2017 KTM 250 EXC-F, 2017 KTM 250 EXC-F A RECIPE FOR SUCCESS Fill an agile, state-of-the-art chassis with an engine delivering class-leading power and torque. Then dress it with top class components, ensuring that the lively little 4-stroke maintains its edge over the competition. Finished. First. And it s easy on the stomach for amateur explorers, while still satisfying fame-hungry pros. Eat that, adversaries. Features may include: WEIGHT REDUCTION The main target for the KTM engineers when developing the EXC-F models was a massive weight reduction compared to the previous generation. The result: the current EXC-F s are the slimmest, lightest bikes in the dual sport segment. SWINGARM This updated design allows for an optimized mounting position of the PDS shock, providing more progressive action. Furthermore, the cast aluminum design guarantees lower weight and a perfect flex behavior. The single-component casting process also eliminates any inconsistencies and weak points. FRAME The high-tech, lightweight chrome-moly steel frame is engineered for excellent handling, precise cornering and supreme stability. You can also count on high torsional rigidity and low longitudinal stiffness for better absorption of the energy created by the front and rear suspension sucking up jumps and bumps. In short: more comfort and less rider fatigue. Laterally attached, lightweight engine head stays contribute to a reduced vibration level. Two threaded inserts in the lower cradle tubes allow for an optional skid plate. The engineers were able to pull off all that, while making the frame two pounds lighter than that of the lightest competitor on the market. In addition, the frame is easier to maintain, easier to work on and supplies more space for the tank and other components. The bike also features an extra-light aluminum subframe, which weighs in at less than 2 pounds. FOOTPEGS Sophisticated No Dirt footpegs prevent jamming up of the pegs, even when digging in deep ruts. The pegs on the EXC models are 6mm higher than the ones used on SX models, which benefits ground clearance. But you can swap them at will. FRONT SUSPENSION The all-new WP XPlor 48 upside-down fork is a split fork developed by WP in close collaboration with KTM. It is fitted with a spring on both sides but features separated functions for each fork leg: compression damping is fitted on the left side, while rebound is on the right. So the forks can easily be adjusted for compression and rebound with the twist of a dial on the top of the forks. In addition, a longer and sealed hydro-stop guarantees better resistance to bottoming-out. Due to high-quality materials and a state-of-the-art production process, the new XPlor 48 fork - with approx. 300mm of travel - has outstanding response and damping characteristics and is about a half of

2017 KTM 250 SX, 2017 KTM 250 SX LEADER OF THE PACK The new KTM 250 SX with its all-new engine has one of the best power-to-weight ratios in the world of dirt, forming the ultimate weapon against more complex 4-stroke rivals. With the grunt to devour all sorts of tracks and terrains, and a lightweight chassis keen to skim the surface, this masterpiece of KTM s R&D and Motorsport departments is born to lead the next pack of winners that prefer premix. Features may include: ENGINE The engine of the 250 SX has been known and respected for being the most powerful 2-stroke engine in its class. But we thought the segment could use an extra push and a solid statement: 2-strokes have a future at KTM. Their outstanding power-to-weight ratio, low cost and simplicity see to that. Putting our money where our mouth is, we gave the 250 SX engine an all new architecture with a new shaft arrangement for better mass centralization, a new cylinder with twin-valve controlled power valve, a new counter balance shaft for less engine vibrations, a 5-speed transmission and a hydraulically operated DDS clutch. This compact firecracker truly outshines the competition with its ripping performance and is the right choice for lovers of low purchasing and maintenance costs. Oh, and of course don t forget that belly tingling 2-stroke symphony when you re on the pipe. CYLINDER The newly developed cylinder of the 250 SX - with a bore of 66.4mm - has all-new ports and is fitted with an overhauled power valve system. This system features a sophisticated mechanism for the lateral support exhaust ports, providing smooth and controllable power on tap. Furthermore, it s possible to change the bike s mood in seconds thanks to two supplied powervalve springs. Limitless settings for different tracks and preferences are up for grabs. Throw everything you have at it; new water jackets in the cylinder and head will take care of excess heat and reworked lateral cylinder head brackets allow a more efficient fixation of the engine to the frame via lightweight head stays. Yes, this is a serious piece of kit. ENGINE CASES These all-new die-cast engine cases feature a 8mm higher clutch shaft and a 27mm higher crankshaft, resulting in better mass centralization. Which is nice if you care about sweet rideability. In addition, it allows the implementation of a counter balance shaft. So your ride will be as relaxed as it is rapid. Plus, your new favorite engine will keep looking as fresh as the day you bought it: redesigned engine covers feature a smart surface structure in order to reduce the wear caused by the rider s boots. CLUTCH The 250 SX employs the KTM-developed DDS clutch (damped diaphragm steel) with a wear-free steel basket and extremely heat resistant clutch plates. This clever design employs a diaphragm spring instead of the usual coil sp

2016 KTM Freeride 250 R, 2016 KTM Freeride 250 R The Lively One Features May Include: ENGINE To power the FREERIDE 250 R, the KTM design engineers took the two-stroke engine from the 250 EXC competition enduro and subjected it to comprehensive refinements, thereby reducing the weight of the already particularly lightweight power unit - in spite of electric starter - by a whole two kilograms and tuning it for optimal rideability. The engine on the FREERIDE 250 R is equipped with its own cylinder, featuring ducts and valve timing adapted to the desired torque curve, as well as a matching piston. Similarly to trials motorcycles, the elaborate exhaust control system of the 250 EXC has been omitted, which not only has a beneficial effect on the torque curve but also on the durability of the piston. That makes this engine even less complicated and even more robust. TRANSMISSION Compared with the 250 EXC, the 6-speed gearbox specially developed for the FREERIDE models has shorter transmission ratios, while the extended sixth gear is effectively designed as an overdrive. A short secondary gear ratio of 46 to 12 (FREERIDE 350 12/48) guarantees powerful traction and lively acceleration, especially in demanding terrain. CLUTCH Both the FREERIDE 250 R and the FREERIDE 350 are equipped with an undamped CCS (coil spring steel) clutch, featuring a wear-free steel cage and a clutch package tuned especially for the FREERIDES with seven steel carrier lining discs. Not least thanks to the special friction linings and softer springs, this clutch is characterised by optimized disengagement, while the hydraulic clutch armature from Formula ensures that the clutch is always easily and precisely controlled. BATTERY The Freeride 250 R is the first KTM motorcycle to be equipped as standard with a lithium-ion starter battery. This innovative technology not only saves one kilo of weight, it impresses above all with significantly greater efficiency, thereby ensuring higher efficiency of the electric starter system - in other words: the battery doesn't give up the ghost, even when started frequently. WHEELS AND TYRES The FREERIDE 250 R rolls on extremely light, spoked wheels with anodized, light-alloy rims from GIANT, CNC-machined hubs and light-alloy spoke nipples. The Trial-Maxx tyres derived from the world of trial sport, in sizes 2.75-21 and 4.00-18, have been specially developed by Maxxis for the KTM FREERIDES. They feature a soft, grippy compound and, compared with trials tyres, a much higher proportion of negative profile. This improves self-cleaning on muddy surfaces, without the tyres breaking up the ground excessively. Furthermore, the Maxxis tyres bestow the FREERIDE 250 R with perceptibly more agile handling and they are much more durable than pure trials tyres. BRAKES The Formula brake system complies with KTM's high standards and was sp
