A 14.000 rpm redline, factory spec WP AER 48 forks, orange anodized triple clamps and sprocket, an FMF muffler, launch control and Excel rims: this small bore superstar based on the prestigious 250 SX-F has what it takes to take on the big guns. And take them out. Features may include: ENGINE The new 250 SX-F engine is based on the similar overall design of its predecessor, with some major refinements to make this power plant more compact and lighter, with the production of improved torque and power across the entire rpm range. Perhaps one of the most impressive benefits of the new design is a weight reduction of 2 lbs, while still including the incredibly beneficial electric starter. The reworked engine guarantees an improved power curve over the entire rev range up to 14,000 rpm, which makes the new 250 SX-F a winner for both amateur and professional riders. CYLINDER HEAD The centerpiece of the compact DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) engine is the new cutting-edge cylinder head. It features improved combustion chamber geometry, two 150 g lighter overhead camshafts with new timing, plus a friction-optimized super-fine surface, new finger followers with a 30 % harder DLC coating and a reworked timing drive (friction reduced and shorter DID timing chain, new sprockets and chain guides). New valve springs and retainers for the four lightweight titanium valves (intake 32.5 mm, exhaust 26.5 mm) and high-flow ports create a maximized flow rate for an optimal power band and maximum performance, all the way up to a redline of 14,000 rpm. CYLINDER & PISTON In the reworked and shorter cylinder that has a bore of 78 mm, is a weight-reduced, forged bridged box-type piston made by CP. It features a unique piston shape adapted to the new combustion chamber and stands out with its extra-rigid structure, combined with a low weight. The compression ratio is at 14.4:1. Thanks to the low oscillating masses, the engine offers extremely lively characteristics. Toni Cairoli clearly has complete control of this class with his 350 SX-F and he loves this ingenious concept of low weight, playful handling and rev-oriented engine characteristics. A unique recipe for success, from which professionals benefit just as much as amateurs. Features May Include: Frame The modern frame design of the SX models, built from lightweight, high strength, chrome-molybdenum steel section tubes, combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with optimum torsional stiffness. A forged and milled cross-peice connects the two frame halves with the connecting rod of the linkage on the 2015 SX frame. Omission of the weld seams leads to very precise manufacturing tolerances and it saves another 60 grams of weight. Linkage / Shock Absorber The revamped damping system for MY 2015 features a new linkage with optimized geometry. The flatter progression with a higher initial rate ensures greater stability and lowers the rear end. In addition, the new design saves another 40 grams of weight. The fully adjustable WP 5018 shock absorber has been completely retuned to suit the new linkage. Fork The fully adjustable upside-down fork from WP Suspension has been perfectly tuned to the new rear wheel damping system and the new 22 mm front axle (formerly 26 mm) for MY 2015. The new axle provides a better feel for the front wheel and also saves a further 40 grams. The new fork stubs now feature an offset of 33 mm instead of 35 mm, which together with increased trail deliver greater ride stability. Furthermore, they accommodate newly developed, 50 gram lighter fork protectors. Triple Clamps High quality, CNC-machined triple clamps have long since been standard equipment at KTM. They ensure precise handling and provide a perceptible boost to the flexing characteristics and hence the responsiveness of the telescopic fork. The new O-ring carrier for the lower steering head bearing, a revised shaft tube and the new steering head bolt save another 40 grams. Wheels The wheels fitted for MY 2015 feature black coated, high-end Excel rims with lightweight, CNC-machined hubs and spokes with lightweight aluminium nipples, allowing highest levels of stability to be achieved, while keeping weight to a minimum.
