Motorcycles Other DX5631161624338526640166348 DX1 . the hand controls needed to be refinished and some of the cable boots were needing to be replaced. the handlebars have been exchanged for proper USA type bars and the hand controls have been refinished and correct hand grips installed. We also performed the BMW Factory recommended 10K Service on the bike; a comprehensive end to end inspection service and adjustment. Black. We also addressed all the other small stuff mentioned above as well as several other small details previously unnoticed. the new owner wanted an upgraded suspension so we installed a new pair of Progressive 1200 Series rear shocks and installed the original polished aluminum covers on them so that they look very similar to original. 1974 BMW R75/6 SOLD.... This blows it up to maximum size (about 6 times window size) and you can use the scroll bars to move around your view point like your eye is 2 feet from the bike. the previous owner had a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration done five or six years ago and hasn? t ridden it much since. We wanted to go ride this bike for days when it was finished. None of this was really NECESSARY as only an expert would know the difference but we felt that the historic significance of this bike warranted making it perfect. We are totally confident that the new owner will fall in love with this beautiful machine and give it a well appreciated and well cared for second life. We built a new LWB seat using all new parts on an original 1974 metal pan and is now the correct length. Tires are like new. the Dyna III ignition is a good upgrade; we? ll leave it but move the main unit out of site to the frame backbone. the bike comes with the original tool kit hand pump and Owner? s Manual. We did notice a few things that we wanted to address in an effort to make it PERFECT and as ORIGINAL as it came from the factory;. the bike had Incorrect hand grips and the centerstand tine was missing. the front disc was a 1975 on drilled disc; we planned to put an original 1974 disc back on it. New original round front footpeg rubbers and NEW NLA (No Longer Available from BMW) original round rear footpeg assemblies were sourced and installed. Only 627 Miles! 1974 R75/6. Braided Stainless front brake line (we decided to leave this instead of restoring it to rubber). the drilled front disc has been exchanged for the correct 1974 only non-drilled disc. the horn was functional but was not the correct one with black body and chrome disc in front. the FIRST off the line. It didn? t really NEED service but we wanted to know that we had addressed everything and that nothing was missed. We have now finished all the changes necessary to make this beautiful BMW just a bit more perfect and much closer to ? Original? as it came from the factory. the engine and frame numbers match. It is very close to what a new 1974 R75/6 would have been like when picked up from a Dealer; a truly wonderful machine to ride! Unseen is the Progressive Suspension front progressively wound fork springs to improve road irregularity responses and lessen diving under hard braking. the seat was a SWB (short wheelbase) and needed to be exchanged for a LWB (long wheelbase) seat. the wheel spokes have been re-done with stainless (we? ll leave them as they are).
