gears and it keeps on pulling hard for as long as the road or track allows. Throttle response from the twin-injector fuel-injection system is perfect. This is a limited edition motorcycle built to racing standards, so build quality is beyond superb !!!

Will consider possible trade for a Yamaha R1M or Piles Peak Multistrada with bags. Bike is in excellent condition with oem parts included. Bike comes with two tank in like new condition. One is the original tank with no scratches, and one is the Ducati Perfomance Aluminum tank ($2400 if you can find one :) on bike. Full termi exhaust and I have Ducati performance front and rear stands available as well. Check out the vid and pics. Bike tires have 1000 miles on them (Diablo super corsa's) and the bike was fully serviced at 6000 miles. Recent oil change last weekend. Questions let me know.
