This is a 1978 Yamaha XS 750 Special. It starts and runs goo, shifts smoothlyb through all gears and clutch and brakes work fine. The engine is not original. I believe it is from a 76 but not sure.The original air box has been removed and aftermarket air filter system installed. In line petcocks have been installed as over several months the petcocks leak a bit. Out on the road this machine is a pure joy to ride! It is smooth, powerful and handles excellently. What stuff does it need??? 1) rear tire is dry cracked. It would be a good idea to replace both tires. 2) the OEM air box has been ditched in favor of an aftermarket system 3) The head light does not turn on. It was working fin and then stopped. I have not taken the time to figure out why. May be a blown bulb, fuse??? I do not know. I am sure it is something very simple I encourage anyone interested to come take a look at it in person, poke & prod and take it for a short ride. This is a 1982 Yamaha XT 550. It starts and runs excellent, shifts correctly, clutch works fine.It is in overall very good condition given the year. It is NOT a museum piece or NOS!! What does it need..?? 1) it will need a battery 2) the baffle is rusted out of the silencer 3) rear brake shoes 4) The gas tank has a pin hole leak. It is not wet or dripping. It is slightly " damp " in that area. That area can bee seen in the pictures. ( it is very repairable ) 5) There is NO TITLE. I will gladly give you notarized bill of sale. 6) Choke cable needs replacing. The good stuff... oh ya here we go! 1) it has excellent compression ( you need a STRONG LEG! ) 2) rear tire has about 90% tread front about 75% 3) Still has all the original lighting and instrumentation. Although the tail light bulb will need replacing. 4) it is a real BALL TO RIDE!! This thing pulls like a mule!!... in ANY GEAR I encourage anyone with an interest to come look at it in person and take it for a short ride. 1980 Yamaha IT 250. The engine has OUTSTANDING compression, shifts great, clutch works smooth as butter and has NO issues. The chain and sprockets have extremely low wear, Mono shock has good dampening, brakes work well. The only real issue with this great classic machine is..... the plastic!! It will need new side panels, front fender, rear fender and the gas tank will need to be stripped of the unsightly white paint! It is pretty ugly BUT look past that... It is in excellent mechanical condition!! The head light does not work I assume it needs a bulb but, I do not know for sure. You are welcome to drop me a line and arrange for a viewing, thoroughly check it out and hear it run NOTE: It is NOT a museum piece or NOS! It is an older vintage dirt bike that is in good mechanical condition.
