Featuring a larger 775 amp motor controller, the Zero SR delivers more power (70 hp) and more torque (116 ft-lb) than any previous model or version. To accommodate the increased output, its motor uses higher temperature magnets to ensure better performance during extended periods at higher speeds. With more torque than most 1000cc sport bikes, the Zero SR pulls hard off the line…and just keeps pulling. Launching from 0-60 mph in 3 seconds (slightly over or under that number depending on many external factors and rider)en route to a top speed over 100 mph, the Zero SR offers spirited riders an edge in competitive riding. From lap times at the local track day to sweeping the podium at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the Zero SR is fundamentally changing the way electric motorcycles are perceived. The riding experience is sublime, as a motorcyclist coming from internal combustion riding you have a perception of speed based on many factory like noise, vibration, heat and the like, when these are subtracted from the riding experience there is a definite learning curve but absolutely ZERO loss of excitement.  If anything the riding experience just changes a bit, hitting corners at steep lean angles you can actually hear the tires scrubbing speed, which is rather novel until you get used it.  In town riding especially on a hot summer day is SO much nicer without all the heat associated with burning dead dinosaurs, the same applies in traffic. Zero has created one of the best commuter bikes ever with the SR if your commute is paved the whole way! This bike’s 116 ft/lbs of torque from a dead stop to the speed governor is nothing short of a religious experience, few bikes I have ridden in a career measured in decades in any way compare.
