This is the first year of the legendary V Max. They remained pretty much unchanged upto 2007. This bike is a California bike since new. In the past couple of months rebuilt front and rear brake calipers, clutch master, fuel pump and new battery, also changed the oil and filter. Runs really well with only 29,800 miles. In good conditoon for a daily rider. Tires are in good shape, starts up easily with no smoke, shifts through all the gears just fine, lights all work. Has Corbin seat and Kerker exhaust (chrome is flaky on the exhaust). This bike was the fastest in its day, its very quick, not for the inexpirienced rider. It will clock 0-60 MPH in 2.88 seconds and the quarter mile in under 11 seconds. The Vmax has just turned 30 years old since its introduction, this is your chance to buy a great piece of motorcycle history, only going to go up in value. Clean title in my name. I bought this bike 7 years ago. I loved the design and the legend from back in 84 when I first read about this bike. I was not disappointed. From my first ride, this bike is wicked fast, and wants to go faster. Super responsive throttle, redlines over 9k, 0-60 is 2 point something, this bike is awesome. I have had a couple of low speed crashes, which accounts for the scratches and dings and dangs. Restored what was damaged, and back on the rode. A couple of years ago, the bike developed this slip out of second gear thing every once in a while. So now when I ride it, I rev higher in first, then double shift to 3rd. Because the bike loves to go fast, I was naturally revving high in 1st to begin with. Around the same time, I noticed that the carb boots were getting a little cracked. While the bike was in the shop for a full carb rebuild, I got a screaming deal on another bike, which my girlfriend and I absolutely love to ride two-up. Now, my Vmax is only getting ridden about twice a month. Not good enough. Time to sell. I bought it with a salvage title. The previous owner (who also owns too many bikes) said that he bought it from a guy who had laid it down, insurance paid off, he bought the bike back, restored it, hence a salvage title. Hopefully the pictures tell the story. dings dangs bumps and bruises, one of the fastest bikes I have ever ridden. It is LOUD, with a 4-1 exhaust and holeshot muffler that was repacked about 3 years ago. New rear tire...Michelin Commando-2 high mileage tire. Front tire is ready to be replaced, but still has miles left. Corbin seat, after market shocks (I have the originals), modified brake light and license plate bracket, stainless brake lines, and whatever else I have forgotten.
