1980 Yamaha Xj650 MAXIM, CollectorShow quality antique 1980 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim 1 - Black - the first year for the Maxim series. I purchased this bike new. Clear title. It has always been garage kept and virtually never ridden in the rain. It is in near mint condition as the photos attest. Everything on the bike is original factory down to the handle bar grips. The photos show the bike with an aftermarket king/queen seat as I use this when I ride with my wife. I have the original factory seat in new condition. I have meticulously maintained the bike doing much of the maintenance myself. It is one of the finest pieces of machinery I have ever owned. Not only is it a collector item this four cylinder shaft drive cruiser is a joy to ride - quick and responsive. She runs like the first day I purchased her. No throttle hesitation while pulling strong through all revs. No leaks and absolutely no oil usage. I synched the carbs one year ago and this was the first time it was needed - a testament to the quality of these carbs. Valve clearance checked a year ago and they were all in spec. Tires are very good with most all their life left. This is a bike that can be used with care as it appreciates. I haven't seen a comparable bike in this model year for sale. The bike comes with the following OEM spare parts which I purchased a long time ago but never needed. You may never need them anyway. These include: 1. Original factory shop manual. Purchased when I bought the bike - a really good manual. 2. Valve cover gasket. 3. Fork seals. The fork seals were replaced about three years ago for the one and only time required. 4. Side reflector with two mounts. Used in very good condition. 5. Carb synchronizing vacuum gage set. 6. Turn signal bracket and lens. Used in new condition. 7. Rear view mirror bracket. Used in like new condition. 8. Four carb rebuild kits. This is the only aftermarket spare part. New. 9. Complete instrument set including housing on mount; speedometer, tach, indicator lights. Used in very good condition. 10. Complete carb set mounted on rail. Used - very clean. 11. Electronic ignition with spark plug wires. Used in very good condition. 12. Starter motor. Used in good shape. 13. Electrical signal relays and power supplies. Used in good shape. 14. Front rotor. Used in good shape. 15. Left and right passenger foot pegs with aluminum frame brackets. Used - pegs like new, brackets in good shape. 16. Left and right driver foot pegs with brackets. Used - pegs poor, brackets very good. 17. Electrical spark igniter. Used in excellent condition. 18. Electrical Power Supply. Used in excellent condition. 19. Positive electrical relay off battery. Used - very good. 20. Bike cover. Serious inquires only. Ride the bike only if you are ready to purchase. You wont be wasting your time. All as claimed. $3,300.00

I have my 1982 Yamaha Turbo Seca XJ650LJ for sale. Its in good running and looking condition as the pictures show. If you are not familiar with turbo bikes, back in the early 80's these bikes were the latest craze, an attempt to get large amounts of horsepower from smaller power plants, like this 650cc. They didnt go over well as to the high price tag when new, and the word "Turbo" made your insurance rates go up. I bought this bike because I love rare vehicles in general, its a blast to ride and watch the turbo boost gauge rise and feel the kick in seat when it does. I dont know if I would call this a "beginners bike" as it is a little scary because it is fast, but more so the handling is of 1982 technology, as well as the brakes. It has a rear drum brake, and the factory single piston front calipers so it does not stop on a dime as today's modern bikes do, especially when the turbo boost hits and you have to slow the bike in a hurry, it can be scary! But dont get me wrong, the bike is a lot of fun, just be aware that this machine may not be for everyone. Its comfort level in riding possition is like that of a sport touring bike though. I recently have changed the oil, replaced the fork seals, cleaned the carburetors, etc. The bike is 30 plus years old, but operates as it should, however occassionally the left turn signal will not blink (stays on solid), the fuel gauge reads empty sometimes when its full of gas and once in a while the tachometer seems slow to react to change in engine speeds. The bike also has a modern aftermarket fuel shutoff installed. These bikes can be quirky and not many people know much about them at bike shops anymore, and they are fairly complex, there is however a whole online community dedicated to these nostalgic turbo motorcycles though that has helped me with an issue or two since owning it. I would recommend anyone interested in it to contact me either thru this ad or by phone at 717 265 5121 (no texts please, call) and come and check it out in person so you know what you are buying. I made and posted a video of it on youtube it can be found by searching: mr170578vxa turbo seca for sale Although its in good condition, again it is over 30 years old, im selling it AS IS.
