2017 Zero DS ZF6.5 W/Charge Tank “All New Zero Models are Special Order units, Delivery takes 2-3 weeks” Come and try out the ultimate in silent dual sport, street or trail riding. This is the Zero DS/ZF6.5 . The "6.5" is the battery size, 6.5 kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy storage capacity in the most advanced batteries ever used in the transportation industry outside of NASA satellites. Zero batteries are actually slightly more energy dense than those used by fellow Northern California OEM Tesla Motors, this is logical I suppose as they must fit in a much smaller and lighter package. The DS motor is rated at 78 ft/lbs and 46 horsepower. Where electric motive power rocks in motorcycles is that full 78 ft/lbs of torque is available from standstill to speed limiter, you never need to wait for the motor be in the proper "powerband", it just flat goes! This bike is equipped with the "Charge Tank" option so has no "fuel tank" storage pocket but, in its place is a charge port to take advantage of the high amperage quick charger plugs now all around town. The DS is also available with a 13 kWh battery or as an R model with 116 ft/lbs of torque. The 6.5 version we have here for demo is lighter and with the quick EV charger can be topped off in way under an hour at literally thousands of charging places located around the Austin Metro area. 110V or "wall" socket charger is also on board for more charging options. The riding experience is sublime, as a motorcyclist coming from internal combustion riding you have a perception of speed based on many factory like noise, vibration, heat and the like, when these are subtracted from the riding experience there is a definite learning curve but absolutely ZERO loss of excitement. If anything the riding experience just changes a bit, hitting corners at steep lean angles you can actually hear the tires scrubbing speed, which is rather novel until you get used it. In town riding especially on a hot summer day is SO much nicer without all the heat associated with burning dead dinosaurs, the same applies in traffic. 2012 Zero Motorcycles Zero-S , All electric, easy to ride with no gear changes and virtually maintenance free. Reliable, turn key and its ready to roll. Electric charger built-in and works from standard outlet. 6 kWh battery capacity. It is quick putting torque in mid-range so it is an excellent commuter.
